Imagine how many resources went into making park/rec and how bad of a decision that was for their trash servers, cuz yknow 2k overworked + can't afford servers. Basically we should be happy they can come up for air once a year and release a game, imo. haha

    double post.

Some jobs pay extra hours and some even do it with an extra rate.

So working those extra hours can be very lucrative to say the least lol

If you love your job its a win win doing something you love and getting additional pay for it.

Now if you hate your job and you aint getting paid extra then it might be time to move on or have a long talk with your boss about needing some extra hands.....

      You must be young...

I don't know too many grown adults that actually love working so much that they don't mind not being around their families....

By law, you have to be paid for hours worked after 40 (unless you're salary), so I don't know why you're treating that like that's an extra benefit.

I'd lol if Mike Wang wasn't on salary. 99% of the people that work on this game are likely on salary.

Because you dont know them it must not be true?
Solid argument coming from a “grown adult”.

Should look up what workaholics are.

Try getting a job as an auditor for 1 of the big 4.
Their culture is all about working overtime.
            Its pretty much mandatory.
And when you audits in the profit centre you will meet plenty of people who work overtime.

            Some love it some hate.
All like the extra pay they get.

I'm pretty sure him and his team are salary. Personally, I had always prefer hourly wages. The problem with salary is that they basically have the right to work you at many hours they seemed is "business necessary". Very few companies offer compensation beyond a certain number of hours.

Being a workaholic is not a badge of honor. Some people like to drink, but that doesn't mean being an alcoholic is a badge of honor.

I'm glad he brought up public accounting because I am actually an accountant who works in public accounting. Trust me, not a single one of us loves working these hours. The people in Big 4 are the most miserable accountants out there also. There's a reason the Big 4 has a 90% turnover rate annually and it is a race for all of them to get out of public and into industry.

Minus a bona fide workaholic, I really don't know anyone that enjoy working long hours unless they're trying to get out of financial debt...even then, that's just doing what you need to do to get stuff taken care of.

Yeah, that's kind of the point of salary for the most part. The employer guarantees X number of dollars per week with expectation that they will get at least as much as , and quite often more than, X dollars worth value out of the employee every week. The advantage is a reliable income since pay is not tied to hours worked, which can vary depending on the amount of work available.

Hourly usually offers less pay with the expectation that more often than not you will be done with the work day on or before time unless there are extraordinary cimcumstances in order to avoid paying out time and a half.It also offers the benefit of the employer not being allowed to pester the employee with work matters when the employee is off the clock, whereas salaried employees are often considered to be "always on the clock" when it comes to availability.

Hourly is always a better gig than salary. I would never take a salaried job again in my life. They squeeze every drop out of you and expect you to be available 24/7.

Wether something is a badge of honor as you call it , depends on that persons point of view.

                          All of matter of perception.

People pro something will have a different view then those against it.

As someone who plays video games being called a gamer is of no offense to me.

People who hate video games will also tell me being called a gamer is not a badge of honor.

Well yeah you have to love your job to enjoy working long hours lol.

                            Take athletes.
Most dont mind putting in extra work.

Doubt they would have the same mentality if it where a 9-5 desk job.

                            Goes for pretty much everyone.

When you are your own boss , you tend to work longer hours compared to when you work for someone else.

Ofcourse it depends on what you are doing aswell

WTF? You're really arguing over nothing and REALLY trying to push the goalposts even further back. A "gamer" is just that...a gamer. That like me saying I'm a basketball player...a fisherman...a bicyclist...a chef...a gardener. It's what you are or what you like to do. Making the statement that you made is implying that there's something mentally/socially wrong with being a "gamer". Being a gamer is NOT the same as being called a workaholic. Being called a gamer is more like being a called a worker. A worker is someone who works. A gamer is someone who play videogames.

Dude gaming can be seen as an addiction and a social problem.

Their are gaming rehabilitation centers for that reason.

So yes there are people that believe that their is something mentally/socially wrong with gamers.

Their are cases of people playing non stop and then dropping death.

Their are cases of people streaming themself in first person and shooting down people like they are playing CS:go.

In asian countries gaming is a serious social problem as people apparently locked themselves up in their room to play videos gaming for years only leaving it to eat breaking all contact with the world outside the game

Seriously stop living under a rock....

                                As for this thread.

2K is a billion dollar company.
They can research if a business model is more profitable or not.
So no need to imagine anything or to wonder about stuff.

If a 2 year cycle with 2 teams was more profitable they would know and would have implemented it already.
Its a businessmodel that has been around for years.
