NBA 2K23 Create Court Bug
Have anyone noticed when creating your own court/arena in either myteam or nba eras with expansion team, that the court has an odd filter on it. The lighting looks way off and players doesn’t look like they render in high quality.Tags: None -
Re: NBA 2K23 Create Court Bug
Yeah it’s a definite bug. It only happens when you alter the arena. If you just alter the court floor then it doesn’t happen. -

Re: NBA 2K23 Create Court Bug
I don’t know exactly what he means but technically you can just edit the floor and not edit the arena ,by doing so you won’t have the moderns baskets and stanchions ,this is what Dainfamous did with his all star game rosters ….modern baskets on retro games just sucks ….Comment

When editing the design they give you an option to edit the entire arena or “floor only.”Comment

Re: NBA 2K23 Create Court Bug
So if we only edit the floor and nothing else we dont end up withthe create defaults ? We keep everything original then ?Comment

Re: NBA 2K23 Create Court Bug
So ridiculous how 2K which is so user friendly in so many ways doesn’t give us an option to revert back to standard arenas to reset if we make a simple mistake.Comment

Re: NBA 2K23 Create Court Bug
Unfortunately it's still there and I even read somehwere else in the forum that the "weird lighting in custom arenas" bug is also there in 2K24...
So, to sum it up, this is a bug that's been driving me nuts for a couple of years now. I always really enjoyed creating custom team designs (arenas, floors and uniforms) but this bugs ruined it for me since 2k23 in PS4. Actually I was hoping it didn't happen on next-gen when I upgraded, but guess what? still there. Not only that, but the jersey/court editor is literally exactly the same since 2K14. I stand corrected, they even REMOVED some elements (like the stripe design for the Orlando Magic uniform).
When it comes to the uniforms, no matter what resolution you import the images in, they look like crap. My bet is that since the editor is exactly the same since the beginning of the PS4 era (when most people played in 1080p) the imported image rendering compresses the hell out of anything you import (even if it a 3000x3000px image like I do) but of course in 1080p you couldn't really tell much of a difference.
The worst however, is the court editor by far. There are 3 HUGE bugs with this that I'm sure are ruinning everybody else's experience as they do mine:
1. The lighting bug. It "activates" when you go into "Edit Arena". The Lighting on players is WAY off. Like they're having a lamp pointed from the side of their faces or something. You can just do the A/B test playing a game with or without editing the arena.
Workaround (ish): If you're editing an existing NBA time, try to keep the arena untouched and just edit the floor. If you're editing custom teams you can try fisrt importing the design from an existing NBA team with an arena that's relatively generic design and edit the logo, uniforms and floor. The Grizzlies for instance, have a court with black/dark grey stanchions and no banners on the rafters. It does however say "FedEX Forum" on top of the jumbotron, but this (and the logo on the rug on the sidelines) are the only sign of Grizzlies existence...
2. The "fog". This is by far the most annoying (to me at least). As soon as you add a jumbotron to the arena it creates this horrible mist or fog that you can see covering the crowd. So bad you can almost see the perfectly straight line when it beings and ends. It's like everybody is smoking pipes in the stadium all of a sudden. Funnily enough this bug does not exist if you're playing mynba during the magic, jordan or kobe eras. It starts in 2010 with the modern era.
Workaround (again, ish): This is caused by jumbotrons. If you don't use a jumbotron the fog is gone. So you have to pick your poison here. Court without a jumbotron with a big empty sad looking space in the ceiling (which will also be aimed at by the cameras if you win the championship) or jumbotron and live with that horrible fog. The irony is that the only jumbotrons that don't cause this effect are 80s and 90s style jumbotrons. Eras in which the bug doesn't happen in the first place...
3. The floor colors. I stand corrected. This one I think it's the most frustrating for creators. When I saw the capability to use RBG colors in creations for the first time I was stoked. I'm a little OCD about colors so I was dying to get the same RGB codes so that uniforms looked the exact same shade as the floors (I know this doesn't even happen in real life, but again, OCD). Then I realized that colors on the floor looked like a handful of tones more washed out than they should be. If you use yellow, now it's like a lime-cream color. Red is pink. Grey is basically white. This I'm guessing is probably caused by the same lighting bug from number 1. Since there seems to be like an excessive amount of light pointing at the floors in general and that's why the colors all seem washed out except for blacks.
Workaround (works, but it's time consuming). Instead of first choosing the images, uploading them and getting the colors from them like I used to do in older 2Ks, what I do now is I manually set the color of the court from the color wheel until it looks like I want it to look, then save those RGB values and then if Im lucky I'll get an image that I can edit in photoshop/illustrator and color it with those RGB values. The result is an image that looks terribly dark on any computer or even in the game itself in your images tab, but looks right on point when imported to the court floor.
We can only hope all three of these bugs will be solved someday but tbh Im not so optimistic about that...Comment

Re: NBA 2K23 Create Court Bug
It’s so frustrating. League expansion is the only mode I really play. Not only has it now been a year having to do those work arounds with court creator. It continues again, it’s beyond me that they are so lazy they didn’t even bother fixing it in NBA 2k24.
Another thing they never fixed is the role playing elements of the league expansion. They weren’t in 23 and it’s the same in 24.Comment

Re: NBA 2K23 Create Court Bug
2k clearly doesn't care about anything but my player modes, people will cry online and they're quick to put a patch out to shut them up the next day, it's some bs, I gave y'all 100 percent of the money for 100 percent of the game, but they never fix the actual NBA portion of the game called NBA 2kComment

Re: NBA 2K23 Create Court Bug
This bug already existed in 2K23, I opened a ticket and they ignored it for the entire year. Apparently it will now be 2 years of ignoring an easy-to-fix bug.Comment
