Re: NBA 2K21 Modded Controller Debacle - Not Some New Phenomenon

I hope it gets the right exposure for 2k to do something about it, especially we are starting a new gen with ps5 and series s/x.

This is not just for auto green shots, they also use this for defense in play now online such as "set to zone def, fast switching of players while spamming steal button" this makes it that their AI players are harassing you endlessly even a simple pass would get stolen easily. if they foul too much they will just reduce automated steal button like from 0.3 seconds to 0.8 seconds but still AI would continue to harass you and the auto steal pass.

In PNO asia server almost 60%+ of players are using this. You get steph and thompson shooting 90% from the 3s is so unreal even you smother the hell out of them. What they do about latency is I think they write your username and record the input delay they needed to auto green. I noticed this when I fought a cronus user who used to auto green me all the time but the time i used a different psn he keep missing and the only thing he does is shoot 3s from the same spot and before the game ended around 3rd quarter he now can't miss a single shot. lol

I saw in the recent patch notes: "Changes to Shot Aiming system to prevent modded controller abuse"

So is this properly fixed now to prevent people from abusing/cheating while using these modded controllers to shoot for them or is it still an issue?

As long as there is 100% shot input timing possibility its gonna be an issue.

Yeah played a bit after the patch and I see no difference. You have guys easily draining threes.

            Shooting is just OP, lol

as Chase stated, modded controllers have and will be in existence regardless....even if 2K does change mechanics.

Whats funny is people are spending big money on these packs and mods and finding out its not quite they thought.

95% of Youtubers use them and use them during competitive games

A dude from the DF clan got caught using one after making a video “just to show how OP the controller is”

I don’t trust anyone with a modded controller even in their house. There’s no way you won’t bring it out if things get hard

This is why i can’t stand cheaters

Re: NBA 2K21 Modded Controller Debacle - Not Some New Phenomenon

Funny thing about this game has always been, if you can take away the 3 most teams have no other strategy. Even so called "comp" teams have been exposed when we played team pro-am and especially in Rec.

When playing with randoms the basic drive and kick game is difficult because hardly anyone is on the same page.

We would always have shooters, but our shooters knew how to make the extra pass, or dive when the play called for it.

Last couple years I've mostly played in the front court. I was never a great shooter, even on marginally good shooting characters. I always needed that finishing as a back up at least. That's why the guard positions ended up being a rarity fir me.

My defensive playmaking 6'7 SF last year could play the 3 or 4 and even the 5 in spells.

I would mostly guard the corners and the baseline in the zone. What they were forever unprepared for was me sliding up to grab shooters, or my ability to get stops and rebounds on the weakside.

That advanced level of defense where you can truly cover ground and shut down a side of the court was what i lived for. Eventually in 20 i made Bigs that could tangle with the 7'3s a bit better. But there was always a good feeling about blowing up someone's offense all game.

I just wish i could get that feeling more often...

The way the game is played on extremely high levels is to mitigate any help defense whatsoever.

That's just hard to replicate without feeling cheated. While NBA teams play 5-out more and more every year, there has to be enough room for human error on offense. As long as shooters can blow the top off any defense, without penalty, the game feels one dimensional. Even the greatest shooting teams in HISTORY, as a TEAM have not shot over .50 on the season. There have been a FEW individual players who have held that mark for a season. But if you get 3-4 players on a team in 2k that have enough chemistry on offense or defense and they all shoot 60-70 percent over THOUSANDS of games together, there's no beating that.

When the ENTIRE team shoots over .50 percent EVERY GAME, the value of the 2 point score is relatively meaningless.

The LEAST 2k could do is make the Rec to where if you shot SIXTY percent in a game, that would be a GREAT game.

If someone takes and makes 6-10 3s in a game, that's 18 points ALONE in a 5 minute quarter game. Not even HALF the league in the NBA averages 18ppg in 12 minute quarter games. Thats over TWICE the amount of time, about THREE times the total shots you get in a REC game, and teams STILL score 100 points in the Rec on regularity.

That's just absurd. There are teams EVERY YEAR in the NBA that don't average 100ppg FOR THE SEASON.

Scoring 100 on the Rec is NOT difficult. That means shot percentage is crazy ACROSS THE BOARD.

Screw "it's a video game". Screw "it's supposed to be fun".

This is NOT supposed to be a boring game, duh. But there needs to be better balance ALL AROUND.

Shooting has always been the BIGGEST culprit, but its DEFINITELY not the only thing wrong with the game.

HOWEVER, it would be very nice to at least have a DIFFERENT CONVERSATION in next gen.

                    That's true.

They have to get rid of this stupid 100% green release mechanic. Mike Wang said years ago it was one of the biggest mistakes he's made, but so far has dragged his feet and done nothing to rectify it. IMO he's become way too concerned with what people want on social media & youtube instead of just focusing and making a realistic game like they used to have years ago.

I believe with all the attention these devices are now receiving and with more and more people buying them in order to cheat he's really not going to have a choice. He's going to have to correct this issue sooner rather than later or else the whole integrity of the game online will just continue going downhill.
