I just find it dumb that the system is essentially “greens or nothing”

I agree 100%! I am a 2K fan but why does it seem like these companies with the Ultimate teams only care about that stuff instead of fixing the gameplay! 2K Basketball gameplay is now as bad as Madden! I thought I would never say That!!!

I've definitely given your suggestions a try before and after I made this thread and I may have seen a slight to minimal change but its still not even close. Since I've been home more in the COVID-19 era I'm playing the game a bit more and I'm just flat out discouraged with the shooting.

I study the release in practice mode. I work with all different shooters in practice mode but when I get in a game I can have a player standing alone on his hot spot taking an uncontested shot and I probably hit 10% of those shots which is atrocious given the fact that I've played 2K since the Dreamcast days.

Gets pretty irritating when all the game amounts too i layups and one on one situations to get dunks and layups. If I didn't get layups and dunks I'd probably average 8 pts a game or less. There is a slight possibility that I might suck...But even if I was terrible I'd likely be able to hit a few 3's and outside shots on a more consistent basis
