If you're mostly an offline Career guy, it's pretty much the same. I would only purchase if you want to try out this year's gameplay mehanics.Comment

Re: I'm tired of the grind already, am I just being weak?
I enjoy the grind. I'm already at an 81 ovr. The problem is at the end once you reach your goal it doesn't feel as rewarding imo either you realize your build was trash or the grind took the fun out of the game.
I just grind so my players can get Max VC per game I treat him like a bank and I build that VC up and try to get as much to max out another build from the jump.Last edited by zello144; 09-19-2019, 06:20 PM.Comment

Re: I'm tired of the grind already, am I just being weak?
I literally said this last night on my podcast, good to see other people have this same perspective.
NBA 2K20's MyPlayer modes weren't designed to be fun, they were designed to delay you from maxing out your character for as long as possible so that Take Two's executives can brag to their shareholders about how high their "player engagement" is throughout the year.
Unlike real competitive games like Rocket League, Counter-Strike, Overwatch, Street Fighter, League of Legends, Fortnite, et al. -- where the only "grind" is actually getting better at playing the game, not making some stupid progress bars go up -- NBA 2K is scared that simply playing their game without any of the 1990s RPG leveling attached to it won't be fun enough to keep people engaged year round.
It's unfortunate that the sports game with the best designed multiplayer mode (NHL 20's EA Sports Hockey League) happens to have the worst gameplay, and the sports game with the best gameplay (NBA 2K20) happens to have the worst designed multiplayer modes.
Just imagine how much more fun and competitive NBA 2K would be if all you had to do was load up the game, choose a player style, and pick some badges from a menu like you do in NHL 20. But because "player engagement" is the overarching design goal of NBA 2K20, we are stuck having to slog through 100+ MyCareer games before we can finally start having fun.CLICK THE LINKS BELOW, AND SUBSCRIBE FOR TIPS,PLAYS,SCHEMES. Re: I'm tired of the grind already, am I just being weak?
I don't play online, so I enjoy the process of going slowly from scrub to star, although that's probably because my build (KG) is still rewarding to play even at low stat levels. I focus more on winning the game vs putting up big stats. Setting screens, getting boards, and protecting the rim is cool when you feel like it contributes to the team wins. I always make sure I get drafted by the Cavs, so for me, MYplayer is more of a "taking the Cavs to the 'chip" RPG mode.
I agree with the OP though. If getting your numbers up is your main goal, this game is tedious as hell, and of course it is. They want your monies, and it's pretty blatant.Last edited by HMcCoy; 09-19-2019, 10:08 PM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: I'm tired of the grind already, am I just being weak?
It would be nice if they started you at 75 instead of 60 and let you pick some badges to start out with.
I never liked the idea of being the absolute worst of the worst at the start, even back in 2k10. We should start out the same as all the other rookies ratings wise.
You did use to have to start out at 30 overall tho. Maybe next console cycle we can start in the mid 70s instead of 60?Comment

Re: I'm tired of the grind already, am I just being weak?
I dont know, but the grind this year is no where near the pain it was over the last couple of years. You know ahead of time the grind thats in the game.
Alot of people buy special edition/collectors of a game. If you did that here, you got VC to bosst your player up so you didnt start at 60(although I agree you shouldnt start that low). I buy the regular and buy 200k VC and that puts me at the 85. But again, I know this ahead of time and still buy the game.
Im a 93 now, with 100 hrs in the game in 2 weeks. Last year, I was a 93 to end the year starting at an 85 also.
But I not knocking people for not liking the grind. I can understand it. All Im saying is that its not unexpected. Its like deciding to smoke and getting mad you got lung cancer.
And actually it not nearly as bad as last year. But again, I understand its an aquired taste. Also I beleive the feedback is positive. I believe the feedback is why they made getting a 90+ player easier this year.Comment

Re: I'm tired of the grind already, am I just being weak?
While we understand that there is a difference between a real life basketball player, real life basketball, and video game basketball...I mean you could look at it like this...think about how long it takes for a person to become really good at basketball and how long it takes to get in basketball shape. Players grind every single day to get better. They get tired to...but to reach maximum potential, they have to do it. So keep grinding virtually man lol.
This is the idea! But at least give some options like not having to "grind" in the MyC mode. But me personally, I dont mind working it out....since i dont buy every year, last NBA i have was 2k17 and i played it until early this year.Comment

Re: I'm tired of the grind already, am I just being weak?
i loved playing combine and testing builds, and playing with guys that know what they are doing. and it also had matchmaking with same overall and same badges. perfect. why not leave it like that.
also this years its realy easy to earn vc and badges are easier. i just hope that they fix that you dont get endorsment in next seasons, and that is not done intentionaly.
it seems its harder to get badges but it is way easier than last years. you can choose easiest drill and repeat it to get hardest badge. last yeat grind for bruiser/pickpocket was pain in the arse for defenders.
shooting badges are realy easy this year, same as playmaking with lobs.
only problem is lower amound of point on nonprimary stats. so shooters are very slow to grind defence and slashing with low atributes in thatComment
