Re: Stop joining JRC if your record is under 40%

It's not so much about record as it is teammate grade. But since 2k doesn't promote matchmaking by teammate grade, doesn't regularly offer this information in a reasonable way without hunting for it, most people don't pay attention to it.

Most of my friends are B+ to A- players. We share the rock, we play good defense. We've won with all defensive line ups. We've won with no shooters. It's all about HOW you play not who you play with and what archetype.

That's what I wish the community could learn. If you put shooters 1-5 that doesn't make you instantly good. Sure, you can be better than most. Or better than dogsh.... But when you roll up on a squad with a bunch of 80s because we're all in our like 6th characters without badges and you get smoked as a 98 pure stretch. Just realize... You were *** to begin with my guy.... You might be able to shoot over a bunch of guards, but my rebounding rim gets HOF defensive stopper. That was a red contest bro... Yep, that's an airball.

You want some tissue for those tears? Mmk.

Re: Stop joining JRC if your record is under 40%

        Its brutal this year.

I dont understand how anyone can criticize people for going into rec eith a squad. It takes me 20-30 minutes to find a decent five when i go solo, and 90% of the time, one guy doesnt D up and his man has 35-40 and costs us the game.

This is without even talking about the offensive side of the ball.

If I had a point guard maybe I would do it but at PF i can go 5 possessions in a row without touching the ball, and since im usually covering a stretch, I cant even cover for my teammates horrible defense because thatll be an automatic 3 points. This basically means a big portion of the game is out of my hands and im so tired of seeing people complain about squads in rec - sorry i dont want to waste half an hour yellingg at a pure sharp to stop setting ball screens and get back on D.

I see a lot of these treads, too. Idk why so many peoplehave a hard time getting a squad. I've got friends I've ran with for years, so i may be the outlier by having a squad pretty much available every night.

But dang dude... You're telling me none of you have come across a decent player and sent them a friend request?

You never get friend requests when you're playing with randoms?

I get friend requests FROM THE OTHER TEAM sometimes! Lololol

I run with randoms a bit, too. I usually won't make it passed the 1st quarter with them.

But I'm 50 games above .500 right now. About 200-150 something like that. And I'm about 100 more losses than my friends, most of those are quits.

But I still get friend requests all the time. Think i have about 200 unanswered right now.

You get a lot of players who think it's fun to lose on purpose in Rec.

And when you ask them to please stop trying to lose the game on purpose they tell you "It's just a game bro".

No. It's not just a game. What you're (speaking of randoms who DO this specific thing) doing is blatantly disrespecting every one's time and effort, which, if this was real life, you wouldn't even think of doing, because I'm assuming you have common decency, which means you only feel comfortable doing this kind of thing online, from the comfort of your home. I want no part of it.

I can handle losing. I've played on a team full of randoms before who all shared the ball, tried playing defense, had mics and communicated without being toxic, and took good shots and we still managed to lose 4 games in a row. It happens. It's a videogame. Sometimes the full whites don't go in that day. Was I mad about the losing? No, because those guys played the game the right way and that's all I want or expect from Rec. Winning is a goal and bonus. Just play the right way first and foremost, and winning will naturally come after.

I'm not going to lie...I'm very anti-social in online games. It's the main reason why I avoid games where is communication is VERY important like in R6. Although given the current meta, NBA 2K is kinda heading that direction with the OP builds. I just want to play games where I enjoy myself, and not worry about talking to other people. The crazy part is that I'm a social butterfly IRL.

OMG! Those people are the worse! I'll never understand why people find it so funny to make other people mad. I guess that's why I NEVER found shows like Tom Green's (yup, telling my age) to be funny. IRL, I would just knock you the hell out, and call it a night.

Everyone has to branch out at some point. I'm fortunate I've got friends to run with. But tonight we played 4 games, won 2 and lost 2. I might get some more games in but I feel like i need to get my badges up on my newest build. I was shooting putrid. Lol

Some games with friends you can go 1-8 from deep and win. Last game i went 1-3 from deep and we lost. I don't think it's all about who shoots and how many times. I feel like i was getting better looks playing this character last night at the 4. Tonight i was playing the 3. Same character, different line up and totally different results. We faced decent competition last night and won all our games.

                  Its all about the team.

Me in a nutshell. I like popping on the game without a headset sometimes and just letting the game flow. I do this even with guys I got on my friends list (some I met online and others in real life through college). There are occasions where I'm talking to my wife about her day or I'm simultaneously watching an NBA game, so I don't want to be distracting to my teammates. Either way, I feel like communications should HAVE to be required per se. Just common basketball knowledge.

It's been a tough year for me in Park and in Rec. People just lose on purpose. At the end of the day though record doesn't matter.

I find it more fun taking a bunch of scrubs and beating a juggernaut of a team in rec.

I’m going to be so real about this: If you come into the game with the mentality ‘Lol it’s just a video game’, I don’t want you playing with me.

It is a fact that this is a video game. However, I don’t know about some people, but I didn’t get on the game to lose. In my experience, when people say that ****, those are usually the ones that throw up stupid shots, make terrible passes, play almost no defense, and generally have extremely low IQ. Go grab a couple of your friends and play as a team, where you can play as stupid as you want. Don’t come into Rec/Park and waste other people’s time.

Records should be removed from any style of pick up games, park and rec. I don’t know a single person that knows what their pick up game record is.
Teammate grade is all that’s needed.
Then 2k can accurately match make based on grade.
They need to improve their matching logic and going strictly by teammate grade would help.

People that say “it’s just a video game” are typically people that suck at the game and use that saying as an excuse for their lack of skill.
Sure, technically, it is just a video game, but at the end of the day it’s a competition.
All sports, video or irl, are just games if you want to use that line of thinking.
Some people make a career out of playing “just a video game” through the league or YouTube, some are just competitive and want to win, and some are casuals that dont care one way or the other.

This again could all be solved by 2k by selecting which type of people you want to play with and against. But since it took 2k 6 months to remove pushing, something that should have never been in a basketball sim in the first place, I don’t have any reason to believe that they will make any effort to improve matchmaking.

I agree about the teammate grade. However, I can't speak for anyone else here, but when I said "it's just a video game", it's not because I don't care about winning. When I play park or rec, I don't go out there playing like an idiot and chucking up crazy shots. I try to play as smart as possible; take open shots, kick out to the open man, play solid defense, etc. If we lose, of course I'll be frustrated, but I know that I did what I can to give us the best chance to win. At the end of the day I don't take it that serious. And why should I? I have other things to worry about. I have to focus on school, and I know most people here probably have jobs and some even families. It's not like I'm playing for money like the 2K League players or some competitive players are. It's not like I'm playing for some kind of championship or award. I just want to enjoy myself and have fun for a little bit. So I feel like saying "it's just a video game" should not mean that you suck or have excuses. Why can't there be a middle ground?
