    Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

If i go in to play a pick up game as a slasher, why does it put me with a full team of slashers? I know what's going to happen.... They won't shoot any jumpers and the paint will just be clogged all game.

I've now gone into the Rec 5 times and quit every time because of this.

Also, you should be able to just back out instead of having to close your app.

And then i get a team full of shooters but get stuck at the Rec logo.

    20 minutes gone for nothing...

Not defending the matchmaking, but are you referring to them as slashers because of their takeover icon, or because they actually are?

This is actually something that annoys me with how builds are described this year. All the ambiguous labels are silly. Like wth is an 'offensive threat'?

Both. If they're a "slashing playmaker" or even an "offensive threat" with the slasher icon I'll topically back out. I mean, if they're open they might make it. But without reliable shooters everyone plays the paint and im worthless.

95% of offensive threats are also great shooters. It's defense where they lack most of the time.

Press the ps4 button, go up, go to my profile, go right, select “my session” and join.

Loads you right back in the same park.

It’s a slightly longer load than just backing out, but hella faster than closing the app and restarting

You can also do this as a squad, and end up in the same park again so you can squad up faster and re enter.

            Yw bruh

I dont wanna defend 2k's matchmaking, but to expect them to setup a well balanced team every time is a bit too much...Except you wanna wait for an hour or so.

And I dont get why slashing offensive threats are a problem. They can do everything offensively, they just chose slasher as their takeover. I rather quit when I have three offensive threats at 1-3 because we lack defense...

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

The matchmaking is awful because it often matches up 85 ovr teams with 98 ovr teams. I'd like an option to play with and against people near your ovr only.

That said, I think its a bit much to ask it to pair up appropriate archetypes. We'd all be waiting forever for 2K to find a balanced matchup.

Personally I think any build that can't hit a corner 3 reliably is a selfish one if you are going to play a lot of rec. I'd even go further and say for a slashing guard you need to be semi consistent from the top of the arc as well. With a one dimensional build like pure slasher or pure GC/reb, you are essentially demanding that everyone else on the team provide all the spacing. As an example, any combination of mostly shooters with one or two solid bigs is a viable 5, but a combination with mostly slashers and bigs will be a spacing disaster. Pure slashers are for people who want to leak for fast break dunks and want everyone else to spread the floor so they can drive one on one. While pure rebounders/defenders are for those who love to pile up ridiculous rebound stats without doing much of anything but standing in the paint. Both builds work fine in pre-made proam teams, but thats only because they are surrounded with 3 shooters. And honestly most pro-am teams the center is split shooting/defense.

I'm not saying everyone who has those builds is selfish. I'm sure a lot of people pick them with the best of intentions. What I'm saying is that is what they are effective at, not the intention behind people picking them. I can totally imagine someone taking a pure glass cleaner/rim protector because they are a 'team guy' or a slasher. But those builds only work if at least 3 and preferably 4 of their teammates provide spacing.

As for offensive threats, mine has 6 defensive badges and I'm a capable defender. Its mostly about effort. Problem is a lot of people take that build because they want to score constantly and don't care about defense.

i’m tired of getting matched up with these cheese *** pro-am league teams. just taking advantage of the exploits. playing zone and reaching and successfully getting every steal, long *** outlet passes, dribbling behind hella picks and greening the shots with good defense coverage...how is that fun taking advantage of players in walk on smh

Yeah I hate it too. Part of the blame goes to the post 95 leveling system. The only way to level up past 95 is to win, and preferably, win big with crazy numbers. It incentives people to look for 1 sided games.

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

For your information, i can hit a corner 3 on both my builds. I chose the 2 way playmaker build on both my characters. You get enough finishing for contacts and a ton of playmaking badges along with enough badge points for a few HOF defensive badges. I'm very versatile. It took me a while but I've gotten all my badges maxed and am working on getting them to a 99. It takes a lot of boosts and I'm no where near consistent with my shot. But all i have to do is hit one or two and the defense will close out. I'll typically take my man out of the game on defense, often ending up with them quitting. Regardless of my matchup, whether im undersized down low playing the 4, or if im up top guarding the wings. Shooting builds have given me issues when I'm used to helping in the paint, or if im constantly getting screened up top.

I think it's funny that people complain about the all shooting teams running a zone. While it's hard to defend with randoms, my squad will run a zone if need be. Over Christmas we got down big a couple of times but ended up coming back and winning because those same teams aren't used to having their system run against them. Good defense will often result in fast break points which is where my build shines. Sure, anyone can score on the break, but my build is fast enough to play good D guarding the corner/wing in a zone and still get down in transition. If there is a defender back he isn't able to defend me one on one at the rim.

Now that I've gotten my builds up I've been catching some bodies in the paint. It's actually quite fun.

The Only team that gave us major problems was a team that played the passing lanes with 4 defensive builds. We had over 20 turn overs with me having 11 at the point. They didn't have much shooting but were good enough to constantly be on the break to make up for it.

There are multiple ways to play this game, people usually just go with what's easiest.

If you ever played MyTeam this year, you can't put like a SG in a SF position in the lineup unless they are SG/SF or wtv.

The matchmaking in the REC should be the same, fill in the gaps with the positions/height and match the overall with the opposing team. It's simple and seems

I too am getting annoyed going in with a team rated 85 up against a 95 team, just to have the guys quit after the 1st.

Rec itself is pretty awful. With all the ball hogs doing silly things, it's impossible to have fun.

I instantly back out when I have a SF playing PF and one C and I get matched up against two 7'5 Glass Locks... Nope that's an instant L
