You could still play the games in 2k5, the card mode was just an option. I actually liked the idea of the card game as an option but it didn't function well. There were full 12 minute quarter games where sometimes your teams wouldn't break 60 points. I know it was a more defensive league at the time but it happened way too frequently.

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
You missed the part where they didn't just "Kill" the MyGM Mode... they "MURDERED" it!
But seriously, 2K killed MyGM and there are absolutely zero exaggerations about it. Imagine if 2K decided that MyPark would no longer allow users to play with their own MyPlayer, and forced everyone to play with a predetermined build. This is what they have essentially done with MyGM. It's the same thing they did with NBA2K20's CAP faces not being able to be sculpted. They killed the CAPs for that year, and this year they killed MyGM mode. 2K isn't EA. MyGM wasn't hot garbage like Madden's CFM mode. MyGM was good at worst, and a revolutionary mode at best! Then they turned it into a "fun" mode for the adults who buy the game for their kids on Christmas, only for the kid to head straight to MyPark and the parent never touches the game again.Comment

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
I read here, rarely if ever post here. I hopped onto 2k in 07, deciding to give it a try after being a Live player since '99 growing up. I'm pretty much strictly an offline player, I play about 50/50 MyCareer and MyGM and never felt like I had been missing something. I understood that online modes that drive VC purchases were going to get the majority of the attention and accepted that...I've defended 2k for years, rolling my eyes at the screaming mobs, but this is ridiculous.
I read the myGM blog and I wasn't sure about the action points system. I think it could be tweaked (if you're going to charge me one for adjusting rotations, give me like...3 a day), but I do like the idea of time being a resource you have to allocate a bit. I like the GM skill tree system/view they implemented. I REALLY like the idea of building a relationship with players and deciding which players you want to get on your side, even though I wish you could opt to not even see the conversation and just get the increase. I appreciate the bit of immersion from the cutscenes, but I don't need to see KAT talk about Frasier for the 38th time...
The one thing I brushed off as "I can just ignore it" while reading the blog was the leaderboards..."Oh well they're going to add a point system, I can't imagine anyone who plays this mode gives a flying F*** about what other people are doing, but whatever..." I thought. What I didn't take into account is how much they'd have to steamroll the mode down to an equal playing field. After spending a good amount of time tearing down the Wolves roster (bye Wiggins, hello D'Lo) I jumped into my first game (wooo action point for performing the most fundamental thing about the video game...PLAYING IT) and noticed the 6 minute quarters with fatigue off, no subs being made, low difficulty... "oops forgot to adjust the settings, I'll get it next game."
After digging through menus thinking that it couldn't POSSIBLY be that deep to increase quarter length, turn fatigue back, and raise the difficulty on I googled and found this thread...to say the least I was disappointed. I'm enjoying the gameplay and was looking forward to a good set of sliders to give it that final tweak. I'm not a guy who typically plays even half the games in a season, but I love building my team and feeling it improve in the actual gameplay, which is non-existent when you can absolutely wreck teams you really have no business beating, much less consistently dominating. Needless to say I just flat out deleted my file, it's really pointless to me. I guess it's myleague for me this year, which still has the teambuilding and training aspects I enjoy, but myGM added a layer of complexity and life to your team that I'll really miss.
Sorry for the novel, I rarely complain but when I do I'm thorough about it. Hopefully 2k has the balls to just blow up myGM and revert it. I KNOW it's possible in a patch with effort, but I'm not holding my breath on that.Comment

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
Unfortunately I could never really get into myleague cuz I like things realistic. When they added the traditional mygm back into 2k19 it was awesome. I like being able to earn badges and upgrade me as a gm and looking at my portfolio and seeing my scanned face plus with the traditional mygm u could use custom rosters, draft classes and sliders. It had almost as many options as myleague has. But now now , it's just the worst thing 2k has done since 2k18. PatheticComment

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
Has anyone else noticed how you can't change the opposing teams uniforms in MYGM? a small thing but pretty frustrating, it gets aesthetically boring playing the same team in the same uniform over and over againComment

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
They could care less. All of their interactions with the community are career/park related
That’s what really boggles my mind. They turn my GM into this online only mode. When the people who play online don’t even touch my GM!!!!

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
So this is the year with the best offensive gameplay and the first year I’m able to build a team with a 5-star system proficiency rating but no mode to play them in. I’m praying they patch this mode and give power to chose a traditional mode but I’m not too confident.Comment

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
They might as well have killed myleague too because the same bugs are present from last year... GLeaguers progressing super fast... 99 tendency glitch... Player mentorship (a feature they advertised heavily last year) still doesn't work... Then you have team chemistry being garbage and morale being all over the place... the trade logicand all around team building logic hasn't advanced much since last gen... I couldn't care less how deep the mode is if most of everything is broken to all hell 🤷🏾*♂️...
Madden's franchise mode is as deep as a puddle but most of everything works as intended... Even the auto generated draft classes are miles better than what 2k has to offer... And they are even adding new stuff as well... They patched in New abilities for OL players... They are adding new scenarios to the mode... They are patching in other stuff as well... 2k gets a pass for a lot of BS and it's time to stop cutting the slack... They are ignoring a large portion of their fanbase to pander to the drones that still drop hella money on the game even with all of the issues they complain about so why should they care about us franchise players?
All this depth in a largely broken mode is useless and more frustrating tbh... You have to do so much calibrating with tendencies and other complex sliders for the first 5 months to even make the mode worth playing so why bother... It's the same cycle of insanity and I'm tired of itComment
