Button press latency issues OFFLINE
The responsiveness of 2k games have been slow forever but today I noticed that even the Pause menu has latency. The gameplay is almost like I'm online with an excellent connection. I thought it was the tv response time but when I am in the dashboard everything moves 1:1.
Am I missing something?Playing NBA 2K feels like a job that pays minimum wage and then cuts your pay when you get your Bill's right to make it even harder to succeed. I do not like this game but it's the only one in town.
At cheese, I'm trash. At basketball, I'm great!

Even in completely offline modes, I sometimes notice some "mystery lag" when playing during peak hours. It is almost like 2K is still doing something online in the background and it causes frame loss.Comment

Re: Button press latency issues OFFLINE
It's definitely noticeable on the play calling. The extra button press required makes it worse.Comment

Re: Button press latency issues OFFLINE
Agree, it's been a issue in the past but for me it seems to happen when the CPU is running or when I'm playing defense.True bout my business, Mane!Comment

Man I thought it was my PlayStation 4 controller I was about to trade that in until I read this. In particular passing try to pass and nothing happens.

During peak hours of internet etc. as i've experienced them since as far as i can remember 2k17 stuff like 'lag compensation' which means the game plays faster to keep up with cpu and stuff on 'offline modes', you may call me crazy but that's what it is, lightning fast movements, rubberbanding, frame losses, crippled/buggy/messy movements all on offline modes and none related with tv/monitor etc. All my experiences are based on digital copies.
I played the game on different connections and in different houses with different ISPs on those houses and the experience of the game gets changed for me based on the connection on which house i play the game on offline modes.
I'm certain that i'm not crazy neither are you.
PS: It's an epiphany that whenever you notice them you just can't go back off of the realization. Worst feeling of all.Comment

I've been telling this for a while on these streets of OS; that even on offline game modes the game still acts online because of all data that 2k keeps collecting on what we do and how we do stuff starting with the current gen consoles.

I started noticing it myself in 17 or 18;sometimes when I would play offline players would feel laggy and stuck in the mud, and other times the exact same players would feel super responsive like they were moving fast (and even sometimes too fast).
This was/is with me playing on the exact same monitor and online connection, without changing any sliders, and without any patches or updates being applied that might have changed the gameplay.
I remember a while ago a guy on YT showed where Take 2/2K had a patent for an algorithm of some sort that monitors pretty much everything the user does in game...from mode and team selection to how often they buy micros all the way down to button presses.Supposedly this how some people sometimes get those "Personalized screens" for "Special Deals on VC from 2K" which other people don't get.
Assuming that is true,it is a problem. While I understand what they are doing(data mining) ,I don't want my offline experience being messed up so some higher priority background process can formulate when is the time to hit me with another "Act now and get 50% off VC!" splash screen.Comment

I'm actually glad I'm not the only one that noticed it.
