I think the online game is deliberately designed for hero ball as well, so a lot of people come into it with a complex. Teams are an afterthought and playing as a team is not rewarded enough.

Like, most bad interactions online in NBA 2K is actually between teammates. In my experience that's a rare achievement by 2K.

Nah that's another age old problem. It's like the is passing a liability thread, people don't pass, they don't get passed to, it starts a vicious cycle where people have like passing PTSD. They just don't understand how to pass or move and they feel that if they give it up on a look that isn't an assist, they aren't gonna get the ball.


It IS kinda fun to be aggressive, though. I don't even know if 2k rewards it as much as people think. You gotta do some pretty wild stuff to carry with hero ball. You need some help from your teammates (picks etc, or bad d), but it's fun to pull crazy shots or do crazy drives once in awhile. I'm basically passing off almost as soon as I get the ball most of the time. I see the ball in the air coming to me and I've already decided who it's going to. That style of play is v successful esp with guys who love to shoot. Every game I have played where dudes come down and try to get shots, even if it's like two guys together, we tend to lose, so I don't think it's really designed for hero ball to be successful. Altho, I do think it should be more punishing. They get rewarded for playing like trash way more than they should...

I'm expecting the MyCareer story for next gen to be different from current gen. What if it's a Love & Basketball type of story but I think that would be too mature for 2k's main audience. They could make them brother and sister or just friends instead of lovers and that could work too I guess kinda like WWE 2k20.

I for one, am excited to see this feature implemented. I just wonder if they'll utilize the creator in a method similar to the one in myleague so we can get more than just a season in the WNBA mode

You must have missed the part earlier where I said I had to do a ton if research to literally justify existence. That included looking into gender roles, and the antiquated notion of them. I'm not sure why you're so hell bent on disproving the concept of toxic masculinity. Do you mind explaining what the big deal is? What harm is it to you if you're not actively that way? Legitimately asking

If there was a glitch to give you a slight edge in gameplay by picking a female character, every YouTuber would have female MyPlayers the next day.

If there is any disadvantage at all, no one will play them.

This. This is what I've been trying to say(atleast the 2nd half). Everyone acts like this is a waste of resources...and they will 💯 be right if female characters are disadvantaged in game. I want them badly, and I won't touch them if they're not competitive and out classed.

Do you really need to ask why some wouldn't be giddy about the term "toxic masculinity" lol. It's taking many traditional and biological masculine traits from thousands of years in the making and labeling them as "toxic", trying to create a stigma and likely confusing tf out of kids growing up.

Yup, you're totally right dude. The only way to avoid be called a toxic male is to be an "absolute beta cuck" instead of, you know, not sexually harassing women, bullying others, or being homophobic. Nice extremist argument. Jesus christ dude how hard is it to avoid doing these things and treat everyone like normal human beings? Almost no one (and I say almost because there will always be those few) believes that all men are toxic, but the truth is that there are far too many men that are. And this isn't simply because of gender, but because of societal norms and gender roles normalizing this behavior have been in place for far too long. The point of calling this **** out is to eliminate these norms as much as possible and allow men to be able to open up more and be who they want to be instead of conforming to these standards. Again, this doesn't mean that masculinity in and of itself is toxic, but rather the current toxic societal norms associated with it are. It absolutely doesn't mean that masculinity should not be appreciated.

As far as those terms being "overused", it literally should not matter or affect your view on it. At the end of the day racism is still racism, fascism is still fascism, and toxic masculinity is still toxic masculinity. You should be able to think and interpret different situations for yourself and determine what is right and wrong. If you can't then maybe it's time to acknowledge that you have a personal bias that you need to overcome. We all have them at some point in our lives...
