So are you saying that you hate it when 2k leave a shooter with the Ball open in order to steal Passes? why dont you just Shoot/attack the defense then?
This is NOT playing defense. Stop it 2k.

Re: This is NOT playing defense. Stop it 2k.
its worse then that.
I've been telling yall this.
2k's interceptor badge and steals rating, will make it so that the ball being passed will slow down in mid air why? to give the defender time to catchup to it for the tip or steal. this happens a lot when defenders are in the game with high level badges. i didnt say in the passing lane. just semi in the area. it will slow your pass down a lot. especially if you're passing ability is lower than 90. and you dont have needle threader up high.
In addition, this started with 2k19 i believe. when they made defense be the main thing about the game. they OP'd all of the defensive badges that matter. but they also made it so that a defender can press or keep spamming the steal button, while you're pressing the pass button as the offensive player. and if their press of the button beats your. it will at times stop you from throwing the pass even though you pressed the pass button. you will take a few more dribbles/ steps if you're moving. and it will delay the pass. which will once again give the defense time to see your now what some would call telegraphed pass. well dang 2k, if you didnt stop my button press the pass would've worked out perfectly. now my teammate is yelling "why didnt you pass it quicker" i'm yelling back "I cant i cant."
he doesnt believe me and thinks its a conspiracy to ice him out. thanks 2k.
the better defenders in the game and the more of them in one game on one team. the more silly animations or a lack of animation on passing you will see.
for instance any of you notice when you hit the pass button at times and lets say the ball is in your right hand, and the guy you're passing to is on the right side of you. you should probably just do a nice one hand pass to the guy on that side right? or at worse a nice crisp chest pass with two hands. But NOPE. 2k has you switch hands and throw a one hand left hand shuffle pass to your teammates ankles. Doesnt make any sense at all but to ...again..slow down my obvious simple pass. why? to give the defense a chance to steal it, tip it or close out on the receiver.
this is why i say most of the defense thats being played out there by guys with 2 ways or pure defenders is not real defense most times. it 2ks cpu help defense via the badges and unrealistic programming. the game doesnt have to be this way. yes 2k has always had an issue with passing speed. but i can see really nice crisp passing animations in this game more so than any other version. yet they decided to nerf that good upgrade to force fake defense. I ..Can't...Stand it.
oh and i found out another secret to this passing and stealing stuff.
I had to fix my passing sliders in my controller settings. I use to have it on default then i tried to tweak it a few ways. i realize the way i direction pass (i hate icon passing because that split millisecond it takes to bring up the icons has just killed the initial super quick pass i could've made. now we know icon passing is much safer than direction passing. most of the time thats due to the sliders for passing. they have some of the sliders setup for openness and distance. so the game tries to figure out if he/she is pressing the controller in this area and there are two possible receivers in the area. should i pass it to the most open person or open area? and/or should i pass it to the most open person/area and the person the farthest away(not just talking about skip passing which doesnt work right 30% of the time unlike when it was first introduced and it worked correctly every time you held the pass button down. why would you change this 2k? makes no sense at all.
so due to those passing sliders, the manner in which i use direction passing, especially with my playmaker. I need the freedom to pass it correctly to where I aim. i dont want your help 2k for passing to open players or open areas. I can do that on my own. so i turned all of the sliders for direction passing all the way up to i think 98 or 99. This has made my passing 10 times more accurate to the direction and area i'm trying to pass it to. its not perfect and at times you hit the closer guy when you wanted to hit the farthest guy when two offensive guys are parallel to one another. and sometimes you hit the furthest guy at times as well.Comment

Re: This is NOT playing defense. Stop it 2k.
NO, in past 2ks it wasnt nearly as necessary to go to such an extreme with my personal controller passing sliders.
due to the FAKE interceptor badge steals, its a must. because if you dont, you're giving 2k even more control over where you pass goes, and because they made unrealistic programming logic attached to that interceptor badge and your steals ratings. to give defenders too much of an advantage in this scenario. and almost no disadvantage. just stand around spamming X and RT to zoom from one side of the court to the other for a fake steal or fake tip. wash, rinse, repeat. there's a reason all of the elite players/teams run zone. they dont run zone because guys cant shoot and they want to stop drives. they do it to steal the ball in the passing lanes. because the game is broken (as far as realism is concerned) in regards to defense.
Yes i understand so is offense at certain aspects. but 2k has to stop the nonsense of nerfing this, OP'ing that, nerf this, OP that. to try an counter a programming mistake. How's about turning the ridiculous offense down if that is actually the case, and how's about turning down the ridiculous unreal defense. but no, if they do that, people who dont really understand the game of basketball will not be able to compete anymore. those users are using these badges as a clear crutch. without it, they would fall.Comment

Re: This is NOT playing defense. Stop it 2k.
Part of the issue here is that some of the animations you get aren't really contextual, and therefore don't really replicate what you'd see in real life. For example, if you drive baseline, have a shooter in the corner, and his defender is camped out under the basket trying to play the passing lane, in real life you'd just reach out of bounds and throw the ball around them, or you'd put a little more touch on the throw to get it over them. It's difficult to recreate either of those animations in 2K with consistency. The lob passes tend to be too floaty and the other just doesn't trigger most of the time.NFL: Bills

When you driving baseline, the corner player opposite you should be rotating towards the wing to give you an outlet pass. Trying to make that pass to the corner is not a good pass. When you driving baseline, the shooters should be at the wings, at the top, or the corner behind you.Comment

Re: This is NOT playing defense. Stop it 2k.
So you guys both have PGs. You telling me that it's a bad pass to be 1 pass away from the wing when dribbling top of the arc? Or lets say you're passing 1 pass away from the wing to the corner? These are bad passes to you? With an ELITE defender such as Kawhi, what should be the success rate on a deflection or steal in these situations? Should the player with the ball have to loft pass these passes or should a simple bounce or chest pass suffice?
Because when playing against a zone, with guards heavily pressuring you up the court, once you cross half court, these passes are frequently picked off against steep competition.
You're arguing about corner to corner passes, or even kick out passes from the paint.
I'm simply stating that even 1 pass away passes are being picked off at a high rate.Comment

At the :22 mark, they attempted to double team me in the corner and even added a 3rd player as I was dribbling towards the wing. Notice how the AI positioned itself at the top, wing, and far corner. I threw the pass to the far corner, because my big had the defender closed off underneath the basket.
At the :41 mark, the defense is in a 2-3 zone, and the two guards are positioning themselves to trap me near the half-court line. I let the double team get near me, and then I did a change of direction. As I was rounding the corner on the defender, I had a choice of hitting the big on the left or the wing shooter. I decided to go with the shooter.
At the 1:28, they decided to triple team me near the half-court line, because my big was slow coming back on offense. I just made the simple pass, but I had two targets. Truthfully, if they didn't hit the two contested 3's and the third 3, the game would have been a lot closer in the 3rd.
From the wing to the corner is not a bad pass. You just have to know when to pass it. Even in my example, I passed from one wing to the opposite corner, but I was aware of the defenders' positions on the floor.Last edited by ksuttonjr76; 03-06-2020, 04:51 PM.Comment

Re: This is NOT playing defense. Stop it 2k.
I agree with Howard
The defense of 2k20 is trash
But passing correctly and shooting does combat this stuff

Re: This is NOT playing defense. Stop it 2k.
It's crazy how you can post actual NBA footage of what people are complaining about and have those same exact people ignore it completely and keep complaining....Comment

Re: This is NOT playing defense. Stop it 2k.
Its easier to complain and blame the game, then admit its your own or teammates fault.
Not to mention most people think they are better then they actually are.....

Re: This is NOT playing defense. Stop it 2k.
Then that's just a limitation of the game and not the defense is being OP. Even then...

Re: This is NOT playing defense. Stop it 2k.
thats not right. if you drive baseline then the easiest Pass you can have is the Pass along the baseline to the weakside corner. the Pass to the weakside wing is very difficult to do, as you have to Pass the Ball through the whole paint including All the defenders. at least in Real Basketball it is like this.
This will usually be an open pass because you are already behind the basket
Passing for a wing 3 would be a super risky/difficult pass, which would 90% be intercepted and you also concede an easy 2 on transition
Related to the OP I find comments that intercepting passes is not OP to be in complete denial.
In almost all online games users try to intercept ALL inbound passes after basket. ALL... Why?
Because it is effective. Has anyone noticed this in a real basketball game in combination with the success ratio?Last edited by kabamaru; 03-07-2020, 08:30 PM.Comment
