I said folks have hatred for women. As in general. Anytime a video game adds a female character, it's met with backlash as if it makes a big difference.

I could see this coming with them including the WNBA in 2k20 and so on. This has also been requested for years. I don't really give a **** to be honest it'll be cool I guess. I don't really care about "realism" with this so I expect them to be able to dunk and what not. They could even make it part of the story.

I'm only a bit more concerned about the park crowd with this. Knowing that there are a bunch of immature kids who play NBA 2K. I'll give it like 3 days max before someone finds an exploit and we get nude women running around in park.

If this is a purely aesthetic thing, I'm all for it. It would be weird seeing a 7'3 chick doing 360 dunks, but whatever.

If they're going to let female characters have inferior ratings and still play against the rest of the population, I'm less for it.

Male Feminists make sense, considering actual feminism helps men as well. One of the biggest things about dismantling the patriarchal system is abolishing this need for men to act a certain way or not be considered masculine enough to be male. Feminism is intersectional, and isn't just a bunch of "man hating" women. I'm assuming you know this with the way you took your shot at "male Feminists" so casually. It's the 2k community, so unfortunately I expect this.

Back to topic: I'd hope they go the live route as currently they provide no incentive to pick a female myplayer if they segregate them by attributes. In a game where everything is a cheese fest, it makes no sense to cater to "realism" now. I'll go with the flow. I'd love to be able to make myself, and it would help with dysphoria...on the other hand this community is toxic AF sooooo...

I'm always for more realistic gameplay. However, when I talk about realism, I'm much more interested in an animation playing out smoothly, and in the proper context, than I am whether it's a male or female model attached to the wireframe of said animation.


Let female MyPlayers be used in every mode, and don't restrict their attributes at all. If there's a girl who wants to create herself in the game and go run some Park/Rec (without being at some kind of disadvantage), then let her have that option. Is it really that big of a deal? Again, I'm all for "realism," but we're basically talking about a cosmetic item here. I think this is an instance where we can bend reality just a bit in the interest of inclusion and fun.

Toxic Masculinity is a very real thing. The idea that men all need to be a certain way or they're somehow less than other men is pretty disgusting and abusive. The amount of things that get brushed off because of Masculinity is mind boggling.

I would be fine with either style character, but as much as playing as female would help my dysphoria, I'm not playing with a hindered myplayer. So....if they're needed, I'll be playing as a boy...again.

Edit: to clarify, there is such a thing as "Toxic Femininity" as well. Pretty much anything that uses gaslighting and abuse to force people into these stereotypical boxes of what is/isn't masculine or feminine is toxic, and harms people on any part of the gender spectrum.

However, not all cultures share the "Men hunt/Dominant" rhetoric. There are plenty of cultures in which men are the ones that raise children while the women hunt. So unfortunately that line of thinking is moot. Biologically, men tend to develop more muscle mass due to testosterone. It builds muscle quicker, and I can certainly confirm that from personal experience. However, there is a distinct lack of certain emotional spectrums limited by that specific hormone. I can also attest to that from personal experience.

I completely understand the basis for the argument of having female players not be as good from a biology perspective. Estrogen makes it harder to sustain muscle mass, and during my transition I lost 90% of the muscle I had gained without changing my workout regimen. However, from the perspective of a gamer, why include a class that will be inherently destroyed by the other.

What incentive do I have to play as a female player over a male one then? Most games have set advantages for class. Class A is a big strong tank, but slow. Class B is weaker overall, but faster and more maneuverable. It balances out based on preference and pkay style.

But in this sense, it's blatantly saying: "Don't pick women myplayers because they can't compete". At that point it's not worth including them. At that point it actually IS a waste of resources, because you're including a whole set of things no one will use because they are just completely out classed.

I do think a lot of the complaints the 2k community has in regards to "equality" are valid, but some definitely border on Toxic. This community is ****ing Toxic. Period. I'll show you the messages I get when someone pops onto my profile and realizes they got dropped off by a Trans Woman. Or the death threats I get just turning my microphone on. I'm not hyperbolizing here, either.

I really think that it's a catch 22, and unfortunately because basketball is so ingrained as masculine...and is especially prevalent in communities that tend to be anti-lgbtq and overtly toxic as far as how anything non masculine is treated...there's no good answer to this current situation.

You either waste resources by making a completely unplayable class, or you even the playing field and listen to the community bitch and moan because a "girl shouldn't dunk on me".



There, I tried to make sure I stayed mostly on 2k for you. I'll gladly have a discussion or debate if you'd like to take it to DMs. I'm very much not trying to be a bitch, but I deal with a lot of the talking points you bring up on a regular basis. I've had to do a lot of research on this stuff in the last 3 years because I'm expected to justify my existence on a psychological, genetic, and biological basis nearly daily. I'm open to good faith discussions.

i’ve seen nba players hit 40 foot 3’s just not at the clip we see in pro am.

women with 40 inch verticals and an elite first step don’t exist at that point this becomes nba jam. they don’t play above the rim or through contact not to say they aren’t skilled.
