Great write up Funk. This article covers almost everything in a nutshell. Hopefully the Devs will pay attention to the Sim Community that continues to grow. Lastly, Daddyleagues for 2k would be a great idea, not sure why 2k isnt following Madden in that regards. I would pay for that for my league in the quickness.

Perhaps it depends on the console and region to some extent? Scott wrote this not me, but he's a long-time commish of 30 team leagues for many years, so I highly doubt he would be fudging the truth about his own experiences with the servers. (I didn't play in any leagues this past year so don't have much personal input here.)

I too can attest to the 2k20 servers being the most stable and reliable for any 2k during this current Gen of ps4 and Xbox one. My 30 man online association is still going strong having completed a total of 10 29 game seasons. The drops have been far and few between and the offseason server glitches that swim alluded to having plagued 2k19 MLO were addressed once we figured out the pausing of timer work around. With the servers and glitches having been addressed hopefully the devs can now focus on making the offline myleague and the online MLO a seamless and near 1 to 1 experience with a full porting of the offline features.

Even if they added nothing for 21 and kept the mode the same with stable servers I wouldn't be mad. At the end of the day the members of the league with a tight knit community that is invested in their franchises can make up for any lack of immersion that the presentation features lack. The ability to have a spectator mode aspect to the MLO where all games are broadcast via twitch or mixer is a game changer in allowing us to capture highlights, screenshots, archives and other presentation elements that are currently missing from the mode innately.

A dedicated website for the mode where admins and members can conduct transactions like fa signings and trades along with other things like boxscores and game tracking would be nice to have considering we had this stuff back in 2k9 through 2k13 on old Gen 2ks.

Overall I highly doubt that MLO will be included in the 2k21 next Gen platforms if 2k14 on next Gen is any indicator. When 2k14 was released to a new generation of consoles it completely left out online leagues and they didn't fully return until 2k15 in barebones platform before finally being ready for prime time in 2k16. I really hope 2k proves me wrong but if not my members and I are fully prepared to stick to 2k21 on this current Gen even with minimal improvements to the mode. Having something is better than nothing and new splashy graphics won't convince me to buy 2k21 on the new generation of consoles if it doesn't include MLO.

Certainly there were several periods of time where online leagues games were unplayable due to connection/servers issues during this year... Other than that 2k20 my league online was quite satisfactory in my book...

Hopefully 2k21 next gen won't do this time what 2k14 next gen did with my leagues online, that was really a disappointing year.

That is my biggest fear Guardian. The nightmare of 2k14 where they completely left out online leagues. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself with 2k21 on the new generation.

Very well articulated. We have professed 2k's neglect for MLO  ad nauseam  at this point, and no where is it more evident than the sub par servers we are relegated to every year. While the game is recognizably improved, having servers play a role in wins and losses, or entire seasons scrapped due to off season glitches are still key points of frustration. In terms of new features, there are bars for cennectivity and accessibility being set by other games that 2K could emulate, being able to access MLO online or on your phone would be clutch for example, but sadly I would just settle for a fully functional game.

I agree with this write up, especially with offseason, contract extensions, and the jersey bug for MLO.

Contract extension bug along with the mentor system omissions seems like an easy fix for the devs but what do I know. Let's hope they are addressed!

Great article, he definitely touches on a lot of the issues and concerns that our MLO community has been dealing with for a few seasons. Hopefully the 2K devs see this and make some considerable changes so we can enjoy a more robust MLO experience.

2k20 overall is an excellent game in my opinion but I would like to see a few things to improve the product for online leagues.

1. More separation between stars and perineal bench players. It is very frustrating to see a 72 overall with a 72 three ball shoot consistantly like Ray Allen.

2. Overpowered abilities...No reason why players like Andre Drummond can average 25 rebounds per game. You literally can see the ball morph to his hands when he is out of position. Part 2 of this is better physics, this will prevent players who are boxed out by two 7 foot players from somehow jumping out the gym to get rebounds.

3.Fix layup system, no way a professional misses layups constantly especially all stars. One could argue stick skills but hell some should go in on GP alone.

4. Adopt some type of skill based progression system so it is up to the us to build up skills similar to dare I say Madden. Have drills to complete and receive points to assign based on how well you performed the drill. Current progression system allows bums to be all stars in two years

5. Allow leagues to test the game and show you the bugs or things that need tweaking. Longtime leagues like SCH, home to some of the most dedicated and hardcore NBA 2k players around would gladly test for you.

Again, overall a great game and fun to play.

Any of the MLO'ers who use HOF sliders able to make shots other than green ones ?

What slider do you guys use? Bcs as far as HOF goes nothing goes in other than greens..

I think HOF is just nothing were you can expect realistic results.


We usually start with superstar sliders as a base, and this year even then you hit barely anything that isn't green. We increased the 3pt slider to 58, now you can hit these "slighty" shots, too, and sometimes even non slightlies will fall.

Do you go base Superstar sliders and tweak only 3pt to 58? Is that it?

Or maybe can all-star be more balanced and risk/reward correctly?

We also change stamina (53) and fatigue rate (47), as we feel that Stamina drain is just too heavy on default with no players really getting more then 24 (out of 40 possible) minutes.


We tested All-star this year but then shooting gets way too easy with a bigger green window.
