There is no money to be made for a stand alone WNBA game. NCAA Basketball didn’t make money either which is why both EA and 2K dropped it. Packaging it with the NBA game as an incentive for more sales is the best way to do it. Using the same engine reduces time and costs too and this probably doesn’t take a crazy amount of resources to add. If you don’t like it, don’t play it. My daughter has played it with me once in awhile and she also plays basketball. So there ARE some people out there that do enjoy this.

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Video with the Developers - New Game Modes & Features
I mean honestly, what % of players who buy NBA 2K are female, or buy it wanting to play with WNBA PLAYERS? I understand, its a professional league and theres a "market" for it... but why not make a WNBA game? if the demane is there, make it? Most people who BUY NBA2K, buy it for the NBA---- i dont know much about data and all that, but I would assume, if they were to remove the WNBA stuff- it could be used to better NBA2k. Just a pointless addition to 95% of people buying the NBA game----
1) There wasn't a WNBA game before, so there's no "data" to disprove that it WON'T sell.
2) Of course people who buy NBA 2K buy it for the NBA, because it was primarily a NBA game. Duh! Honestly, I could almost make the counter-argument that people mainly buy NBA 2K for the MyPlayer mode, and that the NBA part is really the "wasted resource".
3) Studies will show that gamers will more likely approach new IPs when the main character resemble themselves. There are female gamers who do play NBA 2K, because they like basketball, but are forced to play male avatars.
4) There is a game menu. Don't select the WNBA modes, and you won't have to worry about it.Comment

It can't be helped I guess, but damn, gamers are a selfish lot.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

I guess I should have clarified... I'm specifically talking about Kellogg and Anthony. Neither have called an NBA game since the 2014 lmao. And you hear those two the most after Harlan. No clue why they can't get Breen Van Gundy and Jackson. Hubie Brown, Reggie Miller..
QUOTE=basehead617;2050250692]The two PBP guys are Kevin Harlan and Brian Anderson, 2 of the top TNT PBP announcers for national broadcast - Brian Anderson did the western conference finals this year.
Doris Burke, Chris Webber, Steve Smith, Greg Anthony, Grant Hill all do national broadcasts all the time.
The only people you have a point about are Brent Barry though he did games until recently, and Clark Kellogg who hasn't in a long time.
But who are you talking about?[/QUOTE]Comment

WNBA is in the game to help grow the league which = more money
It’s a low risk high reward
Well worth it to meComment

I know they got the wnba rights late in 2k20's dev cycle so most of these new features may have been in the works for a while. Outside of that there is no market the WNBA is a failed business venture for the nba so far...sometimes i think it's just used for social engineering.
I remember watching a wnba game last year that had a commercial that tied in abortion, lbgtq rights and something else all in one lol. I hope the guys in this thread batting for the WNBA support that league as it needs all the support it can get.Comment

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Video with the Developers - New Game Modes & Features
This video left me.....unimpressed.
Graphics are a step up but not the LEAP I was expecting and the movement still leaves a lot to be desired. "Samey" is the word that comes to mind. Hopefully we see an actual jump in 2k22.
I would love to see an actual groundbreaking change to the way a 2k basketball game animates rather than just a touch up. I haven't see a big change since 2k10 --> 2k11 and maybe 2k13 --> 2k14 (the last Gen change).
Stale...stale....stale.Comment

Re: NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay Video with the Developers - New Game Modes & Features
I went back and looked at the comments on some old 2K14 next gen gameplay (well next gen back then). According to many of the comments, NBA 2K14 on the PS4 wasn't all that impressive of a jump graphically or gameplay wise.
