Can anyone tell me how on earth Trae Young deserves a 90+ 3pt rating and all those badges for shooting 35.8% on 8.6 shots (3.1 makes)?


Bradley Beal shoots 2.9/8.4 (35.0%) and sits at 82 3pt rating, Buddy Hield shoots 3.9/9.9 (39.8) and has a 86.

For the same reason Steph Curry has a 99 3pt rating. Favoritism / Fan Appeal

That is not a good nor even a close comparison. Curry shot 43.7 percent from three last season and is 43.5 for his career. He has a wide lead on 3pt made for active players and has the highest career percentage of all active players. No player in the league has anywhere close to his shooting resume.

Young on the other hand has league average 3pt percentage this year and has been below league average since being in the league.

It is easy to see who’s rating is more accurate.

That is not a good nor even a close comparison. Curry shot 43.7 percent from three last season and is 43.5 for his career. He has a wide lead on 3pt made for active players and has the highest career percentage of all active players. No player in the league has anywhere close to his shooting resume.

Young on the other hand has league average 3pt percentage this year and has been below league average since being in the league.

It is easy to see who’s rating is more accurate.

One would really have to look at the data for how open guys are as well. It's one thing to be Kyle Korver and knock down open threes where you are the kickout guy. It's another to be knocking down threes like Steph where's he a primary focus of the D, doing pull ups, shooting off curls, shooting with hands in his face, etc.

Exactly. If anybody ever in history deserves a 99 in 3pt it is Curry. When you look at his makes per game combined with his percentage and how many of them are unassisted and off the dribble he is far and away the best shooter ever.

I have fought with Rashid for years on this same subject. I used the Ray Allen for example for years now. But Curry is a totally different story.

fan appeal but also because he's known as a shooter from all over the court.

Granted the other two can shoot that thang too but Young will pull up from the logo while the other two are more traditional, just with excellent range when need be.

Yes, and his rating doesn't reflect where he belongs on 2K's own scale (how they determine 99.9% of other 3pt ratings).

Just because Curry is the best shooter in history doesn't mean he deserves a maxed-out 99 rating every single season. Especially given the evolution of the badges system - it's not his overall percentage (3pt rating) that makes him the GOAT shooter.

Just because Curry is the best shooter in history doesn't mean he deserves a maxed-out 99 rating every single season. Especially given the evolution of the badges system - it's not his overall percentage (3pt rating) that makes him the GOAT shooter.

Wasn’t saying he should have a 99 every year. We are speaking in reference to 2K20 which is mostly based off last season numbers. My entire point with Curry was your comparison to Young had zero merit. Also that if anybody was deserving of a 99 rating it is Curry.

His overall percentage are a huge part of why he is the greatest shooter ever. The only people ahead of him percentage wise all time are guys who shot wide open assisted threes and their percentage is skewed by the years the line was shorter. People used to try and make arguments about the type of shots people took to argue for their lower percentages. Curry kills that argument cause he takes the most shots, the most difficult shots, and the percentage is still HIGHER than everybody’s. So there really is no argument against him cause he has damn near Steve Kerr level percentages with outrageous shot difficulty.

There was no tangent. You wanted to make a direct comparison of Young and Curry ratings as if they are both way off. You clearly didn’t post Curry numbers cause it doesn’t go with your argument.

99 Curry: 354-810 (43.7%)

So he is clearly far and away better at 3pt shooting than everybody you listed. Curry shooting spot up open threes last season was a LEAGUE BEST 52.5%. With those metrics easily available again it isn’t a stretch as to why he has the highest rating. So yes I agree with you on Young being way off but trying to put Curry in that way off category is clearly wrong and off base.
