Re: Back to the future what NBA team Era you gonna use in the Time Machine?
Celtics fan -- I'm torn between the 80s and 90s. For the first, I could try to match or even better what those Bird teams achieved, or try to guide the franchise through what was Bird's final year and beyond.
The second one sounds more tempting at this moment just because those years were difficult for the Celtics, so it'd be a unique challenge. Assuming he's in the game, I could also see what could have been with Reggie Lewis.
Regardless, I'm very excited for this feature, and I think it will be a lot of fun to go back in time.Last edited by KPH2293; 08-20-2022, 10:41 AM.Comment

For anybody who wishes to get re-acquainted with 80's basketball, here is a link to a playlist I found on YouTube. Over 700 full games. I have been binge watching since last night. I almost forgot how much they DIDN'T play defense in the early to mid 80's until the Pistons came around lol. Some of those scores were ridiculous...especially any game involving the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs with George Gervin. So, the Magic/Bird ERA should be more free flowing in my opinion.

Might mix up the reality a little, but keep the same player base. No modern day players. Old school only.-----------------------------------------

I'll let the big guys handle rosters and draft classes I'll focus on fictional team creations for those who want a 36-team MYNBA or a fictional league. But I'm going to put a team in Pittsburgh in the 80s and ruin some player's legaciesComment

Yup. I was reading an article from the early 80’s complaining about way too high scores and too relaxed defenses allowing them. Sounded nearly identical to similar articles written today on current ball. Then Pistons changed all that which led to the 90’s. There’s an interview with Pat Riley from the 90’s I just saw where he talks about how how much tougher defense and how much more effort 90’s players put it in than any era before it which resulted in the lower scoring games. Was a good watch. He was saying how in the 80’s they’d have strategies to let certain players shoot as much as they wanted. He said in the 90’s his rule was no easy shots and everything contested.Comment

1983 Indiana Pacers ( When the Rosters are completed)
Pacers had the 2nd pick and choose.....Steve Stipanovich
Not really a bad choice, was considered the 2nd best center in the draft. I thought they would take Clyde Drexler. Drexler went 15th in the draft in 1983.
Pacers had Herb Williams at Center, I did not think that Stipanovich was much of an upgrade. ( Donnie Walsh thought he was top 6 Center in NBA League during his playing career)
Pacers finished LAST the next 4 years
I hoping to change that with Clyde the Glide.Comment

I haven’t decided. Might run with the Kobe era Bucks; and either keep Ray Allen or try to get the rebuild done correctly.
Definitely interested in controlling one of the expansion teams too though.

What features of the mode do you feel like you'd be missing out on? There's very little about Eras that won't be available to PC users (via mods), while at the same time there's a ton of additional historical-accuracy customization you can do on PC that you can't do on console.Comment
