With how easy it has historically been to rip a post scorer with even the weakest double, I would like for Unpluckable to have at least a decent impact in that scenario regardless of rating.

Yeah most def! Especially after a rebound! Absolutely horrible that my 90 strength center has the strength of a baby holding on to a ball after a rebound.

How about a Karl Malone special badge where after grabbing a rebound we press a button and he just starts throwing elbows.

The ambiguity drives me mad. Quit being so damn secretive and just be transparent with this stuff. Who exactly gets hurt by revealing that information?

But but, then they would need a "resist concussion" badge to help counter it. Just ask poor David Robinson.

I understand the frustration, but I can think of two reasons. One is, the less players know what's really under the hood the less they can possibly exploit. Players can be unbelievably more creative in finding weird quirks and work arounds than the devs would ever dream.

Two is, when you're on top of your game (terrible pun intended), the less you tell any potential competition any "under the hood" info, the better.

He could probably go into more detail than he does and not hurt anything. But it's just easier to generally not talk about it.

Not to mention he wants us as players to actually play his game and feel it out ourselves and make estimations. That's supposed to be part of the fun.

It's a good explanation, honestly. I play Magic: The Gathering and I cant tell you how many times they print a set of cards and there's some garbage card everyone deems as useless with a completely niche effect. It's not worth the cardboard it's printed on.

Then later that year someone figured out an interaction that nobody saw coming and suddenly this worthless card is the entire crux of a deck that's winning every tournament.

And that's with a year or 2 of playtesting before even releasing the cards(Wizards of the Coast has their testers playing with sets of cards that are like, a year+ from hitting shelves. The playtesting groups are like, ex world champions too). People still find something that no one else thought of.

They used to tell us exact numbers on badges, bit I suspect there's some really nasty combos that we all could exploit if we had those now

Exactly. I'll never forget Nathan Fahrenthold explaining Madden's architechture for anti-cheating back in the day.....I was flabbergasted. Can they give you surface info? For sure. But be careful revealing the under-the-hood stuff. People looking for exploits are resourceful and very intelligent--underestimate them at your PERIL.

                          I don't know man...

Given the direction myplayer has taken (e.g. badges respec), I now consider badges the same of skills trees and weapons in action/rpg games.

Do you imagine yourself playing borderlands and choosing which skill unlock or which gun equip without knowing their stats?

                          Exactly.

I'm going to pretend that you didn't make this stupid comment considering cheesers/cheater/exploiters can be found in any online mode....

The difference here is Borderlands is 99% PVE, whereas myplayer is now skewed PVP.

If they gave you the percentage boosts for badges, you would minmax a build that was godly at everything, and there would be no "meta" at all. Not that there hasn't been one specific thing the last few years, but I feel like in basketball it should be more team composition than just "everyone is god". I'd like to think 2k starts out wanting to make that a thing.

I'm guilty of min maxing, but it's definitely more of a "try to give my Slasher a slightly better chance at a hitting corner 3s so the defense isn't treating me like Ben Simmons" thing. I'm still a liability there, but slightly better than terrible.

Also, Borderlands devs want you to break the game. That's a huge difference as well. Take the "Bee Shield + Conference Call" build in 2. They never nerfed it, they just made the next raid boss immune to it. Then a different combo arose...so DLC raidboss 3 was immune to both tricks. Gearbox loves watching the players break the game.
