Re: We Deserve a Separate Button for Dunks & Layups
There ARE 2 different buttons. Layup is no turbo, and dunks are SUPPOSED to trigger with turbo.
I don't care if I'm driving on 25 people standing in the paint, if I'm holding turbo he should ATTEMPT a dunk. If they need to add more animations to where I'm getting blocked, getting my legs chopped out from underneath me, whatever... There should be a give and take.
There is nothing worse than being a finishing character, seeing someone standing under the rim, getting the contact gather and then getting put in a soft layup that bricks or gets blocked. That's like being a three point shooter, seeing yourself wide open, your character taking 2 steps in all on his own and bricking a long 2.
It's so counter intuitive it's ridiculous.Comment

Hopefully they can add a boatload of injury animations to accompany this.Concrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

Not accurate. It's pressing dunk button WHILE driving to the hoop. The criteria for where the "driving" area is, is the only thing that needs to be learned by OP, not 2 different buttons. All this takes is going to MyCOURT and trying out different dunks and layups and see where they're most likely to trigger at...
I have an Interior Finisher build, and when I want to dunk I dunk, when I want to layup I layup. It's pretty straight forward IF it's truly uncontested. If it's contested, it may give you different animations (from dunk to layup) to account for being contested.Comment

This would also improve the ability to take a charge if they implemented it correctlyComment

Seriously, if I'm trying to back down in the post 15 feet away and try and dunk THROUGH and OVER my defender, there needs to be an animation for that. Idk what that would look like, but instead of a long hook and bricking, i feel like i should look like an idiot.
If im holding turbo under the basket and i have the rating, my defender better jump perfectly to not get the foul. I should also have to be wary of getting blocked. Rather than, automatically there's a defender between you and the rim so you're going to do a layup no matter what. Maybe there's a specific spot and an angle that it's POSSIBLE to trigger a standing dunk or a contact. But seriously... What's the point in investing in standing dunk if there's only a .01 percent chance of getting the animation you trigger?
Once again... If you were a sharp shooting 10% from deep no matter WHAT animation or badges you have equipped, you'd stop playing that character, right? What's the point of building an athletic if someone just BEING there is going to stop you from dominating?
Drummond was having a career year before he went to Cleveland. Dudes have to do more than just BE there. It's not like he's posterizing every play. But he makes you work inside. Stay on your feet, don't jump, keep him out of the restricted.
When Shaq was dominating? You HAD to bring a double. Often times he finished THROUGH the double.
I've made every permeation of slasher on this game for years now. They've always been the red headed step child since 2k18.
You can green a 3 on 2 defenders more often than you can get contact dunks in this game.
I may not always CONVERT the contact when it triggers, but i wish i had more OPPORTUNITIES than just getting soft layups when I'm trying to go strong.Comment

Re: We Deserve a Separate Button for Dunks & Layups
While I wouldn't have a problem with more failed dunk animations, let's be real here. Slashers are just as OP as sharps, post bigs, defenders, and playmakers. Let's not act like they're the worst build in the game.
You have 6'9 PFs running around in REC with gold quick first step and HOF contact dunks and they wreak havoc. My boy complains about not getting foul calls, but he still averages 20ppg without ever shooting a jumpshot. He's a 6'3 point guard too.
Red-headed step child slashers are not. If you know the angles they are just as strong as any other scoring build.Comment

Re: We Deserve a Separate Button for Dunks & Layups
So basically you want something like nba jam?
You press dunk so you should dunk regardless of anything else.
Seems very very very arcade tbh
Aint that what the cages and street courts are for?

The problem is not KNOWING what your man is going to do.
As stated previously, there are times when I'm CLEARLY starting a dunk gather only to get shoved in the back or just running into my defender and throwing up a garbage layup.
You can RUN INTO a sharp and not change their shot animation. Why is finishing one way and shooting another?Comment

Re: We Deserve a Separate Button for Dunks & Layups
If i got blocked 100 out 100 times but my man attempted a dunk all 100 attempts i would consider that an improvement on how it's currently implemented. I would take my L and keep rolling.

Its a video game.
Their are a limited amount of animations.
Its up to the individual to learn what animation triggers when.
Using absolute control you can pretty much pick which animation you want to trigger wether its a dunk or lay up wether its driving or standing.
The only things you need to consider is distance to the basket, players positions and stamina.
With the right badges and the right ratings yourself you should be able to trigger what you want if you know what you are doing.
Now if you have an 85 driving dunk and you expect to trigger the animations you would get from a 99 driving dunk well then there really is nothing more to say tbh....,

K guess I read it wrong. But we've already seen what you were saying with guys dunking on 3 guys for just being there, forgot which 2K it was but it was blow by + jam cheese. I'm glad they're erring on the side of defense/contesting shots or being in the way actually matters more.Comment
