Re: Mycareer = RIDICULOUS
I'm genuinely curious about this because believe me I'm all for fighting the good fight to massively decrease microtransactions:
How many 82 game seasons (actually played, not simmed) SHOULD it take to be an actual 99OVR in the communities eyes?
A lot of these comments and criticism would be nullified if 2K would make MyCareer an offline option as well but since we don't have that currently, how long should it take?Last edited by HeatLifer; 09-15-2022, 01:14 PM.Comment

People complain about not being able to compete with others online who pay. Ok, play those people after you work your way up to their level. What's wrong with that? That's life.
I cant beat Ganondorf in Zelda after leaving the great plateau. I could go fight him. Some people do and have beat him. I'm not that skilled so I'll work my way up until I have a chance.
I have been hearing about predatory practices the entire last gen and it's just something I have never understood. I totally understand the sentiment but it's one I just dont get. I know companies are greedy and literally exist to get every dime out or you they can. I dont pretend otherwise. But I control what I spend my time and money on and in. I determine the value proposition. I dont think people who see it as a problem are wrong. I just see it as how everything in this world works anyway so why spaz out over it like gaming is somehow different. Especially after all these years.

Re: Mycareer = RIDICULOUS
It's an RPG, it should take time to build up. In Assassin Creed Origins, you cant just go to Memphis on day 1 at the beginning of the game and expect to be successful. I mean, you can go to Memphis if you like but you will get slaughtered bu the higher ranked enemies. I dont see how this is any different really. You can dominate offline MyCareer on rookie difficulty (while earning VC) if that's your thing. I dominated in 2K16 with Frequency Vibrations as a 55 overall. I played on rookie but I was every bit the star the story made me out to be.

Really, all this would legitimately be solved if 2K simply included matched lobbies. "70-75OVR" / "75-80OVR" etc. Then VC or grind time would at the absolute very least not stop you from playing with others on your players attribute level.
Or include an offline only (although now that means whatever you do offline doesn't translate to online so you have to do it over if you decide to go online with your friends).Last edited by HeatLifer; 09-16-2022, 03:19 PM.Comment

Earlier in this thread it was mentioned that there are times where a user is unable to play their next game until they complete a quest.
In the past we had 3 options:
Grind to be able to compete online, Pay for VC to compete online, ignore the grind and just play our offline careers.
Now it seems like from some impressions they've begun to remove that 3rd option.Comment

I think part of the problem, and maybe we could do better at expressing it, is that the grindy aspects are spilling over and interfering with our ability to just play the offline component of myCareer.

It’s removed. Until they allow me to just play games without actually completing quests, doing interviews, etc… it’s an absolute no brainer that I won’t be playing My Career.
And I can almost guarantee that I’m speaking for a LOT of people.

Re: Mycareer = RIDICULOUS
They have upped the rewards for daily quests you can earn 500 VC each. I'm at 74 ovr already. It's better than the 100 VC they were doing earlier.
These quests and the storyline suck. I'm at the point where they bench you no matter how good you were performing. You gotta get a B teammate grade for 6 games... Who came up with the story this year? It's all around bad and MP is unlikeable just like the people in the city I'd rather have Shep too.Last edited by zello144; 09-17-2022, 12:16 AM.Comment

Re: Mycareer = RIDICULOUS
A whole mode is not as fun as it can be out the gate unless you spend more money ?!?!
thats is a terrible design choice and it will never end because many people just accept it for some reason. its weird
the game is a full priced game. If it was F2P then id understand.
Still having VC be tied to the progress of your character is ridiculous.
Lets use this example in another game. lets say a new COD came out with an option to buy something that lowered your gun recoil, made your player faster and gave players more health. Wouldn't that be ridiculous. Lets say you could play hours and hours ""grinding"" your way up to get those same bonuses. But would it be fun to keep playing while getting destroyed by the ppl that paid?"This game, and series, has nothing but contempt for you (now)"Comment

glad I didn't cop ps5. I'd be throwing it out the window. Like I said they already made 20 do nathan, so I had to put 50. At 50 tho I'm sliding thru and just clowning. Sad that you guys gotta do menial stuff. I'm on some skip cutscene. Funny I dunked that yelo haired dude who was talking before, and it didn't even give me a cutscene. I mean I put like 60 on him and he had like 15. 20-30 rebs lol. Def goin in the wrong direction if that's the case. Money is super ughh, but I draw the line at quests. "It's an RPG..." no... it's not. If it's an RPG is garbage. Make it at least interesting if you are gonna go that route.
More options, more choices, branching story that has to do with ON COURT STUFF. haha. They went away from the 'fitting in on the team' and are like build you brand. riprip.

The thing is, my experience hasn't been that I cant play or enjoy the mode without spending money. I do not spend money in the mode and I play on Pro to see what the story is. I spend most of my time in MyNBA just having fun. The VC builds up. I just checked and I have 48,000 VC right now. That's from MyNBA. I spent the 100K or whatever the preorder was ranking my dude up to an 81, I think. The rest has been all MyNBA with a MC game sprinkled in here and there.
You can call it a terrible design choice. I'm not here to argue one way or another. I will say that I am not here to be the gaming morality police or anything like that. I just want to enjoy myself. If I want to spend my money on something I will. It's as simple as that. I dont care what precedent it sets or anything like that. I got the Last of US for PS5. I think it's an amazing experience. Others see it as a money grab. Thats cool, too. I am not interested in sending messages or anything of the sort. That is not my cross to bear.
True, the game is full priced. It has been since VC appeared in 2K13. Buy it or dont. Get it on sale to offset whatever you think you need to pay. Who says you need the game on release? That's something else I have noticed with the VC argument is that it's always at release. Usually by Christmas it's dead because folks, presumably, have their characters up to where they want or have moved on.
In your COD example, it would depend on how much fun I had. If I had fun playing out the box I really wouldn't care. I'll just enjoy myself and rank up until I can get those perks. If the actual game is fun, whether I win or lose, then its not a "grind" to me. I'm just playing the game. If the OOTB COD experience was bad and my character couldn't do anything and I was getting destroyed, I'd probably just put the game down honestly. I am not "grinding" any game. Having those perks wouldn't make the game good or fun for me personally.

No. I really do not see a problem with it. Not anymore than I do with any other RPG.

Lol, nah man. I can’t agree with this. It’s not an RPG .. lol it’s 2K. People post 2K hooping highlights. Not rapping or skating or dumb stuff. Make an actual RPG game if you want 2K!
I want My Career quests like, “score 20 points in your opening game; Get a triple double; Make an all defensive team in your sophomore year; make your first 3 attempts”. I don’t wanna get in an elevator and kick flip over someone’s head. Lol… this is a basketball game!!! Wtf! Lol
End rant… but seriously just give me a skip all cutscenes option..
For the ones deeper in my career, do the cutscenes stop? The riding around? The quests?
