I don’t know why 2k is the only company that refuses to use lobbies. It would streamline the experience a ton. I’m on Switch and I can’t get a single rec game. If the population is so low matchmaking just doesn’t work at all, then lobbies would help me find the few players that are out there. THey could keep the Neighborhood the way it is, but just ADD the ability to go to lobbies.

Ideally, the blind matchmaking should be the fastest way. I just think that are way too many users with the OP PF build...not having enough "unique" builds just makes it harder for the matchmaking.

At least in lobbies you could chat and decide what builds to bring out before you load in.

apologizes if this isn't the best thread for this question, but it's the most relevant I could find. Anyone on current gen, (xbox one / ps4), know if the rec matchmaking will give you two AI teammates? curious because a couple friends and myself sometimes enjoy playing rec but can't stand getting toxic teammates, wondering if 2k21 on current gen has those 2 ais in the matchmaking that I know next gen does? thanks, and sorry for the poor wording!

On current gen you have to have 5.

2k had been trending this way for a while with how trash AI's are, but this is the first game that if you are against a full 5 you might as well quit.

Y'all really wanna know what's hilarious?

When you play My Career, the A.I. is vastly different. There have been times when I've had to guard Giannis, Embiid, or some other big and I HAD to really play on both offense and defense in those games. Why can't 2K replicate that in Rec? Give the A.I a few silver badges in their strengths and make them actually play and contest shots or score on 3s. Hell it'd be nice if the PG could give them instructions on what to do.

I don't want to be an *******, but 2K developers are highly incompetent in what they do. They truly are. What the hell goes on at the round table where there's no improvements?

I just don't get the thought process of what goes on behind the scenes.

Don't fall to the darkside of name-calling the developers. At the end of day, NBA 2K is increasing their sales every year, so by the standards of the stockholders...they're doing something right.

By the standards of the stockholders? That doesn't make it right for the consumers though. By that, you agree what EA did that prompted the Battlefront 2 fiasco.

The game sells, and it's been increasing its sales numbers every year for the past what...5-7 years? Real talk...bad games don't sale nor do they keep increasing in sales every year. It might not the perfect replication of basketball by yours and mine standards, but it's enough of a basketball game where people enjoy it.

But between you and I....I think the current generation of gamers are more "dumbed down" than previous generations. I can't wrap my head how so many gamers enjoying playing with OP builds or abusing game exploits just to win a meaningless game of videogame basketball.

Now that I say what I said...that's probably why the matchmaking is what it is in next-gen NBA 2K21. You give people a sense of "accomplishment" when they get to beat up on a stupid AI.

I agree with another poster in a different thread....there's NO WAY that there's not enough people at any given time where you can't get a full squad of humans on both sides.

COD breaks records every year, doesn't mean the game is a phenomenal masterpiece. That also doesn't answer why 2k can't make simple fixes. The AI should be able to atleast shoot and contest. Those 2 things would be a vast improvement
