How do your players improve in MyNBA?

Stuff like Individual, Team Training, Player Mentorship, etc… does any of this stuff have an effect on a player’s attributes? I can’t seem to find out how to tell if my players are improving or not. I don't really mind Madden’s xp system where you can manually upgrade your players weekly depending on their performance.

Do improvement to ratings just happen automatically depending on a players performance/ playing time? If so how often?

For example: How would I go about making Isaiah Joe the next Devin Booker?

So I edited my original post to hopefully be more clear in what I was trying to ask. If I wanted to "develop" a certain player on my team, is it simply just giving him more playing time and force feeding him the ball to pad his stats?

This isn't my first time playing myLeague (myNBA)...but it is the first time I intend to play multiple seasons using current rosters. I normally do a myLeague with just the classic teams, but I usually turn off most of the progression features to just focus on playing games.
I'm having a blast with 2k22 this year, and started a franchise with my favorite team to immerse myself in a post-ben simmons era in which I really do intend to play multiple seasons.

I’m playing an all time custom roster too.

I extended peak years to max years available. I kept progression and regression standard BUT lowered regression from 50 to 10.

My goal is to keep players the same every year. Don’t trust 2K’s AI to get it remotely right. It already screws up their tendencies every year which I’ll have to painstakingly fix.

With those settings I simmed a few seasons as practice and it seems player progression/regression barely changes which is what I want.

I wish you can turn ANY progression and regression changes off.

To the OP, you can do training and you can do mentoring to get them progressing in the direction that you would like.

Not sure either mechanic works 100% as intended and both jave had bugs before but this is probably the intended way to develop players outside of game time
