    THIS.

    It's barely been 48 hours.

Learn the in's and out's of the game before asking for patches and changes(for non technical things obviously)

Yeah there's still a lot of sliding unfortunately. It's my biggest pet peeve with the game.

Players still randomly slide into position to receive passes without moving their feet due to the tethered passing engine (I assume). It's especially noticeable when inbounding the ball or when passing to a wing player. If you go into 2KU freestyle shoot around, you will see players at times gliding towards the ball when receiving passes. It's a huge eyesore. Players also still slide around on defense. It's not as bad a previous years but it's still there.

It seems to be a legacy issue. Hopefully they can tighten it up in a patch but I really hope foot planting gets an overhaul going into Next Gen...

        Gameplay

        • This game has the biggest learning curve and really tests a user skill gap than any 2K game by far. Not even just stick skills
        • Shooting, mismatches, dribbling, playbook, CPU on ball defense is probably the most realistic it has been. This is based off Superstar level 12 min games 5 vs. 5.
        • I would probably say the game feels easier than last year against the CPU because there is less BS in the game to make the CPU just make shots or play unrealistic defense.

        Negatives:

        • The signature shots for Al Horford and Tobias are so bad that I had to go in and edit myself.
        • Double team logic but that will get fixed.

To be fair, I think this can happen. Since it takes longer to gather for a dunk than a layup, some players will avoid dunking with someone behind them to avoid being fouled or giving the defender a chance to catch up for a block/steal

The reason the CPU seems a bit "easier" is because ratings and skill sets matter in 2K20, for the first time ever in the franchise. This is huge! Ratings kind of mattered in previous games, but you could just play casually and good defense was usually good defense no matter who you were controlling. You rarely needed to make any in-game adjustments and having stick skills and some basketball knowledge sufficed.

Now, I actually felt compelled to go into scrimmage mode for the first time in 16 years of playing 2K. I was getting pummeled by the Blazers on Superstar, so I went into scrimmage, played a game to 50 and destroyed the B team, because they're not nearly as good. I was abusing those guys, which I couldn't do against the Blazers. Gone are the days of everybody playing like Jordan, the difficulty comes from the AI actually being smart this time rather than from ridiculous attribute boosts like in the past. Now, if I want to beat tougher opponents, I need to practice so I can exploit their weaknesses and outsmart them, and that entails going into scrimmage mode and practicing plays, and making adjustments during games. This is a first in 2K. I'm in love with this game.

By the way, I think Superstar is the way to go and is where ACE seems to really shine. The Superstar Blazers were reacting to what I was doing and making all kinds of plays and shots as opposed to simply trying to drive all day. I'd deny the dribble drive and they would kick it out for a three, for instance, or just pull up on me. I was seeing a lot of variety and the AI was murdering me.

Not going to lie I’m liking this 2k a lot . One of my favorites in a while . Was skeptical at first because the neighborhood and rec looks nearly identical .

But the gameplay and graphics have been touched up nicely.

There are a lot of bugs that I’m running into though

Last night, I hopped into MyLeague because that dude in this thread kept talking about Sim slider. Took me hours to find that slider because I am not a MyLeague player, so to save everybody else time, those sliders because it is more then one is in MyLeague. IMO those sliders should be in the base play now mode as well.

Anyway messing around with MyLeague, all 30 team control, played around with various sim sliders. Turned ACE OFF, set some teams primary, secondary and 3rd scoring options. It was a night and day difference then playing play now. Turning ACE off and setting those scoring options make a HUGE difference in game play.

Played against the Grizzlies, had Ja Morant as the number one scoring option, he lit me up for 21 points in the first half. Every other time I played against them with ACE on or ACE off without setting the primary scorers, Ja Morant never had more then 4 to 8 points against me in the 1st half. So this year, I'm rolling MyLeague, 30 team control, ACE off and setting all the teams primary scorers.

Setting primary scorers is likely what made the difference. That seems to be a focus for all of the reputable roster makers.

However, ACE is only applicable to the USER controlled team. The CPU utilizes ACE regardless of the on/off toggle in the settings menu

After reading through this thread, I don't know if I'm playing the same game, my game is broken, or if I just suck more than I already know I do at the game.

Any time I use a team with a star player, they are double-teamed constantly. It would be one thing if this happened contextually, like during a pick and roll, when a player is hot, has a mismatch, etc., but this happens irrespective of all these things and game difficulty (rookie or hall of fame).

I was just using the Warriors/Clippers in scrimmage mode on ROOKIE and Steph Curry was being double teamed EVERYWHERE on the court, as if Patrick Beverly is going to call for help every time Curry touches the ball. I would literally run from the frontcourt to the backcourt and the double team would follow him until he passed the ball. The same happened when I switched to hall of fame difficulty.
                    (Video: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AsLwVhsKHFfhfrg5fQvAi5xj-fg)

Even more annoying was the fact that this looks visually silly as the CPU is in an intense defensive stance sliding the entire time. Even if I turbo away from the double team into the backcourt, creating considerable distance between me and the defenders, neither of them will running towards the ball nor will they call off the double team. On offense AI doesn't response to this whatsoever. No one comes to the ball, no one cuts to the basket, and the floor spacing is terrible.

Aside from this, I've also been having numerous other problems. My post passing seems to be delayed as players are going from smothering me at the three point line to sliding in front of post players to steal entry passes, players are jumping screens before they are set or before I used them, and every defensive player I use feels like he's 1000 pounds with no lateral quickness or capacity to change directions.

I use the Warrriors as well and have the exact same experience. Many users have complained about the CPU double teams, but it seems even more hard coded against the Warriors. Scott OG (developer) said in a stream last night that this is a bug and has been identified and fixed.

The change should hit our consoles in the next few days.

I like the game quite a bit. I really love the interaction between the ball handler and defender. You can really read a defenders and if you make the right move, the right outcome happens 9 out of 10 times.

Attack the lead foot and you beat the defender. Force a defender to turn his body while you're driving on him, pull back and watch him keep running. It's really deep and I can tell that a lot went under the hood to make this possible.

Foot planting is a lot better this year. It's far form perfect, and if you know even a little about game design, you'll know that it's a long way off (think much farther than next gen). For what it is. It'll work.

Overall we just have to wait and see what the next barrage of patches bring. I'm loving the game so far tho.

They will fix during the next roster update, hopefully in tomorrow, OG confirmed that in his steam yesterday.

                                On the technical side:

-I get some sort of horrible input lag when playing offline, close to a full second after button presses. The player I am controlling also seems to sometimes handle he weighs 500 pounds, while bigger CPU players with less speed, less acceleration, and less lateral quickness are gliding around and turning on a dime. This happens even when I am careful not to turbo around the court.Makes the game incredibly frustrating to play.

-Sometimes the play art glitches on offfense and literally tells me to stand under the other teams basket.

                                On the gameplay side:

-You still have to adjust the sliders so that bigs with 50 speed aren't keeping up with guys with 80+ speed.Simple fix but I'm getting tired of having to jack around with sliders every frigging year.

-AI teammates are just awful. They dibble into double coverage then refuse to pass, put up absolute garbage quality shots, stare at the basket instead of shooting open shots the player can make, wander out of bounds with the ball, refuse to take screens(or take them the wrong way),screen the wrong players, and just kind of give up defense half the time. I don't mind doing some coaching, adjustments, etc. but I also don't want to have to babysit all 5 players 100% of the time so the don't constantly do dumb stuff either.

-Specific to MC: I was drafted to the Jazz and Donovan Mitchell has zero minutes? He is not injured or anything and we do not play at the same position (I am a PF/C), the CPU coach just gives him literally no minutes at all.Incredibly dumb.

-Also specific to MC: My player is basically a take on Ben Wallace, yet the CPU constantly calls plays designed for me to take jump shots or low post.I am built for defense and rebounds...DEFENSE....AND....REBOUNDS...stop giving me the friggin ball.

-The contest system is somewhat broken...WAY too much value given to contests from behind.I have had multiple instances where I am on one side of hoop and the defender is on the other side...what should be a reverse layup using both my own body and the hoop to take the defender out of the play is somehow a 90%+ contest...that needs to go.Also, there is way too much shot blocking from behind without shooting fouls being called.

-Just WAY to easy for ball handlers to bully the CPU defense. If they are going to let guys driving the lane just slide defenders around like they do now, there has to be ALOT more take charge attempts and offensive fouls called.

Right now it just feels like the games is designed expressly for the online crowd, which is not my deal.

Now I'm not saying the game won't be great after some hot fixes to address some issues (specifically the input lag). Currently it is the only game that gets me upset, and it happens super fast. So for now...no thanks I'll be playing other games instead; call me when 2K fixes the game.
Your impressions are almost polar opposite of mine. Are your thoughts based off of mainly MC gameplay?

I haven’t played a second of that so I’m wondering if that’s where there’s such a drastic difference. Gameplay feels free and fluid vs. weighted and delayed like your experiencing.

As another poster stated, I strongly recommend giving yourself sometime adjusting to the new style of gameplay. My only recommendation is to toggle the left stick slightly when needing subtle movements.

I hope your experience improves with the game man.
