I'm an offline gamer, I'm just trying to hoop. I don't have ample time to play games. I don't have hours in a day, I'm lucky to have hours in a week. So, I don't want to be required to do quests to advance to the next game.

For me, if they can truly streamline MyCareer and get back to basics, I'll return to MyCareer. They can keep the side quests, just not make it a requirement. If it's worthwhile for farming VC, I want to do it on my time.

    I wholeheartedly agree, Will

It's funny because I used to think it was fair to have to grind your character because it made it so that you have to play the game to level your guy even if you bought it, but now I think it's a bit too much. Grinding t3 core badges and getting 99 unlocked is a heck of a grind in a lot of cases. I play a lot of v cpu because even tho I dominate, I can still use my imagination and find a way to have fun. But if you don't play full length games (I try to win at least 1 ring on my guys so I can put on that CHAMPION sweat shirt when I stand around in Rec waiting haha) and geek out on that part, it's gonna take forever to get to 99.

Anyway, the non-basketball related quests, especially that you have to do them OVER AND OVER on each new player really disgust me. It says you get to keep the stuff you earned with rebirth but lool you still have to do the quests?? It's like heh. I really hope 2k figures out a way to make it mostly basketball related. Imagine locking players out of playing games before they can progress. And yeah, I can say some of us who are 'minmax' gamers probably caused that, fouling our dudes out, getting to be a starter + a little more so you can sim thru first year and get a max contract... I'd bet 2k was thinking of that when they made it so tedious, but there has to be a better way. Like they should make it when you obviously foul out that it's like "no no, brother" and make you restart the game haha. That's an easy solution for that.

I find it hard to get into games in my career if it's not the playoffs, though, so I don't want them to take away our ability to sim at all, but I want to way more storylines. It's like... I see shep clowning me on social media but I'm not seeing him much in games? How about showing me shep dominating in highlights? Then if I wanna sim I should have certain 'big games' that I have to stop and play. I mean, there were so many things in old 2k that they abandoned, like those key games that gave you double vc... they have regressed. I think the neighborhood quests should give interesting rewards, especially for people who spend their time in park. People like swag, believe it or not, so tying that to those + some vc for their time would still get dudes doing 'walk quests.' Where as dudes who just wanna be like play game play game play game... should be able to.

Edit: and re: swag I mean tiered lootbox swag, if you give everyone the same reward then it loses value. You should have chances at getting extra rare stuff and there should be a bunch of diff possibilities for each quest you complete so that everyone isn't out there with a hot dog on their head...

I still wanna see stuff like situational coach objectives (with a little less rigidity, cuz coach be like do this, and then he was like NO, but I'm thinking... coach I just went on a personal 16-0 run and brought us back what u mean NO?), getting benched, etc... bball stuff. I think you should be able to get traded, too, or loool in worst case maybe even cut. I mean, that's the RPG part of MC, actually. It's more accessible to have stuff anyone can do like walk around neighborhood, but teach dudes how to ball and then make the RPG part more about IN GAME, like coach says all you do is dunk I need to see some midranges... you know? Not something outside of what your player can do, cuz that would be bogus, but different things to make you have to adjust and break the kind of hypnotism you get in when you are playing massive MC. And there should be difficulty levels with coach, too, like if you are playing on SS or HoF, dude should have harder objectives. I mean, THAT'S JUST HOW I FEEL.

That + letting us respec our guy like I said in my thread... that's all I personally need!

Granted, I didn't play 2k23, so I don't have experience with the core badge system. But, I don't mind the "grind". The grind is what makes offline MyCareer enjoyable. For me, it would be easy just to do a Player-Lock in MyNBA. But I like the structure of progressing your player in MyCareer and the singular focused practices and drills. I don't buy VC. So getting to the point where you're player is starting to play as you envisioned, makes it enjoyable. For me, I start to lose interest once I get done grinding. I think the furthest I got was 95 OvR. I usually grind to the point unlock the ability to influence trades and where I feel my player won't get much better than he already is. Usually that's around 92-93 OVR.

My main issue with the "grind" are that it doesn't feel rewarding for me in the end as an offline player. Once I get to the point where I'm "done" grinding, I want to play just for enjoyment and to play realistically. When you're grinding in offline MC, you're only worried about getting yours and playing to upgrade badges. But once you want to play realistically, you can't because you can't rely on teammates to play like themselves. AI Teammate performance is what turns me off about the mode. I want to be able to rely on teammates to carry their weight and not feel like I need to dominate to win games.

For me, I don't see why they can't have sliders for Offline MyCareer. Obviously, the concern would be that some would play on HOF for the XP bonus and still put sliders to 99 to try and game the system. But, every other sports game career mode allows you to adjust sliders. Just do what RTTS does and dock your XP/VC rewards for adjusting the sliders. I would be more than willing to sacrifice VC and XP, if that meant that I can have teammates performing like themselves.

MyCareer really needs injuries and a Durability attribute. I love in MLB the Show having the chance/risk of an injury at any time. Adds tremendously to the realism/challenge.

Each year I pop into MyCareer and think "Wow, there is even more fluff added to this, how can I get into the actual games quicker?" and after several hours into the mode I just go back to player lock in MyNBA.
