Thats well and good but what is wrong with 2K targeting something along these lines? According to Shakedown this vid is from 2019. We wont know until later this year, anyway.

The reason the animations look so realistic is because it is purely cgi. It is already predetermined movement, There are no branch animations required at all. It’s hard to not have sliding and funky animations when there has to be user inputs to determine where players are moving.

Claiming this to be the baseline is completely baseless, although I’m sure the new systems can reach this level of graphical fidelity, movement may not look as realistic.

I'm also having that problem, someone's gif/video is taking up the whole page.

And as for that clip, it's from a virtual betting simulation. It is CGI, predetermined proceduralevents. Not a game that can played. That company's football betting sim was posted in the Madden forums too, but it is not a game and not a feasible "baseline."

My link broke that page. Or specifically quote of the post I made. I managed to replace it by blocking gif with adblocker but it still remain in other person quote which i cant do anything about.

Point was made that we had that sort of fluid animations during mycareer cutscenes already with same engine when its just a 3d animation without gameplay mechanics

If history is any indication, it's gonna look pretty damn good. And then slowly regress as they pack more and more into it.

Just looking at that rim/net etc. I can't imagine it looking much more real than that in future gens etc.

The standard is pretty high now. Visually it's hard to have any complaints anymore, loving that.

The game will look nothing like this.

Not saying it wont look good. But this is not from the game.

I understand all of that. I play 12min quarters in ML. 95% of my time is spent playing ML. I play a lot and I watch a lot of CPU vs CPU gameplay. CPU vs CPU gameplay is a lot smoother with less sliding and clipping; especially with lower body up and inside shot contact sliders. It is nowhere near as realistic as this footage (I don't want to jank up the page anymore) is but it's noticeable. I know the user input element changes things, I do. I just looked at Chase's thread with the trailers for the next gen releases and 2K6/2K7 had a similar look to this footage. I don't think 2K21 playing similar to this is a reach. It may be. We'll see. I'm not gonna be heartbroken or anything either way. But I'm one of the people around here who enjoys 2K anyway so barring that 2K14 online crap I'll enjoy the 2K21 for the graphics if nothing else.

agree with those that say this is cgi. or it's edited together with cgi footage.
the lighting has alot to do with this as well, and could it be that the footage is 8k.

it looks good though, but i do have to see game-play footage.

Mostly 2k anytime shoes a visual of a game that says in game footage it’s 95% what the game visual looks like. I never walked away from 2k saying they lied to us about how the game looks . Worst they do is have a few bad face scans and body types still need work

While it says it is "Actual" footage, note it doesn't "in-game". I'm guessing that's simply because it isn't "in-game", i.e. this isn't footage of a moment the gamer will actually experience. It's a tech demo.

When you started adding 9 other players, refs, bench, crowd, etc, and the camera zooms out (real "in-game"), things may not look quite as detailed or smooth.

Anyway, IMO the star visually was the rim and net, not really Zion, and that may very well be an accurate in-game representation.

Yeah 2k14 had the same pre alpha text, of course the lighting in a actual arena will change the way players look in additions to the resources the system uses to render everything else on the screen, hopefully the PS5 SSD will help.
