That is so weird that you think NBA 2K20 is one of their worse games, while I think it's one of their better games, lol. Of course, some people think NBA 2K21 is a great game, and it holds the honor of being the less played NBA 2K game I ever owned.

Yes, I am having a lot of fun playing 2K21 NG. I hate MyCareer is so bad because the CPU is terrible overall and it’s too easy. I don’t enjoy the park either. I just play REC and I am having the most fun playing online since like 2K17. They do have a lot of work to do but I can’t say this game is bad or boring when it comes to playing online.

2K20 was just different man lol. 17 and 21 are my other 2 least favorite 2Ks but as much as I had issues with those games, I still played them a ton. 2K20 was just unplayable to me man. The slow jumpshots, slow movement, the hopstep cheese, the bad interior defense etc. everytime I played that game I legitimately got angry LOL.Comment

Re: Is This Game Even Fun? Next Gen.
I only really play ProAM, Rec, City.
My group of friends (all with new consoles) stopped playing 2k a while ago. The all players the same and the trouble with playing defense was too much.
I have returned to Xbox one and played some "JV Rec" as it is called. That was fun, felt like defense is an option.Comment

I guess the slower pace of NBA 2K20 is probably why I like it so much. The game does eventually slows down enough that players have to understand how to play a half-court offense without relying on calling for a screen on every possession.Comment

Re: Is This Game Even Fun? Next Gen.
I play this game because it is the only good sim bball game in the market. However, playing Rec/Park on your own is a total sh*t show. Defense is non existing. It's like the defenders can't turn their hips fast enough. There is no skill gap... people are out here catching contact dunks and hitting yellow shots thinking they're good. We got people getting dragged from the 3pt line to satisfy the contact dunk animation. idk how 2k can fix this honestly because there are people out here that really play like garbage messing up the experience for others. idk how to feel at this moment just need to vent. I want to love this game but man its hard to enjoy it.Comment

Re: Is This Game Even Fun? Next Gen.
This game is utter ****. One of the worst basketball games ever. Definitely the worse 2k game ever. I’m talking next gen to. So I only imagine how terrible last gen is.
Terrible unnecessary animations that totally break immersion. Sliding players so defense is basically unplayable at any decent level. Dumb AI teammates who literally just leave players open. I can go on and on. This game is not fun and 22 will be much of the same. Pass.Comment

Originally posted by NoLeafCloverOnline gameplay is terrible because the community is terrible and full of "gamers" who don't know actual basketball, and the tons of badges added to the game over the years bail out people for making bad decisions.
E.g: it's become a game made for idiots.
Offline is still fun a lot of the time though.
Badges seem to be one of the worst things to happen to this game. Maybe initially they were subtle and worked but now certain badges are complete jokes in how unrealistically effective they are. Such as HoF or even gold Posterizer, Intimidator, etc.Comment

NBA in general had catered to those clowns in many ways. It’s cultured from the ground up. The incessant threes, the stupid body gyrating foul baits, the holding up games to whine at refs, treating defense like an afterthought that just gets in the way of easy offense. It’s just the vibe today’s NBA breeds.

Honestly, they are too many damn badges in this game and most of them are geared for the offense. I really think the consoles don't know how to handle that many variables when we play the game.
Blinders and Deadeye literally gives the finger to on the ball defense and good shot contest without even getting into the factor of OTHER badges and good aiming giving the player an offensive boost.Last edited by ksuttonjr76; 08-01-2021, 10:25 AM.Comment

What bugs me is... how hard is it to sit down and say "Maybe we got too many badges?".

But the devs are their own worst enemy in regards to gameplay. First they make green releases as an addiction oriented mechanic, then make it so that you can get guaranteed greens at a certain attribute level. They also make their whole mycareer grind built around unlocking badges and keep adding more to keep the engagement with mycareer even longer. So in order to keep players engagement with this mode high they have built a game where actual basketball IQ and tactics are subservient to badge levels and and timing a single button press on a single animation. What makes it even worse is that the mycareer badge grind has conditioned players trying to get badges as quickly as possible to play in a completely selfish unrealistic manner and players carry that over to the online modes. The combination of all this has created a really toxic environment where it is hard pressed to actually ever play a game of realistic basketball.Comment

Re: Is This Game Even Fun? Next Gen.
I made a thread about this maybe a year or two ago. But I just remember breaking down how how the influx and influence of badges was destroying any hope of a realistic basketball experience and the vast majority of people responding were in agreement. Then the next game dropped and they literally doubled the amount of badges you could earn and the gap between influence of badges vs ratings became wider than ever. People don't even make builds to get rating anymore. They make their builds based on how many and what type of badges they can get. It is completely nonsensical at this point.

I REALLY enjoy using my Center in REC, but it feels like I'm stuck with providing screens, rebounding, and blocking shots. It's so rare that ever get the ball down the post unless it's an easy dunk. Even then, I'll press up on the right stick expecting a standing dunk, but somehow I'll get pulled into a layup animation which results into a missed bunny.Comment

Re: Is This Game Even Fun? Next Gen.
As the song goes "heck naw to the naw naw nawwww"
I play Rec, Park, H2H & MyTeam, but find myself irritated with every single mode.
MyTeam is absolute Looney Tunes status now that they're trying to find ways to make every single player that has played in the NBA a 99 rated player. Defense in that mode is pointless because everybody is a 3 point shooting god even when covered by another 99 rated player.
H2H has been irritating because I hate having play with this Tier system. I don't want to be forced to play with teams I don't care for just to rank up. Take it back to the old school where it was all about playing with the teams you like and seeing leaderboards.
Rec is a shid show because most of the randoms that play are only there to rank up their MyPlayers by trying to make their teammates quit with their ballhogging. Even if you do play with a squad, you will be forced to play against a squad of randoms that will most likely quit if you dominate.
MyPark lost me once they started to turn it into a city of advertisements. Please take me back to when they used regular parks like Rucker so that I can get that authentic streetball feel. Also make it so that all of the buildings you can go into are on their own server so that more of the people roaming the park actually play ball instead of going shopping.Thee I Love

Re: Is This Game Even Fun? Next Gen.
Just got a next gen console a month ago and have been doing a Franchise allowing CPU vs. CPU games to play out. I haven't played a user game at all and don't plan on it until the new game comes out. I'm using the ATD roster with a few slider tweaks and am enjoying watching the games. Yes, you can see where improvements need to be made...but I'm thinking the new game will be better."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment
