    Re: Mycareer = RIDICULOUS

Just want to say that the servers on NBA 2K22 "new gen" are still horrible. I had started back playing on XSX and there aren't many players in the parks or Old Gym yet the lag, latency, and frame rate drops are ridiculous. I then tried to play Play Now Online and quit in the second quarter because of the lag, latency, and frame rate drops. It is such a shame. Uninstall complete. AGAIN.

I was watching some live streams of players on 2K23 "new gen" in the parks and I could see their screens flicker and skip due to frame rate issues. I even heard one person's controller inputs and yet his player's moves and animations were delayed.

People are complaining about attribute costs and VC prices. They want to start a movement. Why in the H*LL hasn't someone started a movement about SERVERS, LAG, LATENCY, and FRAME RATE? This is an ongoing issue in 2022 with a triple A title, billion dollar company.

They're walking this scammy line where they try to make MyCareer an RPG-like mode as if it's World of Warcraft or something, but at least games like that don't totally delete your players/make them irrelevant once a year. Those games release expansion packs like once every 3 years or so, and you get to keep all your cosmetics/only have to level up an extra 10 levels vs. starting from 0 again, etc.

TBH, MyCareer is probably the biggest scam across the entire gaming industry right now (not exaggerating), and the ONLY reason it's been allowed to skate by is that most hardcore gamers/gaming journalists don't care about sports games. If this was in any other genre of game there would be f-ing riots.

And no surprises this all started around the same time 2K's CEO Strauss Zelnick joined the company (around 8 years ago) who's performance bonuses are tied almost directly to the amount of microtransactions the game does.

The game shouldn't have to be a job you need to no-life or drop an extra $100 on after already purchasing just to compete on an even playing field...
That's the thing though, if I purchase an online RPG I'm going to get absolutely smashed until I spend a year grinding on it or spend extra money to level up on those too. There's TONS of online games that do the same. Those that don't have obligations are always going to have the advantage in online games with leveling. Elder Scrolls Online (I won't dare jump back on that game after taking time off because I'll be absolutely murdered for taking ANY time off I might as well start over), COD, Battlefield, etc., there's a litany of major games that do the exact same thing.

If I don't buy it day 1 and grind for 100 hours I'm not going to be able to keep up. I won't get the guns, I won't get the armour, I won't get the trebuchet's, I won't be able to fight 1 on 1, nothing. I'll be an absolute liability with little skills and a low health bar getting one-shotted unless I personally take a 2 week vacation to grind death after death or spend $100 to get quick access to level the playing field.

What's the only way to improve without spending you're own money? We all know it, find someone who's a tank lvl100, join their party... do a 3-hour dungeon raid, restart dungeon, restart dungeon, restart dungeon, until eternity. And don't fight lol don't do that because you'll die, just stay CLOOOOSE enough to get the group XP so you can level up by osmosis lol.

Or I jump online to play a shooter I just spent nearly $100 on... and I don't have any guns that do any damage and I don't have any armor and I'm getting slayed for 10 days on 10 hour sessions until I unlock a shotgun which is worthless outside of close-quarter maps lmao

And then guess what.. next year, new release... rinse and repeat.

2K is no different. At least there's different ways I can get VC to level up: Daily spin, Trivia spot in MyCareer, 2kTV trivia, completing side quests, completing quests, playing MyCareer, playing MyEra's, playing MyTeam, Play Now, online franchise leagues, etc.

Most of those other games... nope, just play deathmatch or dungeon dive and die until one day you're actually somewhat not the worst player on your team.

This can all be solved by ANY of these games making you remotely decent to start the online game but they don't.

And even then, 2K could simply do separate tiers: 70-75ovr players in this lobby, 75-80ovr in this lobby, etc. That would squelch SO MANY of the headaches.

Keep Cid out of this but I agree with the rest lol. I put cod down all the time and still come back with basic old guns and slaughter on hardcore tdm running and gunning. Now warzone etc u are more on point lol

I do agree with the greed part. I can’t believe how expensive it is to upgrade your MyPlayer from 60 to just an 85. It doesn’t make any sense. Then they make the MyPlayer builder so complicated and do not really tell you what each attribute really does and etc. They’re banking on you messing up and having to create a whole new player. That’s why they quick to give you that rebirth. Good business but it’s crazy the amount of ways they hustle you. They are way out of hand with VC this year.

If you want to play MyCareer online or even offline on a difficulty you’re used to playing on, you are basically forced to pay to get your overall up. You can’t do anything as a 60. Even at 85, most of your attributes is super low.

From what I've seen of Free agency online I hate that we still don't have the view roster option. Let me see what the **** I'm getting myself into before I sign the contract.

I think the latest patch just bumped your rookie salary up by 150 VC. It used to be 500 VC but now It's saying 650 VC under salary.

Most of the guns you unlock are different and some are better in different ways, but they don't cripple your gameplay on the same level.
Yeah and when I log in to play 2K online there's a boatload of 70's and 80's overall and it takes just a few games to learn the gameplay and I already have enough VC to jump to a 75ovr and game with them lol. We're not going up against 90+'s teams filled with all badges at an exponential rate. There's LOADS of 70's and 80's running games across the various different online modes tied to the MyCareer.

The comparison of "I immediately have to spend $100 or play 100 hours just to 'COMPETE'" is ridiculously overblown.

I'm not defending it, microtransactions are egregious anddo need to be regulated somehow, somewhat, in some way. But if we're going to blow 2K's online experience out of proportion we can do the same with a litany of other online yearly releases as well.

Yeah, man. It's a little tedious. So far once I completed the Palace Intrigue storyline and beat Shep in the Hammond Classic, I haven't received any cut scenes. It took me roughly 30 games in the NBA to get to that point though. Which is kind of whack because I haven't even played Shep in the NBA yet but apparently there's no story for that or anything. Also, nothing about the All-Star game or playoffs or RotY, which I think is super lame.

That touches on my bigger issue with myCareer. There is a distinct lack of content relating to your actual NBA career. The VC thing isn't too big to me normally. I'll buy VC but also since I'm mostly a myLeague/myNBA player my VC tends to stack up playing that.

What turns me off from MC is all the city stuff or story stuff. I think my favorite myCareer was way back when they had real NBA vets record lines and each team had a mentor. It was hit or miss because some players just have no skill at voice acting, but if you had a decent one on your team (I had Channing Frye) it was a pretty good experience. Now though there is way too much of a focus on the non-basketball stuff. I don't want a mode where I'm a social media influencer, rapper, or fashion guru. I just want to be a basketball player. Throw in the online aspect and the whole City thing where our immersion is constantly disrupted by dudes with purple mohawks and looking like little kids whose parents made the mistake of letting them pick their own outfits and I just can't get into it.
