To be honest, I'm more shocked you guys weren't expecting this.

It's awesome they gave us this in quick play, but absolutely PAINFUL to play with all the generic roster fillers and shoes etc.

For Roster editors, this will probably be useless unless they allow you to use custom edits.

I was not expecting this but I played a few quick 4 min quarter games yesterday and I enjoyed it. I don't know much about the Bird/Magic Era outside of Lakers and Celtics so it's cool to jump into a quick game just for the variety. I only play with the current NBA teams in play now after a patch to see what has changed. Otherwise, I never touch play now. I'll play a lot more now with this new mode.

I haven’t been able to fully jump into eras so this is right up my alley

I’ve played the 76ers/Bucks matchup like 5 times, lol

        Love the presentation..

I'm with you. It's tough for me to fully dive into franchise modes these days so I appreciate being able to use these teams in quick play, even if the lack of customization diminishes it's potential. Hopefully 2K is able to rectify this with the next update.

With Eras being a big, brand new mode this year I always expected first year flaws, I just hope they continue to build on it going forward with more players, customization options, eras (2010s era would be cool), etc. The way I see it, it's not perfect but it's miles ahead of anything we've had before or have seen in other sports games.

Sorry to ask again, but is this the same roster as default myeras? In 83 play now i think i have different magic and worthy modelo and different positions (like bird as a pf). I swear the gameplay feels different too. I played against iverson and the 76ers played with a lot more “iverson “ plays than when i played in season mode

Maybe i’m the only one in this lol

Definitely feels different. Maybe tendencies? I was getting smoked in the two 83 games I played.

It has nothing to do with what people were expecting. Most of us were expecting exactly what they did. It's about why 2K continues to make it so hard to use custom rosters...taking roster loading out of freeystle a few years ago and now adding eras quickplay without a roster loading option that is there for the normal quickplay makes no sense.

While we've all come to set the expectations bar very low, the point is that we shoudn't have to set our expectations THIS low. It's always 2 steps forward, 1 step back with 2K. This is a simple, basic feature that is available in normal quickplay mode. As others have mentioned, it would be different if they weren't so many gaps with the eras rosters.

Wilt or Bill Russell era would be awesome. I'm enjoying them so far.

I’m curious which roster will be most played?

I’m 39 and I’m all in on Kobe era. Dirk Duncan KG Webber Kobe Shaq Iverson. Man, I wish I could go back.I thought I was one of the older dudes here but some of you playing the older eras.

                        I'm 38 and playing the Larry-Magic era.

The biggest driving force for me behind that decision was being able to live through an era I wasn't old enough to have seen myself the first time around. I love the history of the game and I feel I know a lot about 80's basketball, but there's so much in-between stuff I never really knew about because I wasn't actually there.

Like, sure, I know Isiah, Magic, Larry, MJ, Barkley, English, Skywalker, Spud, Stansbury, Ellis, X-Man, etc. But playing this mode familiarized me with the likes of Joe Barry Carroll, Steve Stepanovich, Mike O'Koren, Otis Birdsong, Lester Conner, Mark Alarie, and so on.

Moreover, starting in the 80's has set up the coolest progression of history I've ever experienced in a sports video game. I'm keeping rosters accurate and as a result, I get to see the league grow and change right in front of my eyes. I can watch Kevin Johnson get drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers only to get shipped to Phoenix in exchange for Larry Nance. I can see Karl Malone and John Stockton slowly turn the Jazz into a force to be reckoned with. The Mavericks loading up with Tarpley and Detlef and Blackman and Uwe Blab.

The crazy thing is that as I head into the 1988 season, I already feel a sort of light nostalgia for the years already gone by in my Era, thinking back to the time when the Kings played in Kansas City and when Kelly Tripucka was my wing star in Detroit. At the same time, there's a part of me that can't wait to get to the 90's, too.

Same. My Magic/Bird era save had me in a Google rabbit hole reading old newspaper articles on these players. So now I am fully familiar with the trials of "Joe Barely Cares", Michael Ray Richardson 'what if he didn't spend his between game days getting high' and the first free agent signing by the Phoenix Suns storylines. I hope next year they go all in on eras by fixing the draft classes to not include so many fake players.

90’s era gets majorly shortchanged cause 2 major players are not in the game, but I feel the if I was building an era specific superleague I’d do 97 or 98 and have a plethora of 80’s to 00’s players I can just make prime and battle each other. Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, AI, Hakeem, Magic, etc. all with dna from their most prime in game year. Seems fun.

I'm 42 and spend most of my time reliving 90's hoops, with my favourite Jordan years being the second 3peat.

1998 is a season I could replay again and again. Quite possibly my favourite season ever.

Same here, man. The Kings/Lakers rivalry made me an NBA fan. Then I discovered KG and Dirk and Timmay. All of them different but dominate in their own way. I have a MyNBA from every Era but I spend 90% of my time playing the Kobe Era one.

The Kobe Era feels like the perfect blend of the old and new. Its not the 80s/90s where slow offense and plodding bigs dominated, but its not the wide open 3 point barrage of today's game. It's also the Era where my idealized version of videogame basketball came from. I think that's why I enjoy the Kobe Era as much as I do. 2K killed it with the Era specific gameplay.
