Keeping these guys together.

Honestly one of the best fundamentally sound triple threats in history.

Mullin is one of the best shooters to ever play the game.

Timmy is one of the best ball handlers to ever play the game.

Richmond is one of the most solid and definitely the most underrated 2 guard to play the game.

They had every ingredient offensively together.

Out of the gate no doubt we are using the Lakers in the Lakers/Celtics era. Before I became a rabid lifelong Heat fan in 1987.....I was a Laker Fan. So Magic, Kareem and the boys.....let’s go!!!!!

For the Jordan Era.....No doubt we are going with the Miami Heat. I want to see if I can Riley that team as well as Pat did. That will be a huge challenge as those early 90’s Heat teams were rough around the edges. Can I pull off the trades for Zo and Hardaway as well as Mashburn? Can I get PJ Brown to come to town? So many possibilities.

I can’t wait to find out.

I have not even thought about the Kobe/Shaq era yet. I want to go back to the 80’s and 90’s first. That is my era.

I was watching a game last night from 1987 I believe between the Celtics and Bullets where Bird walked em off with a game winner off one foot. The Wizards had Moses Malone, Bernard King, Jeff Malone, and Darrell Walker at the time...which would have been cool if they all weren't close to 40 lol. When players got old in those days they really looked old. Moses was so skilled though, even as an old vet.

Believe it or not, when I first fell in love with the game as far as wanting to play it, it was Jeff Malone I looked at when he was at Washington. The Bullets were the regional team here in N.C. and I watched them regularly. He had the sweetest jumper and I tried to emulate it in my back yard. I may give them a go as well.

Maybe in the minority maybe not but I’m gonna run with a fictional team (always play with my old high school) from the jump in the magic vs bird era. I’m hoping for more uni options in create a team other than short shorts but I’m not holding my breath. Not a deal breaker by any means but I’d love to have era specific mesh and the like.

As of right now, I'm thinking 80s Celtics with a 22 game season (play every team in the league once). If I'm correct, there were 23 teams in the league for the 83-84 season.

I'd like to shrink the playoff field to just four teams in each conference. I'm hoping that's an option since the WNBA just switched to something similar.

I will admit that I'm wondering if I can live up to what those Bird teams achieved. There is a learning curve with each edition of 2K. Then again, if I struggle the first season, the 84 draft has many studs I could shoot for.

I'm not even going to try to make things go as they did in real life, and instead, I'll embrace the fantasy aspect of things.

I wonder how many years a player could play before they retire. Imagine having a player who is 18 in the Magic/Bird era keep playing well into the modern era into their 50s. Though there were no guys during that period who were drafted straight out of high school.

I also wondered about that. If I decide Larry Bird retires in 95 and not in 92...will this work? At last we still have Player DNA to bring retired players back. But their stats are lost then

I'll just repeat what I said in the Eras blog thread:

I just realized EXACTLY what I'm going to do with this mode.

I'm going to start in 1991-92, sim forward, and take control of the expansion Vancouver Grizzlies.

For those unaware, the Grizz spent only six years in Vancouver, amassing a 101-359 record, or .220 win%.
Adjusting the lockout-shortened 1999 season to the full 82 games, that's an average of 18-64 over six seasons.

My local newspaper started calling them the Grisly. I'm not joking.

To this day, I feel so, so sorry for the people of Van City, as they never got to experience even half-decent NBA basketball before their team was ripped away from them.

So I'm going to see what happens if the team is run COMPETENTLY.

And for any Vancouverites reading this: I do hope you get a team again.
After Seattle gets the Supersonics back, of course.

Im watching old Jordan Carolina highlights and still the same jordan just younger athletic with hair lol

And i know you needed a center but we never saw a tall 6'11 forward that moves like a guard and shoots like a shooting guard man these scouts back then was something else 😂 smh🤦
