Just got my PS5 a week ago and have been playing quite a bit of this game since then. Just casual Play Now or NBA Today against the CPU. All-Star difficulty with default sliders.

I'm not sure what's happened, but the last few games the CPU has been very anemic offensively. I'm talking shooting percentages for the quarter and half under 20%. I'm far from great at this game, so it really has little to do with my defensive skill. The CPU just seems to miss nearly every shot it takes, including open and uncontested looks.

Is anyone else noticing this?

Before this, my experience with the game was overall very positive.

To really fix the game you need to play around with player tendencies. For current players raise mid range tendencies for many and lower drive tendencies.

To fix your issue when CPU goes dumb, try two things: Raise CPU on ball defenses/lateral quickness/defensive consistency & awareness sliders to 80-100. Also have CPU shooting sliders at HoF levels at least. If they keep missing, lower CPU shot impact timing until they stop missing so much.

Thanks - I will say that after being prompted for an update the other day, the CPU has played a lot better. The cold stretches are still there, but also more realistic in terms of duration; several minutes compared with 2-plus quarters.

Might also be attributed to me using the Magic in MyNBA.

Just busted this out for the first time since 2k20 (newborn last year kept me off 2k for the first time in decades)… but man - my main impression is how absolutely god awful Brian Anderson sounds. It really makes you appreciate just how good Harlan has been for years because wow. Every time he speaks he’s saying “Ooooh” before it, every time with a different inflection in his voice, yelling one minute and not paying attention because he dives into an irrelevant story the next minute. 2K is the goat for even attempting to do this but IMO don’t run it out until it’s done man

I love that he’s in it but they need to work on it to make it flow better. He’s one of my favorite pbp guys in real life but it doesn’t sound right yet

Game crashes everytime i set up a myleage (start regular season) it starts simming and crashes EVERYTIME ! Anyone else have this issue .

I use X and cannot hit a green release in the game for my life. But I have no problem doing it during practice. It's either too quick or too long and I can never tell which.

Thanks for this ,I've felt that the CPU has been glued on to me ,I'm going to try lowering gather/release .

2k23 i hope they make the shooting sliders strength/release 25 at default

Every player sticking on you like peanut butter to the point you cant jumpshoot unless wide open is not real NBA basketball

Fully agreeing ,not having enough separation is killing what basketball looks and plays like.
It's been a tough year(s) coming to terms with both this and 21 on new gen for me ,often return back to my Xbox one 2k games ,but since lowering strength/gather I'm starting to like this

2k has to ask themselves does Jason Tatum,KD,Bean, ect ..
Can only hit shots when there open🤔

They got the shooting game twisted
Like we have to play like richard Hamilton /Reggie Miller style of play

Either 2k not knowledgeable like we thought they was or too stuck in their ways with my park gameplay

This is especially the case in online play. They expect you to be an expert offensively and break apart the harshest of defensive schemes.

I always felt that the online side of 2k could be amazing if done right.
Don't think I've played since maybe -19 ,had like 20-30 games on 21 ,but first of all I never buy VC ,and I'm too lazy (nowadays ) to grind ,so walking in to the Rec or play Park with a 70 OVR is insanely frustrating.

I bought NBA live 19 ,which is a pretty bad basketball game if you look at it from a NBA side of things ,but the online take on it was great ,you couldn't buy your way up ,you had to play and earn stuff/getting a higher OVR rating.

I mean how many times have you gone online day one of 2k and everyone is a 99 OVR with pink hair doing crazy spin moves/stepbacks?
Kills it for me ,I would love to have a online experience that resembles basketball ,if not for real ,but as close to it as possible ,but that ship sailed a long time ago!

I'm still rooting for an NBA Live comeback strictly due to the much more enjoyable online play. 2K's online play has never compared.

For now about NBA2K23, my biggest expectation from the game is to have cross platform online ability. Fifa gets it NBA 2K should have been way before....

I'd like them back as well ,online yes , competion , yes.
Still ,pretty bad games at the end ,19 was decent.
The old ones are still great (10/11)

Anyone have inside information about a possible return? Doubt it...
