Curry drives to the basket (at 58 seconds), Powell stands near the paint and decide to not help. When I saw it the first time I didn't notice it, but it's a terrible defensive play from a good defensive player. Why they decided to choose this play? Same gameplay problems :/

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Trailer & Screenshots
Crowd and player detail looks way more better and I can see some kids in the stands other than that nothing really jumped at me. That crowd noise better be updated as well as the player movement. 2k can be way to heavy on the animations.Comment

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Trailer & Screenshots
SpoilerJust gonna be a difference of opinion here. This looks night and day. Very deliberate metaphor here. As the lighting is incredible. Reflections and the quality of the crowd and sideline people. Seeing Luka enter the floor at moments I thought I was watching a real person.
Interesting nonsense sequence with a ton of things happening at once during timeout was a deliberate choice. I bet one of the things they'll be able to do in people's beloved Park (I couldn't care less about Park) is have WAY more games happening simultaneously.
More fidelity. More simulated elements are possible. To say nothing of the hand to ball contact and ball physics look stronger. (Nets still look janky without any resistance to them, like it's made of twine, not thick nylon).
And once we get the games in our hands and we realize we will go from picking teams to the games starting in seconds? Right into the sports show with Ernie and them? It's gonna make playing older games impossible due to load times.
I think you touch on why some people might be unimpressed with this trailer and next-gen visuals in general. This generation seems to be more about improvements in more of the small, subtle details and areas than your typical big leap in graphics. Some of the visual upgrades might go unnoticed or under the radar for some people because they don't realize how all of the small improvements add up. For example improvements to the crowds and people on the sideline. That's not something a lot of people are looking for but when you take in account the hundreds of people in the stands receiving improved models and details on top of the more in your face improvements that's a lot on the technical side of things that people might not be picking up with their eyes.
In a way it's similar to 1080p to 4k. Some people might not think it's a huge improvement while other people are like "but look at all the improved details in the picture and background!"Last edited by scottyp180; 10-06-2020, 11:12 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Trailer & Screenshots
Faces look great but the frame rate is stuttering up close, so they're probably higher quality models in cutscenes and drop back to lower in gameplay.
Other than that, the movement looks identical. And that's not good.
The animations are what holds this game back.
And you only have to see the threads on non-sports forums. Gamers that don't know basketball are all commenting how weird the player movement looks.Comment

I'm blown away. It's a different time than 2k14 and there was no way that any game was going to have as big a graphical leap as back then. That being said this exceeded my expectations. I cant really see how it could look better.
Really though that's not even close to what makes this game look like it's going to be insane. It's those atmospheric touches and all the fine details. Just watching that trailer and seeing the world surrounding the action react, it was impossible not to get excited.
I'm not telling anyone how to feel but if you are honestly meh..... about this trailer I'd be curious to hear what you were expecting cause everything I'm seeing here looks like a significant upgrade.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Trailer & Screenshots
I'm in the "not impressed" camp.
Are player faces photo-realistic. You betcha. Are there a bunch more people running onto the court during time outs? Yep. Was the "Doncic running out of the tunnel" scene cool? Ice cold. Are players sweatier? Dripping.
But for me, I don't need to pay $60 for improved faces and textures. I want more realistic player models. I want less sliding and smoother animations. I want balls which go CLEANLY through the hoop more-often-than-not (like in the actual NBA).
Based on the trailer, it doesn't look like I'm getting those things. It looks like a shinier (pun kinda intended) current-gen NBA 2k21.
Hope I'm wrong, but don't think I will be, as trailers are supposed to highlight the positives.Comment

Even if I buy it day 1, still might hold off playing it. Yeah the roster update is a small thing, but even if I play MyCareer, I still want the roster to closely resemble real life. Little things like tendency updates, players coming out of no where, roster moves make a difference for me. Plus there are other games, I want to play first.Comment

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Trailer & Screenshots
A few thoughts from me
-Footnote read "All footage captured from a work in progress build NBA 2k21 on PS5". That could mean a number of things, or maybe it doesn't mean much. But even if there are significant changes or not, this footage isn't the "final" product.
-Dame and Zion look insane! Although idk how realistic that facial expression is for Zion on that windmill, caught my eye right away.
-That tunnel sequence was awesome! But is it something that happens before every game? Won't know till the game is out I guess. Needless to say it was a nice touch.
-Steph and Klay look on point!
-When Klay is taking the jumper in warmups, the shadows over his face don't look natural. Not a big deal, but just something I noticed.
-Off ball player movement looks a tad robotic, not super smooth. Doesn't seem to be much difference from current gen.
-Player models seem a bit off on some guys. Boban looks too thin, but he's such a anomaly of a human, maybe you can't get him perfectly, and that's fine by me.
-Basketball going through the hoop, the ball looks a little soft, couldn't see too much detail imo.
-Lighting looks good, and dare I say it...sweat looks better!
-Kidding about the sweat.
Overall, I don't think it's quite as big of a jump from PS3 to PS4. But I think we're getting pretty close to the point where graphically, I honestly don't expect that huge of a jump because PS4 was pretty realistically looking already imo. We're just about a month away, so hopefully they start cranking out new videos and screens of players. We're almost there fellas!
Also, I really need to secure a PS5.....Last edited by RyanJS08; 10-06-2020, 11:25 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Trailer & Screenshots
Watched in 4k and I'm still not impressed. Don't get me wrong, it looks really good, but I'm not impressed at what I'm seeing. Just goes to show how good 2k has been detail wise and graphically. It's just the lighting and the arenas didn't take the leap I thought they would.
Not one game I've seen on next gen has made me wish I had a pre-order. Like I said this is the most underwhelming console transition. Possibly due to the times we're living in, but I can't see I feel like I'm gonna be missing out on anything.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Trailer & Screenshots
I'm sorry guys but I'm on the boat where 2k can achieve this kind of graphics this gen if they were given the time. Don't tell me other wise considering how good Last of Us 2, GoW and even RDR2 looks this gen. With that being said, I will be looking forward to more news on these upcoming weeks. Maybe I will board the hype train but I swear if I see Mike say that it's a lot harder to get greens on next gen I will lose my ****.Comment

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Trailer & Screenshots
I'm very picky about buying games in general, especially full retail price. But I don't see Next gen versions getting discounted until earliest maybe February or March. So, I will most likely buy it day 1 because I know price isn't dropping any time soon, I'm confident 2k will deliver, and with annual sports titles, I have a mental cutoff date to purchase a game or I feel it is too late in the cycle.
Even if I buy it day 1, still might hold off playing it. Yeah the roster update is a small thing, but even if I play MyCareer, I still want the roster to closely resemble real life. I love the emotion. It's clearly not the graphical jump from last gen but the game looks amazing. The lighting looks perfect. I'm so ready for this
