I’d also like to see an overhaul of shooting. 50-60% would be elite shooting. Whites are bricks. Very early very lates are airballs.

Make it much harder to shoot and teams would have to at least run motions.

Defense would be more realistic in the fact that you could play zones the real way they were intended to be played.

I guess the common theme is making the game more difficult

Which is a tough ask because 2k doesn’t want to alienate the casual player.

Which is why they could have two “modes”

A comp mode with tougher sliders (closer to 2k league build)

A casual mode for casual players

This is a step beyond cages/park/pro am.

It would give you the ability to chose your competition level.

Casual with 2 friends but wanna play rec? Fine.

Tired of blowing everyone in rec out by 49? Try comp mode.

Really it could just be the difference of difficulty changing the sliders tbh I’m not picky

You have to blame 2k more than the people that are running Full 5's themselves. It's damn near impossible to get games in PRO-AM and it's been that way since 2k changed the matchmaking for a 2nd year in a row. Once you hit a certain rank you're not gonna get any games and the devs have been aware of this for months. Constant dashboarding and rejoining the arena has got old now. I'm not a fan of running Full 5's in JRC but this year it's gotten to the point where you have to go in with a squad.

If we run a full 5 we usually get another full 5 about 75% of the time which is cool because it makes the runs that much better. If you're running with randoms at this point of the game I feel sorry for you. It's quite an experience.

Yeah i never understood how you've been playing online for years and never made any friends. Lol i got friend requests pending since 2k14 prolly. I've sent friend requests that never got responded to and the other way around. Made a bunch of friends over the years, deleted a bunch of friends over the years. Got into a circle of about 20 people that play all the time pretty early. We've all been running with each other for years. Basically, since the Rec was invented I've been getting full 5s together.

The problem isn't having a full squad. The problem is if those 5 people have played enough together we know what everyone is going to do on defense. Offense is another story. Without running plays or playing 5 out, I've done both, there's no real telling how we're going to play. But if we're all on the same page defensively? It's curtains.

I used to run PG for our death line up on 2k19. We would play a full lock down squad. I was a 6'10 2way playmaker SF at point. Everyone else was a pure LDD. We blew teams out by 70 by getting stops almost every possession. Lol

I’m from Europe. The player base is smaller, and all the different countries and languages make for lesser incentive to mix and mingle with randoms

I don't blame people for running with a full 5, when I can I run with 4 of my friends I do. I just don't get why they have play like it's game 7 of the 2k league finals. Me and my boys just play, these other guys are running sets all game. I wish I was recording when we played the "Spurs" the other day.

Double screen dribble hand-off pistol action all game with some slice post sets mixed in. These dudes were way too serious about games that don't even count. If I was playing that team in Pro-Am I'd be glad because they were playing real ball but in REC it's silly to be trying that hard.

it would have been a sight for sore eyes. and where else are they supposed to learn the plays? the arena isn't synced and doesn't have bots.

In pro-am private matchmaking? If they care about the mode enough to run those kinds of sets they can set up practice matches against other teams.

Y’all telling people to private match make not knowing you don’t get rep for it lmao

I know a bunch of sweaty players who are like pro 3 still because all they’ve played this year is private match ups

                    Super pass. I’m elite 2.

Blame 2k for never fixing matchmaking in 5v5 pro am.

Once you’re pro gold you literally never get games

So you’re restarting a team everyday to go 20-0 against people just as bad as the bots in red

Except you’re waiting 10-20 minutes INBETWEEN games

                    I’ll pass

Well of course you’ll never find a game. Everyone is hunting easy rep in rec vs randoms

I run with both squads and solo/randoms depending on how long I plan on playing for. Some people just want to hop in a game and play asap. It takes longer to find and invite players or do a looking for group. So it's usually a time thing not a lack of people to run with thing. 2K21 just needs to separate the squads from the solos.

As someone who runs REC with a full squad most of the time...It becomes IMPOSSIBLE to find a game in the team arena when you advance to a certain level. Pro-level matchmaking often times yields no games. We'll try and try and try with no games found. Most of the time we just restart the team creation, but that gets old. And then the competition resets to a level similar or often worse than what we can get in the REC.

Because all the teams are in rec.

Real comp are in pro am leagues.

It’s because everyone is in the rec because everyone is making a valid excuse that there are no teams searching and finding games takes too long.

If 2k incentivized team pro am play by making triple or quadruple rep/VC I guarantee you’d be able to search for a game in team pro am. There’s really no reason to put yourself through the rigors or team pro am right now

Ppl left team pro am at first because it was too hard and lets just be honest about that. I find it hilarious how no one brings that up. I can sit in parties all day and the main complaint about team pro am will be that every single game is extremely hard and ppl want chill out sometimes. But at what point did “sometimes” become every time out? The pro am’ers ruined the rec for everyone this year.

Ppl didn’t want to play an insanely comp game every single time out. Over time it turned into a situation where so many teams wanted to avoid competition to the point that finding games became hard.

The team pro am experience is just miserable this year, and I say that as someone who would love to only play this mode and never set foot in the rec center if that was at all possible. But this is the reality that pro am teams face in 2K20:

Bronze & silver tiers = You tend get games pretty quickly but usually end up in boring lopsided matchups where you're blowing out bad teams who play worse than your average rec center squad.

Gold tier = You have to wait 10 to 20 minutes between games and still might end up playing bums in the tiers below you who won't help you get any better at the game and are just wasting your team's time.

Pro tier = Finally the games become consistently competitive but it's now a huge struggle just to find one game much less multiple games in succession. I've had nights were we'll search up to 30 minutes and the matchmaking will still not find a single opponent.

So in 2K20 the 93 overall and higher rec center games offer the best combination of quick matchups with competitive players.

I don't blame anyone for staying out of team pro am this year because the experience frankly sucks in 2K20.

2K21 should go back to the 2K16 system where everyone had a pro am team record that was permanently tied to their own gamertag and couldn't be reset. Then all you had to do to start a game on your team's account was invite everyone to your MyCourt.

Ever since 2K19 it's been a struggle just for this new matchmaking system to find games, let alone games that have accurately matched the skill levels of the two teams.
