A rational person: Okay. Mistakes happen and game developers are human too. Hopefully the patch won't take forever to create.

Toxic Twitter Community: You all so incompetent! I found that mistake in the first 5 minutes of playing the game! Someone needs to get fired, or they need to hire me as a tester, since I paid my money to be one! This is so stupid! We better get a patch in 2-3 days, or I'm going to report you all to BBB for lying and deceitful business practices!
To be fair... nearly all of the bugs that 2K20 has could have been addressed during the alpha/beta build. Like half of the bugs are legacy bugs, and the other half were evident on day 1. Shoe creator materials not looking right, CAP body length slider not working, 4 eyebrow options not showing up, CPU double teaming guys after 3 scores, badge progression halting, MyPlayers not having names, CAPs being deleted, stuttering and framerate drops on console, under basket shot frequency at 99 for all players in MyLeague...

2K has no excuse of the issues I just named. Most of the hate they get is well deserved, and the example you used for the "Toxic Twitter Community" is the kind of response they should expect to receive after releasing a game with this many faults. If you consider yourself a consumer, you should feel like the gaming company owes you a rational explanation for their lack of competence. Their explanation may or may not alleviate the sting of your response, but it is necessary for the psyche of each and every consumer who feels like 2K sold them less than what they bought.

Having said all of that, social media platforms are the worst place for development companies to attempt a building of rapport with their user base. Twitter is toxic city and often times does nothing more than scream and cry about "DWIBBLE GAWDS blah blah blah". But, hey, the devs gotta do what the suits tellem to do, so who am I to judge? I just don't want Twitter's toxic nature to muddy the validity of a lot of points being made by the non toxic user base; and in this case, a lot of those points are actually being made by the toxic individuals as well. If the good guys and the bad guys are both saying that you f'd up... you probably f'd up.

Well wishes to Da_Czar tho. Easily my favorite 2K personality. He's the reason I even know the word "sim" exists. His NBA2K11 videos changed the way I looked at basketball, both in game and IRL. Seeing how he was able to replicate real life plays in 2K made me realize that there is so much more to this game than what is on the back of the box (ah... I kinda miss physical manuals). Being that I no longer play IRL, his videos detailing the "series" playcall that is in the game now absolutely blew my mind. I personally never use the plays that are in the game, but knowing that there are so many different options there for me on the day that I actually start using them is so refreshing. Da_Czar is not just what basketball gaming needs, but what the world needs.

I'm in the middle of the argument. On one hand I do believe that 2K should have someone communicating with customers and addressing concerns or confirming the issues that they are looking into.

At the same time I do think consumers should use their brains and not mindlessly attack any and everybody associated with the game with messages that have nothing to do with their department. I'm not with the thought that the 2K employee should just pass the complaints on to someone else. If they do that then that would damn near become a full time job since people know that hitting up those employees will get their message heard. If someone is following Da_Czar they should know his area of expertise is with how offenses run and certain areas of gameplay. People should not be flooding his twitter comments complaining about accessories or problem with the park.

However, if it's a feature, like the changing of takeovers as advertised, something needs to be said. It'd be like McDonald's advertising a two patty Big Mac, and giving you 1 without saying anything.
This 100%. Gameplay's foundation should not be touched until at least a month has gone by. During that period though, gameplay bugs should be ironed out. It's funny how fast NBA2K20 has made the world spin. The game has been out for 6 days, yet it feels like we've been through an entire development cycle. This is EASILY the most confusing first week of any game I have ever played. And it sucks because the core gameplay makes me bite my lower lip the same way Angelina Jolie does, then the bugs make me explode like she did in the Tomb Raider games. This game reminds me of a relationship where your wife is the perfect woman up until the kids go off to college. You guys were supposed to spend this new found alone time to have fun and relive the dating experience you had before the kids were born, but the more time you two spend alone, the more you realize just how far you have grown apart. She doesn't enjoy watching you play 2K anymore because she hates MyLeague's lack of RPG elements. She doesn't bring you Mountain Dew in a green Gatorade bottle like she used to. She's changed... and the game you used to love changed with her. While you were in bed, sleeping so you would be ready for a long day at work the next morning, she was up all night talking to other men on the internet. You wake up the next day expecting to see her lovely silhouette in front of the glorious morning sun, but all you see is darkness. The window is covered with a velvet drape. As you begin to fully awaken, you hear a faint voice coming from an omniscient source. "Give it to me", the voice says. You stand up before your heart is able to drop. The shoes your wife bought you for your anniversary are by the bedside. Left foot. In. Right foot. In. Everything that has happened in your relationship up until this point is conjured up into your memory, then erased with the swiftness of a Mike Wang patch. One step. Stop. Two steps. Stop. Eventually, these steps end. What exists at this end is nothing less than your new reality...

You peer into the living room of your 5 bedroom forever home and see a sight that will forever change your perception of life and everything that relates to it...

          She's grinding badges.

A rush of raw emotion overcomes you and pervasively corrupts your mind, body, and soul, in a concoction of love, hate, and sadness that you never knew the human psyche could ever portray.

"Badges?!", you say to her. "You... you... how could you do this to me?! After all of the posts you've proof-read for me on Operation Sports... you do this?! What happened to my wife? Yeah this is the issue. Twitter dudes just be twittering at random devs about random stuff. 2K should have introduced each dev in relation to their department, and made it very clear what each person does. I'm talking bout a post on the main NBA2K twitter that gives their followers directions on which devs to go to for certain specific questions. Twitter is trash though, so it was never gonna work to begin with, but at least there would be a more civilized way to go about it. Take Two loves this toxicity.

the whole premise that any idiot with a keyboard can speak directly to someone in operations of major corporation is ridiculous in the first place and should be put to an end.

whoever thought that would be a good idea didn't know what the hell they were thinking.

there needs to be a hierarchy in communication with the public. people are entitled idiots on Twitter and other social media platforms

You may think it's ridiculous, but look at the amount of communication the 2K community has on a daily basis. No other game can match it's ability to penetrate even the most obscure conversations. You could be at a cookout and as soon as the green beans are put on the table, kids will start showing off their jumpshots and dancing like fortnite characters. 2K is life. It's not a person's whole life, but it represents life as a whole. It's far from perfect, hurts your wallets, and makes you die a little inside from time to time, but it's your game and you will always cherish it. This is the mindset of most people who have ever played an NBA 2K game for more than 1 iteration. So when you see the communication that is being had on Twitter and such, don't forget that everyone involved is a human and just wants to see 2K be great. The issue is that not everyone wants to live life the same way. That's where the toxicity is. But, the only way to defeat toxicity is to talk it out. And as counterproductive as that may seem right now, it is making 2K a lot of bank in the process. Twitter is probably the worst place to have the conversation, but that's where 2K chose to have it, and they are happily raking in that mula to show for it.

TLDR: 2K did this on purpose because they know that communication is key, and they have found a way to make money off of the toxicity of social media interactions.

The 2K community, especially on twitter has reached COD levels of toxic and other sports game (madden/fifa).

Imo gameplay was great, the other aspects are the big issue and they failed the game developers.

Too many glitches such as no name, no badge progression, not get MT rewards in domination. Also MyGM is a whole mess.

That is what Fix it 2K should be about. The gameplay itself is amazing.

The main issue that I will continue to post is that Da Czar gets a ton of heat for things that aren't in his area of expertise. He doesn't deal with Park...at all. He has made that very clear on his streams but he doesn't get any help because there is no clear Park rep.

Call it a whipping boy if you want, but if 2k added community managers for each section, and when issues did arise moved them to the proper places (i.e. devs) then I think things would be a lot smoother.

For years regular 2k support has really been a joke, and not because they don't try. It's because they really have their hands tied behind their back as well. They aren't devs. They don't make big decisions. They literally wait for multiple tickets of the same issue to come in before it gets pushed to the devs... and I know this for a fact as we had access to someone on the inside working on the franchise portion of 2k. That's how 2k support worked.

Either way, again all of this is really off topic. The issue is Czar gets feedback from EVERYWHERE. If he just got feedback from plays, maybe a little myleague offline questions, his life would be 10x easier. Yet, he gets it ALL.

Isn't that Ronnie 2k's job to be the community manager?

The one who stayed up and watched videos of Da_Czar back in 2010 with me? The one who said that she'd rather be married to a pick setter than sharpshooter? Huh?! Where did sh... [heavy breathing ensues] Is that 150K VC....? [you begin pacing] Oh god why did this happen to me!?!? How could I be so stupid!? The late nights, the Pretty Ricky albums you've been listening to... it's all starting to add up. I can't believe I have been so blind... [you sink unto the floor; surrounded by your fallen tears]

Your wife looks into your soulless eyes and says the only thing that she knows to say...

"Mike Wang said he's gonna be dropping a patch soon, so I'm not gonna spend anymore VC until it drops."

You die. insert 50K VC to try again
This brother, lol. Like, I don't even have a response for this post.

I dont think you guys really understand the core problem, the game is literally a copy pasted 2k19 with a few changes, the fact that there are long year bugs still in the game speaks a lot about how little polish they give to the game

they are human beings and can have mistakes, but when they are trying to milk you for VC, and the game is not even released in a playable state, then thats why the outcry happens, being a human being doesnt excuse laziness, being a human being doesnt excuse the radio silence in all communication forms from 2k, the only thing they fix is VC glitches, they do gameplay wide changes that absolute destroy the balance of the game only to change it back 2 days later

its amazing how the videogame industry is, you are paying for a product and you should be assured a quality, a decent customer support and an explanation of all facets of what you are buying, 2k just spits into our faces every year and you still have people saying "poor devs, the toxicity"
