I wish the plays weren't sorted by play type so each play could be ran in the order of what you posted. So the offense is more unpredictable.

I'm just getting into the play/freelance aspect of the game. I want to recreate the triangle with rookie tmac & another rookie future all star(not sure who the 2nd is gonna be. I keep going back and forth with tons of different variations. Kirilenko, Marion, artest for a bulls type triangle or a hof big like shaq/hakeem/robinson/KG/TD for Lakers type triangle)
I used rookie Kobe dna and an ak47 type player to start mine. I also have a long 3-D point guard. Year 3, we are the #2 team in the league. Won 64 games and in round 1 of the playoffs. Using 96 Bulls playbook and Kobe clone averages 24

Hell yeah! Nice. Are you using any plays from the front page or just the generic 96 bulls playbook that came with the game?

I keep wanting to restart and doing something different every 5 minutes so im trying to figure out something to do and stick with it. Even thought of a cool story line of phil Jackson coming back in a front office role with "tex winter jr" becoming the head coach and them teaching tmac and team the concept of the triangle. I just can't figure out what players I want on my team lol

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. I got 2k21 downloaded for Thursday night. My guess is the playcalling system will be exactly the same as you 2K20.

Do you all think we need a new thread for the current gen version of 2k21? Or should we just create a separate one for next gen?

I say keep this for current gen. And make a new one for next gen because I hear it's going to be differences

For those on 2k21, how are things? Is it cookie cutter from 2k20?

One thing I have found out. The higher the system proficiency of your team and system proficiency of your coaches, the more sim wins you will get. Once I got to 4+ stars, I average 60+ wins every year with deep playoff runs.

Basically. What we miss are the little things that are taken out of the freelance when creating each years game. Remember playing 2K16 and having the option of motion cuts and scoring actions? When we had those you could see creative counters like flare screen plays for some guys based on their 3PT rating. Or in 2K17 which had some baseline shuffle cuts into post ups for Jordan/Kobe. I understand how those get overlooked as no one team is running the triangle exclusively now. However the set players that have been removed over the years are less explainable. Those should be “cannon” so to speak. When I get my series X (backwards compatible) I want to show ppl the best plays that 2k11 and 2k12 had. I’d say in all the 2Ks that have been produced we’ve produced seen 90% of the plays the bulls/lakers ran consistently at some point in time. Those Devs had then-current games to scout from where Czar had the lowly Knicks to scout from. Also the tech is different. So we can look at the best 45-50 plays and say ok this is a legit gameplan no matter what personnel you have or what era you’re playing in. I think I have a listed started somewhere. But I know the devs and engineers have very limited time between cycles to get stuff done and even more limited on the time they have to work on classic teams. Hopefully we can get some improvement by 2K23.

But the default roster team has to step their game up. Many classic teams don’t play like themselves because of tendencies. That’s not Czars department. He can add 10000 pick n roll plays I send him but the AI won’t call them if Horace Grant and Horry’s Roll vs Fade tendencies are set to zero which means only certain plays will show up for them when doing positional playcalling.

NBA 2K21 featuring Damian Lillard, Zion Williamson and the legend Kobe Bryant as cover athletes, 2K21 brings amazing new features to the NBA 2K franchise.

Oh and no lie about those 5 star teams. Never had less than a 60 game season with one of those. And I typically don’t have more than 2 starters over a 80 overall rating.

FYI - There may be a delay but we cannot complain especially if Czar is adding it in with new data. This is very good news!

If anyone waiting on a next gen is wondering. It’s the same plays from last gen. Currently when you choose the triangle freelance they’re running 3 out 2 in. This will get patched eventually.

                                Update:

It looks like you can run the basic tenets of the triangle freelance if you turn ACE. Very very basic. No special pressure releases or use of the motion button to key things off from anywhere. I am very optimistic this will run very nicely just by looking at the way players don’t get locked into making certain passes if the offense gets stagnant especially off passes to the top of the key.
