Thanks man glad yall agree, I remember the last time I posted here was like 2k17 and I was quite passionate about it - posted several similar stuff back then that was never taken into account.

I haven't played 2k for a full year since like 2k11, after that game I usually buy it and only play it for a few months then never play again until the next release because i'm just disappointed by the lack of balance between offense and defense.

Playing this demo I can see things are still largely the same and it's just disheartening for simulation basketball folks who want to feel more in control on defense.

Not sure what i'll do, probably will buy it just to stop playing in a few months like usual haha.

I think it really depends on the defender's speed and quickness vs the ball handlers speed.

With Lowry and VanFleet I am able to regain good position and bump or push/bump them away from the hoop. Their speed recovery is really good.

I’m not as concerned with blow bys as they are in the demo, but once it’s user vs user, it might get out of hand.
My main issue is when you hip ride someone to the bucket and they try the layup, if you jump to contest or block the shot, it’s a foul 100% of the time even with a high defensive rating, max arms, and the “supposedly” right badges.

Lets first talk about simple movement, who doesn't agree that offense has always felt more responsive in general in terms of movement and reaction speed?.

I hate that despite having high speed / acceleration and high lateral quickness, my defender feels like he is either moving on skates or the opposite - he is a slug that takes ages to react to the offensive player.

I've always felt like offense in this game, has TONS of bail outs - not only animation wise - but also in terms of just how the nature of the game is, i'm talking about things like being able to hit shots from VERY FAR - being able to dunk on people, being able to break their ankles.

While as a defender, it has always been WAY more challenging if you put it in that context of all the amout of "bail outs" that players are given.

Because let's face it, those things are often more about "how lucky you are" than actual skill.

So if offensive players can have all those luck bail outs and such a high amount of potential to score - why can't we defenders get the same potential if we have high ratings?.

I'll mention what I wish was implemented in the form of new badges or replacements for current badges.

        1. Lighting Reflexes: Improves reaction time, faster defensive animations and defensive recovery.

This would be similar to the new badge "pogo stick" except having an effect on overall defensive animations and movement.

        2. Tireless Defender: Improves your overall stamina on defense - decreases the OVERALL stamina consumption when on defense

        3. Quick Feet: Improves cut off animation frequency and offensive foul potential.

There aren't enough realistic defensive interactions in this game that make a REAL difference and forces players to pass the ball.

Maybe this badge would trigger an offensive foul if the offensive player continuously charges directly at you expecting a blow by animation over and over again.

In reality this should be added as a bonus to the "clamps" badge or "lighting reflexes".

        -----

        4. Intimidating Presence: Improves the frequency that the offensive player picks up their dribble after certain amount of collision or bumping.

So they aren't encouraged to just spam blowbys over and over again ).

        5. Elite Defensive Awareness : Reduces the chance of fouling.

It doesn't make sense that a higher rated defender still gets stupid foul calls even with badges like rim protector etc.

        -----------

Hopefully you guys agree, tired of 2k being biased towards offense.
