As an offline player, improved AI. Thats what it boils down to.

In real life Jokic is just on another level with his basketball IQ. But he isn't as much a threat in 2k because that other level just doesn't exist in 2k.

I think he just falls under the category of almost too unique. Jokic is actually a very thin dude but he has terrible body proportions compared to professional athletes. Not much muscle definition, not broad shoulders, not a slim waist, long straight torso instead of tapered with long arms and legs, etc.. like idk how much you’ve seen of him in normal clothes, or even shirtless, but dude is skinny but just straight like a board lol. He’s wide at his hips. Almost like Michael Phelps build but without being lean enough for muscle definition and abs. It’s an awkward build.

Same issue for a guy like Barkley. Who’s only thick in the midsection. He’s not “fat” by any means, has skinny arms, skinny shoulders. Look at that picture of him in that pink tank top carrying that man-purse, dude has a thigh gap and his collar bones sticking out like a scrawny dudes.. Going to be hard to replicate those bodies as they are so unique. You can’t make Charles look thick enough in CAP without giving him Dwight Howard arms.

Not that Jokic doesn’t need some refinement, but I think a lot of the problem really is that 90% of the other players in the game aren’t slim/lanky enough. Body shapes are way off. Dudes torsos are far too long. And even though it sounds odd typing it nobody in the game has an *** [emoji23].

Best bet is to just give us body type options….because y’all would have Jokic out here looking like Michael Sweetney and that ain’t it, lol

You've really got to **** around with the playbooks, to find plays with Jokic as a creator, and the plays themselves run well, and then ensure the AI uses them and not run freelance.

As someone who has liked to use Denver offline the last few years the first thing that is noticeable is that Murray's release is way too slow and jump motion is too long. It just limits his overall jump shot making to being really wide open.

I searched by google for "Jamal Murray jumpshot" and I immediately got a bunch of Jamal Murray jumpshot fix NBA2K23 as the first options that came up so everyone knows this.

You can see an example here if you think this looks alright, but this will help offline but anyone playing play online wouldn't be able to do thi

Now I don't know think that they could do anything to Joker for 2K23 to make him more dominant but I think the user has to start the break with him to open up mismatches in transition and to get centers that can't defend in space out of position.

However in 2K24 if that ProPLAY does add some signature stuff for him I would hope they could find games where he is using special touch volleyball passes that Joker does routinely. It would be like a pick and roll to him and he would be able to just tap the ball to Gordon or MPJ like a volleyball pass before the defense can even react on a double team. So this would be up to the user to see it before it happens like Joker and already be pressing the pass button before it even hits Joker hands.

I've said for years that CHEMISTRY should be the single most important stat regarding our AI TEAMMATES playing well/avoiding mistakes and the user winning the 50/50 instances. It should be the X-Factor that avoids silly loose ball fouls, contact and blocking fouls, defensive breakdowns and gifts them long pass awareness. And on the other side it should be the game mechanic that increases the teams chances for important plays like offensive rebounds, quick rotations, Deflections out of Bounds, the Contain animation we dont see enough--and even converting a higher number of open shots.

Bad chemistry should result in things like mishandled passes and off-target passes/silly fouls ect. There are tons of subtle/non-cheesy ways to make teams better with Chemistry, 2K just has to implement them.

P.S. If deflections out of bounds was the important mechanic that eliminated most of the bad/forced passes into paint ect THAT IT SHOULD BE, the ability to get the ball into tight windows (Jokic) likely becomes the most important ability in the game.

"Moral of the story, good defenders with decent 3s are FAR more important than bad defenders with spectacular offense."

Yes, though there are still a lot of people who think dropping 20+ points on the regular is all that matters. The league has moved far beyond that. Scoring 20 points does not mean what it used to.

Oh my god, looked up that Barkley pic and it’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.

I met Dennis Rodman recently and aside from his having I think the best aesthetic physique in NBA history, even at his age now after all the hard partying etc. he looks crazy athletic amongst regular people. Even aside from height.

I worked a lot on Joker’s playmaking and IQ. It helped a LOT. I adjust Murray’s release speed and it made them dangerous as hell. It’s one of my favorite matchups in Myleague/Era’s.

They torched my team every time, just based on pretty mild adjustments. It’s one of the most fun match ups now.

It doesn’t feel like rubberbanding AI, or cheese. They play off of each other, move the ball (A LOT), and it really feels like an even fight from start to finish.
