I feel like I can be Luka Jokic in the post this year depending on who I'm playing as. Back a guy down, hit with a pump fake, step back, knock it down, or step through lay in depending on what he's giving me. Or is they send a double team quickly kick it out for a shot or push it back to reset in the post and attack again.

Post-game has me feeling real good
It does. I got blocked a lot yest. Not a ton but more than I should have. Maybe once I get bully right. People can still block from behind but not as well out of your hands, and if you do get one it feels good.

Got dunk stick dunked on for the first time, yikes. Inside movement without the ball, protecting the ball, strength, box out… all is good. Lol our 7’3 guys w 70 vert and 90 str are a bit insane as my players, but dudes wanna put 99 stam. Good for offline but I’ve got 85 and I haven’t seen a Gatorade in rec for years.

With positioning like that, its too bad skill dunks dont work for standing dunks.

Actually to be fair, they do work in so far as they technically can be done, but good luck getting the game to recognize the command and give you the intended result. Even in the practice arena, I have only ever gotten 1 standing skill dunk to trigger after dozens of attempts. It mostly either triggers a fade away, a pump fake into a layup, or a regular non-skill dunk.

When the skill dunk was first introduced, I immediately thought about the "Post Dunk Attempt" and how I would finally have more control over whether I actually dunk the ball or I just go for a layup. The second scenario I thought about was dunking attempts immediately following a successful dropstep. Unfortunately the skill dunk either doesnt work, or is so unreliable that its equal to not working, in both of those situations.

Im just jealous of slashers who can reliably make the choice themselves on whether they are going to try to dunk or not. If skill dunks worked as reliably for standing dunks, as they do for driving dunks, it would get scary in the paint for anyone that isnt a big...

While I never really use the post game in the modern NBA, I find myself exclusively using it in the 90s and 2000s eras

                  Y'all lucky as hell.

I get smothered everytime I dump the ball down low to MJ. Double team comes immediately so I don't even get a chance to set anything up apart from spins to the baseline for some classic reverse MJ jelly layups.

Gonna try out Hakeem soon. See if I can go to work with The Dream.

Do skill dunks actually allow for a dunk? I realize now they are on cg cuz slashers try sooo hard. It’s fun to know, but if u actually do it perfectly will it not whiff? Cuz I mean other than blocks, I’ve made a lot of what seems like good dunks miss by being there. I think someone got me once but I wasn’t in great position. Dunking is v overrated in 2k imo. So many lil extra shots u can do and I know unless people block me, I’m getting the make with a good release.

My worst misses always come when I try to dunk. I still got that ten years ago dunking on my mind. So I am like mashes buttons and it’s a late lay up. If I just lay it up, it’s nearly unstoppable. This year bein shaq is even better than last.

I know this will probably never happen. But man. I wish certain bigs got their real life handle. Something that worked in the mid range like this.

The skill dunks work the same way jumpshots do. If its green its 100% make, unless they block it (which is even harder to do on dunks because it puts the primary defender into a poster animation, so it has to be a secondary defender to block it).

It was obvious to me last year, and its still true, that skill dunks were created and tuned for driving dunks, and not really considered at all for how they would work with standing dunks. When I get into positions where:
-I am right by the rim
-The defender is slightly out of position, giving me a clear angle for the dunk
-I have plenty of stamina and the adrenaline boosts
-I have a 98 standing dunk, HOF Rise Up, and HOF Fast Twitch

But in spite of all that, instead of me being able to decide that I want to challenge the defender with a skill dunk and putting it on me to hit the correct timing, the game will just say "Nah. You only get a layup". I just want the tools to make it a skill issue on my end, or give us a feedback system that explains why the animation didnt happen, so I can make a proper adjustment instead of guesses.

I would be fine with the green window being really small in that example, or even if the defender is able to knock me out of the animation because his defensive ratings and badges might be high enough. But to simply not give me the option, and I have to just leave it up to random chance hoping for the best. And then of course, if I miss the layup or get it blocked because that wasnt the move I wanted in the first place, I have to get chastised by the randoms in the game saying "Bro why didnt you just dunk the ball?". Like, what do they think I was trying to do? You think I fought to get that offensive rebound over the glass cleaner, saw the little bit of spacing for a dunk, but then I decided to only go for the layup with the defender that close to me?
