Can someone explain the Shot Meter off boost?
Was watching this 2k Labs video and it doesn't make sense. Mike Want says those who turn off the Shot Meter and hit the excellent window will receive a big boost. What I don't understand is why would I need a shot boost if I green my release? Green release is that same thing as the excellent window, right? Green releases go in 100% of the time.

Imo, 100% guaranteed releases are a flawed idea in the first place. Making it arbitrarily easier for some just based on their preference is worse.

The boost is an increase in the likelihood of getting a green when you do time it correctly, essentially making it slightly easier to get a 100% guaranteed shot.

Are you saying a full bar white is good timing? I never considered full bar whites good timing because my white shots brick.Comment

All told, poor mechanic.

Re: Can someone explain the Shot Meter off boost?
If you time it perfectly within the green window with meter on on with their example, 55% of the time the game grants you a "green." With meter off that percentage goes up approximately 6 percent. Essentially, yes, full white means you were at or near the green window but were not granted a green.
All told, poor mechanic.

Sorry, I just never got into the shooting mechanics of this gameComment

Re: Can someone explain the Shot Meter off boost?
Simply put, the green release 'window' (or room for slight error on your part) is increased. So it's not an increase of shots going in, but a slight increase in ability to green.PSN: KarlMarx24Comment

Re: Can someone explain the Shot Meter off boost?
Ive learned to rely on animation to shoot.
The meter is ****, and timing a shot is difficult with lag spikes and difference between jumpshots, pull ups, fades in timing.
The only thing that seems consistent to me is basing my point of release on the animation

Re: Can someone explain the Shot Meter off boost?
It's all based & pre-determined on who is scripted to get the greens anyway.
I've played hundreds of games this year online & can say that I've had games where I can green every shot I take & others where I brick every full bar using the same players.
So until they fix the inconsistency, I'm hesitant to even call it a "boost".Comment

Re: Can someone explain the Shot Meter off boost?
to be honest the shot meter should be abolished, real life basketball has no meter, no 100% guaranteed made shot, no perfect timing, sometimes your release is perfect and the ball just doesnt go in, it is what it is, shout out out to all my real hoopers that play with no shot meterComment

Re: Can someone explain the Shot Meter off boost?
heres how i understand it:
Picture a target with the bullseye being equivalent to a green release (excellent timing) and the various outer rings being progressively worse releases. Also instead of an arrow you're shooting a paint ball gun.
now let's say a standard shot leaves a standard size blotch on the target, but badges and/or defenders proximity can increase or decrease the size of your blotch on the target. A larger blotch would then theoretically allow a shot that was slightly late/early to over-lap the ring its in and reach the bullseye.
I imagine that good timing with the meter off would also be a factor that increases your blotch size.
hopefully that makes sense lolComment

many other can cash out with my myplayer and in association with practice.Comment

There is no 100% guaranteed shot on perfect timing this year.
