Real question for some of you guys. I was mainly a park/proam player but stopped playing over 6 months ago because I just never had any fun between everyone having the same builds, the game being severely imbalanced, and my irl friends never buying a next gen console. I just recently decided I would come back and give Play Now Online a try since I have no friends lol and years ago I was a very good pno player. But after a couple of days and even winning most of my games I can't remember a moment where I was actually having any fun playing it. The only fun I had was when a player kept doing the stupid quick pause every time they made a highlight or hit a 3 and ended up timing themselves out of the game which was hilarious. But the game is just tedious to control, none of your settings actually stick and the AI is insanely bad to the point where they just don't do anything intelligent. Like center with a 30 3 just standing at the 3 point line while your being doubled and refusing to cut to the rim. And what happened to the lead pass button where when an opponent tried to do that you could just lead your teammate into open space for easy scores. I don't know, it seems like the AI just will never do anything you want it to. Defense feels horrible to try and control and even offense it feels like most players are like driving semi trucks around an rc course. Are you guys having fun?

I made a thread about this maybe a year or two ago. But I just remember breaking down how how the influx and influence of badges was destroying any hope of a realistic basketball experience and the vast majority of people responding were in agreement. Then the next game dropped and they literally doubled the amount of badges you could earn and the gap between influence of badges vs ratings became wider than ever. People don't even make builds to get rating anymore. They make their builds based on how many and what type of badges they can get. It is completely nonsensical at this point.
But the devs are their own worst enemy in regards to gameplay. First they make green releases as an addiction oriented mechanic, then make it so that you can get guaranteed greens at a certain attribute level. They also make their whole mycareer grind built around unlocking badges and keep adding more to keep the engagement with mycareer even longer. So in order to keep players engagement with this mode high they have built a game where actual basketball IQ and tactics are subservient to badge levels and and timing a single button press on a single animation. What makes it even worse is that the mycareer badge grind has conditioned players trying to get badges as quickly as possible to play in a completely selfish unrealistic manner and players carry that over to the online modes. The combination of all this has created a really toxic environment where it is hard pressed to actually ever play a game of realistic basketball.

Bro, the days of realism in sports games are gone. We are playing against like 15 year olds man. You not gonna get a realistic experience online bro. And TBH, im not sure 2k is even trying to build the rec and the park to play a "realistic" game of ball

I had very little time (pretty much zero) for gaming this year, and I didn't get a pS5 and I didn't by old gen 21 until a month ago. I spent very little time with it.



I'm curious about where all this is going, but as a strictly offline MyNBA (MyLeague) type player, if I have to do ALL THAT FIXING and slider testing and roster editing to make it playable, managing 30 teams on a micro level and trades and signings, etc., I would need unreal gameplay to make me want to try that again.


It seems like I haven't missed a ton, no?

I feel you bro but to TBH, with MLB, Madden, and 2k.. I think 2k requires the least amount of edits by me lol It just seems if you want a sim experience, that's what you gotta do.

That new boxing game ESBC looks like they are aiming for a highly sim experience. Hopefully they deliver and we can see how the market reacts. It has become my most anticipated game.
