Re: No One is talking about Da_Czar leaving Twitter??
To be fair, the NBA 2K community is among the most toxic I’ve ever dealt with in over 10 years of covering sports video games for a major publication. It can be difficult to find the legitimate criticism in the sea of whiny, entitled and insulting babbling that takes place the moment someone doesn’t hit as many greens as they want on their jump shot.
"Thanks for all the feedback. All the information have been gathered and forwarded to the Dev Team. They are aware of the problems, and hopefully we'll have resolution soon for you. Please be patient with us as we try to fix the problems that the community has brought to our attention."
Social Media? I promise you that I would take the time to block/ban people off my twitter feed that just want to be hostile for the sake of being hostile. If you want to interact with me, then you need to act like you know how to treat people with respect.
While I'm thinking about...let me go ahead and send Ronnie a DM to see what I need to do to get hired. I'm not scared of bunch internet thugs and crybabies.
EDIT: I hope that Mike Wang eventually deletes his Twitter account, so he can 100% focus on the game going forward. Those people pour their hearts and souls into this game every year, and it's complete BS that people have the audacity to think they have the "RIGHT" attack anyone, everyone, and everything associated with the game.Last edited by ksuttonjr76; 09-11-2019, 08:50 AM.Comment

Come on back to OS, Da Czar
There will be nothing but respectful discussion and consecutive criticism here. Just report any one who gets out of line and we will take care of them. That goes for any dev for any game, as well. This is a safe spaceMy 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Yep, come on back Czar. Hate to see he left Twitter. Hopefully it's just a brief hiatus and he'll be back. That username comment on 07684918391 or whatever the number was, I actually responded for him to not block my burner account, lol. Hate that these guys have to go through that on Twitter, or anywhere really.
I don't know how many of you have jobs where guys come and heckle you out of nowhere, but I'm guessing not many.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: No One is talking about Da_Czar leaving Twitter??
2k has created this problem themselves. They’ve leaned on the YouTube/Twitter clowns to market their game and consequently can get burned by them, which happened this week. And it will continue to happen. Instead of controlling messaging and coherently marketing the game through one or two verified sources, they’ve left it to social media. They’re screwed and they know it.

2k have been stupid for putting so much confidence in them, like you said it’s come back to bite them hard. I’m sure 2k will see only one way out and that could be bad for sim gamers.Comment

Re: No One is talking about Da_Czar leaving Twitter??
Sorry...this article reinforces the fact that Mike Wang (or any of the developers for ANY game) don't have to do what they do when it's about being an online presence or point of contact. Honestly, I actually support what Czar and the other developers did by deleting their Twitter accounts. The only thing that articles promotes is having an active community manager (aka whipping boy) across multiple modes for when problems occur. The article doesn't promote that gamers are "entitled to any information" regarding game development or being provided answer for everything that's NBA 2K. In fact....
The writer doesn't sound like he "supports" Twitter whiners himself. If they want to hire some Community Managers to deflect some of the negative responses, comments, and anger regarding the game during and after launch, I would GLADLY put in my resume for the position. I promise you...all you would get out of me would the cliche post/response of...
"Thanks for all the feedback. All the information have been gathered and forwarded to the Dev Team. They are aware of the problems, and hopefully we'll have resolution soon for you. Please be patient with us as we try to fix the problems that the community has brought to our attention."

As to the point of the article, 2k does not have a person (you refer to him/her as a whipping boy) that communicates with the community and therefore the communication is not there. They've actually left it to a group of employees who shouldn't have to do it and Social Media personalities to lead the discussion (1st and a huge mistake). If said person would at least filter the online noise and respond to actual relevant questions then the backlash wouldn't be as toxic; whether or not the outcomes agree or disagree with gamers (e.g. we decided not to add more pie charts because we feel the ones provided are suffice). Believe me, I get where those who have left social media are coming from, but it's toxic because nobody feels heard.
Lastly, if you think 2k needs someone like you to be the Community Manager to just respond with generic uninformative responses, that will only fuel the fire that's currently burning. Don't know about your skills regarding customer service, but your customers will respond to even 'bad news' much better if provided a rationale as to why decisions are made; especially one that are the opposite as to what was advertised.
When it comes to things I consider somewhat frivolous (parks, hair styles, people wanting to be 99s after a week, upping stamina so they can pull moves for 20 seconds without penalty, hiding behind 2/3/4 screens before hitting half court shot, etc.), I could care less. However, they are the ones hyping things up so they should respond to what happened to them; especially after taking the money for the game.
I'm done, enjoy 2k20.PSN: KarlMarx24Comment

"We messed up on the coding and the bug was missed during the quality testing phase of the game. However, our engineering team is aware of the problem, and we will try to get that fixed and a patch released as soon as possible.".
A rational person: Okay. Mistakes happen and game developers are human too. Hopefully the patch won't take forever to create.
Toxic Twitter Community: You all so incompetent! I found that mistake in the first 5 minutes of playing the game! Someone needs to get fired, or they need to hire me as a tester, since I paid my money to be one! This is so stupid! We better get a patch in 2-3 days, or I'm going to report you all to BBB for lying and deceitful business practices!Comment

If answers like that were provided, I'd be good; even if they were to say that it wasn't possible to even patch or they just made a decision not to do something and some insight as to why (especially when someone has firmly stated that it would be).PSN: KarlMarx24Comment

Then you would be that rare 1% customer base that would keep it moving and hopefully and patiently wait for the patch and patch notes. The rest of Twitter gamers...nah, I don't have that much faith for those people, but good for you that you don't embrace that mob mentality.PSN: KarlMarx24Comment
