I'm not very partial to lyrics I can't understand.
I've got a lot of love for the 2K10 soundtrack. Learned a lot of new artists that year that opened me up to new sub-genres I've really come to enjoy. Illinois, MGMT, Ratatat, Miike Snow, Saul Williams, Matisyahu, Donnie Bravo, etc.

I think I've always leaned toward the indie soundtracks because I found them fresh and interesting. It's sort of the same approach I have to GTA radio stations. Love the classics every now and again but it's the unique stuff (unique to me, anyway) that often resonates the most (shout out to Radio Mirror Park).

As it pertains to 2K, I think including classics always sounds good in theory, but I feel they become repetitive and tiresome way too quickly, since you've already heard them so much coming in.

Im 26. I enjoy the modern rap and trap stuff but when you listen to that stuff everyday it gets old. I prefer a lot of the classic hip hop that 2K adds to the soundtrack. I love that they added Juvenile and 400 Degreez

A bit of late 90's early 00's Trance wouldn't go a miss. Or some metal.

Not everyone that likes hoops is into hip hop or rap.
Trance or metal won't fly in 2K, just for the simple fact that those aren't genres that NBA players themselves (for the most part) probably don't listen to. Basketball also isn't a sport where metal or trance are known to be a huge part of.

This years soundtrack was okay, definitely better than last years but it got way better after the recent update adding some nostalgic classics like Hot Boys, Outkast, etc.

I don't mind the modern tracks as long as they are good songs, like the Doja Cat one is pretty good for the game, nice vibe that fits me scrolling through menus and stuff. I'm 32 and usually prefer music from when I was growing up but this is a game that has a younger player base and 2K would be incredibly stupid to not have current music in the game.

I feel like they should have gone further with older songs since they got Eras mode but thankfully the music they did pick doesn't harm the experience for me.

EDIT: Shoutout to "The Zoo" by the Scorpions on 2K18.

Perhaps they should. I mean.....aren't we living in an era that is dominated by the cry for diversity in all things? Just saying.

Back in the 90's, the NBA used to have some banging dance tunes featured in their shows.

Hell, Kobe used to listen to the Halloween theme before games.

Fans and tastes come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Add some flavour to the tracks. Mix them up instead of the standard affairs, year in, year out. Have something for everyone.

35 year old here. I'm certainly not who they cater to, but I guarantee they are hitting their market demographic. I typically snag maybe 2 songs per 2K release to my own playlist - and I'm happy with that.

I was blown AWAY when 2K added Phil Collins in 2K14 lol

If we curated a playlist... I promise you we'd have a litany of complaints from the marquee demographic lol We're the messageboard era on this forum. We're not getting the music we'd prefer.

BUT I agree with the sentiment if we could have some NBa classics on here for the MyEra's... WOOOOO that would be "litty titty".

Yep. Those old school espn albums in the 90s era would be sick! Would love some NBA on NBC theme too!
