    The Lebron James System

In an offline MyLeague, how would you best emulate and optimise "The Lebron James System" with the Lakers?

If you don't know what I mean, it's the system he played in Cleveland, where almost everything runs through Lebron. Basically just Lebron either pumping the ball on the perimeter, or him slowly backing inside to the high post. Surrounding him is three shooters spotting up along the perimeter along with one big man inside. If the defence sags on any of the shooters, Lebron kicks the ball to him. If not, Lebron assesses his own defender. If he sags, Bron shoots, and if he plays tight, Bron tries to take it to the rim where he either finishes or gets fouled. If a double team arrives, Bron kicks it to the now open teammate who will either be a shooter or the big man under the basket. Another option entirely is just Lebron getting a screen from the big man, driving inside, and then either finish, get fouled, kick it outside if help arrives, or find the big man rolling.

In theory, it's just a very slow version of what Houston and D'Antoni is running with James Harden. Without the extreme analytical (dunks, threes, layups, free throws) approach too I guess.

How would you perfect this system in terms of settings? What system should the coach have equipped and what coaching settings should I chose? I've played a few games, and I think Luke Waltons pace&space style needs to go!

bron is a point guard and has been one since highschool. There is no lebron system he runs w/e the coach does. Systems are for role players not stars.

          A few easy steps.

          1. Surround him with players he picks and to bad contracts.

          2. Add the 14 other players on your team to the trade block

          3. Offer the Pelicans bad deals for AD

          4. Fire your entire staff.

Seriously though, try changing his position to point guard. He will bring the ball up court more than he would as a forward with play initiator to yes.

First Luke Pace and Space is what the Warriors run. What the Heat ran with when they had LeBron (Erika Spo). So it's not his lol. It's the same offense Alvin Gentry runs for the Pels. It's the same offense that the Warriors ran when he was assistant coach of the Warriors the first 2 years they went to the championship.

What James Harden is running. Is the offense from 05 Suns. Just without the 7 seconds offense. Now they just take as many 3's as they possible can in the offense.

Finally, LeBron is a point forward. The only time he was a point guard was his first year in the league. The Pace and Space will add years to LeBron's career. Just like the triangle did for MJ. Tha'ts why the Lakers kind of fell apart. Too many injuries. You can't blame that on Luke. When LeBron came back he tried to going "LeBron System mode". But the team was never build like that.

theres no difference between a point forward or a point guard. Lebron is the guy running the offense. every point hes played with either was a scorer or 3+d (snow,mo will, kyrie, chalmers). dude turned lonzo into a spot up shooter cause like i said lebron no matter who is at the 1 is the pg.

Your saying saying even when he play with Kyrie. Kyrie wasn't the PG? Even though he's a point guard.

Kyrie was the PG by name but his role wasn't really to facilitate when Bron was on the floor with him... LeBron was the defacto PG... Kyrie was essentially a 2 in a PG's body on offense... He facilitated sure but on in a secondary role... A much different role than what he plays in the Celtics offense... Kyrie's job was to score when he was with Bron

                        LeBron James 2019
                        ON-BALL (54% of Offense)
                        28% PnR: 0.98 PPP (84th Percentile)
                        18% Isolation: 0.97 PPP (73rd Percentile)
                        8% Post-Up: 1.01 PPP (70th Percentile)

                        OFF-BALL (15% of Offense)
                        6% Spot-Up: 1.01 PPP (58th Percentile)
                        4% Basket Cut: 1.50 PPP (89th Percentile)
                        2% Roll Man: 1.32 PPP (89th Percentile)
                        2% Off-Screen: 0.69 PPP (11th Percentile)
                        1% Handoff: 1.43 PPP (98th Percentile)

                        NON-HC (31% of Offense)
                        21% Transition: 1.14 PPP (56th Percentile)
                        3% Putback: 1.30 PPP (88th Percentile)
                        7% Misc: 0.53 PPP (49th Percentile)

LeBron is extremely ball-dominant, and for good reason. He is a high-quality scorer who can create his shot in any number of ways (it should also say something that his Transition opportunities outnumber his Off-Ball possessions by a considerable margin). As with any ball-dominant player it is best to pair him with players who excel off the ball.

                        Lakers PnR
                        45% Rajon Rondo: 0.74 PPP (31st Percentile)
                        28% LeBron James: 0.98 PPP (84th Percentile)
                        28% Lance Stephenson: 0.79 PPP (42nd Percentile)
                        25% Brandon Ingram: 0.79 PPPP (41st Percentile)
                        24% Lonzo Ball: 0.69 PPP (21st Percentile)
                        9% Kyle Kuzma: 0.88 PPP (64th Percentile)
                        9% Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: 0.83 PPP (52nd Percentile)
                        5% Jason Hart: 0.70 PPP (24th Percentile)

LeBron was the only player on the Lakers capable of executing a pick and roll at optimal efficiency.
Ball was horrendous and blaming LeBron for his deficiencies on-ball is akin to blaming Joel Embiid for Ben Simmons' total inability to stretch the floor. One-dimensional young talents need to expand their games if they aren't generational franchise players. Asking future Hall of Famers to make significant changes to their play style is not a recipe for success.

                        Lakers Isolation
                        18% LeBron James: 0.97 PPP (73rd Percentile)
                        14% Brandon Ingram: 1.00 PPP (80th Percentile)
                        13% Lance Stephenson: 0.93 PPP (64th Percentile)
                        10% Rajon Rondo: 0.79 PPP (36th Percentile)
                        6% Kyle Kuzma: 0.73 PPP (27th Percentile)
                        5% Lonzo Ball: 0.93 PPP (64th Percentile)
                        5% Alex Caruso: 1.15 PPP (94th Percentile)
                        3% Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: 0.73 PPP (28th Percentile)
                        3% JaVale McGee: 0.52 PPP (6th Percentile)

                        Post-Up
                        9% JaVale McGee: 0.81 PPP (26th Percentile)
                        9% Brandon Ingram: 0.99 PPP (63rd Percentile)
                        8% LeBron James: 1.01 PPP (70th Percentile)
                        7% Kyle Kuzma: 0.91 PPP (45th Percentile)
                        7% Mo Wagner: 0.88 PPP (38th Percentile)

Ingram at least holds a candle to LeBron in 1v1 situations but he obviously isn't anywhere near the distributor. Of course he isn't an ideal fit next to LeBron either since he's a below average 3pt shooter.

More PnRs this year in hand w/ lower Iso rate. He loved two-man game w/ JaVale McGee, but McGee's efficiency wasn't dissimilar from Tristan Thompson's. McGee was higher on the pecking order than Thompson was w/ Cleveland, though.

The updated Lakers playbook does a pretty good job of utilizing Lebron. Not many 3pt plays for your shooters but many good pick and roll plays and guard post up plays to use Lebron.
I never call post up plays so I can’t name them, but fist 21 delay and fist 25 give are money ballscreen plays.
Lakers playbook is a good mix of concepts where on one possession you can use Lebron as Steve Nash in D’Antoni type spread pick and roll one possession, as the roll man next possession, and post him up the next.

                              My lakers.. (19-20 season)

                              Kyrie
                              Malik Beasley
                              LeBron
                              Jaren Jackson JR
                              Draymond Green

                              Bench
                              Covington
                              Seth Curry
                              Defensive big
                              Rim runner forward

Surround lebron with defensive wings who can shoot. Give him a second alpha like Kyrie who can run the offense. I like to stagger their minutes.

Stretch big to space the floor.

Have had multiple 50 point games with Kyrie while lebron is averaging 33.3- 14-15 on 70% FG and 1st team all defense thus far

A guy like Draymond allows me to outlet with lebron in transition.

Basically, build a complete team, because lebron can adjust to anything (as he does irl).
