Has anyone else noticed you’re getting caught in jog animations post patch?

I noticed this prior to the patch, but I don’t remember it being like that when the game first dropped.

Anyone see issues with the "blowout" or push ahead dribble? (Double tap turbo)

I watch the cpu do it against me and cover nice ground. Just gliding up the court.

I try it and I'm no faster than if I just
        Use regular turbo.

I get a weird jog or full on slow down animation about 80% of the time after a speed burst or use of turbo.

          It's maddening.

That said - I'm also getting some crazy fast speed bursts coming off a screen in the half court. I used Ja last night, had a double drag above the 3 point line and around halfway through I tapped turbo and ended up going as fast as I've ever seen in a 2K game, and my game speed is lowered to 45 with speed adjustments.

I wonder if the 2k developers are watching this DEN-LAL game so they can see how common fast breaks are run in the NBA and that players don’t get magically halted in the middle of their running.

I don't play the CPU like that. But I use it a lot with fast break type of PG. It's not double tap. It's tap once. You can even do it in the half court.

Roster makers should raise the crash tendencies on a bunch of players. Creates lots of 5 v 4s.

Re: Any word on Fast Breaks in 2K24?

Fast breaks have been realllll rough for me. I can technically score in transition at times but rarely does it feel like I'm running a real life fast break. I just don't see enough lanes or options when I get into the open floor. Defenders are almost always back, engaged, and locked in.

In addition, ballhandlers have almost no downhill advantage in the open floor in 2K right now. The game just doesn't seem to have the ability account for implementing any semblance of blow-by without it becoming overpowered. But the trade-off is clunkiness and a lack of open floor freedom.

They were pretty awesome when the game first released for a while. There was even a cut scene cam. It was really fun to have actual NBA fast breaks. I'm not sure why they were removed but we at least know they exist. Hopefully they will be reintroduced in the future.

Re: Any word on Fast Breaks in 2K24?

Fast breaks are HEAVILY player dependent.
In my Kobe era Wizards Dwight Howard is a fast break monster. He usually gets 6 fast break points on his own just because he is so fast. When I sub him out and have Aldridge and Birdman as my bigs, we don't get too many fast breaks unless Hughes gets a backcourt swipe.

I have noticed one downside to the new "tap to get a dribble ahead burst" and that is that 2k has made it almost mandatory for the fast break. If you get the ball and immediately do regular turbo you get slowed down/don't get going as fast which allows the defense to kill the break.

I’m using 80s Lakers and that prob helps but I can fast break. But it’s weird, it’s not a straight break. I sort of have to force it and set it up properly.

Yeah, I bet if I looked at my fast break points after most games, I'd probably have a solid amount at times. But most of those points don't come from a realistically varied means of open floor play.

For instance, one of my more successful fast break strategies is to icon lead pass to a teammate who's being blanketed by a defender, because my teammates are almost always being blanketed by defenders in transition. It often works in 2K because it's 2K but in real life it'd usually be a pass much too risky to make since I'm basically slinging it through a defender.

What I often don't get is teammates filling clean or partially clean lanes to the rim. Like, it can technically happen, but nine times out of ten, my teammates are usually already coated by defenders by then or they're flaring away from the hoop instead (or both). Not to mention, the leading ball-handler often doesn't feel like enough of a threat in those downhill transition opportunities, as whichever lead defender picks them up is often coated in too much glue to be taken advantage of.

I'll often note that finding a smooth pace in open floor opportunities can be tough. I try to time things to allow my wings to hit their lanes but often it seems like there's just two speeds for ball-handlers: sprint or walk.

The only way I can consistently get fastbreaks is playing Eras mode or Eras quick play. Especially the Kobe or Lebron era. But I get it in the Jordan and Magic eras as well. Hell the whole game just plays better all around in the Eras. I can grab a rebound and just outlet pass it to a streaking player. Also noticed ankle breakers, blow bys and mismatches happen more often in the Eras as well. Where as in modern NBA, you have everybody playing like prime Gary Payton who lock everybody down on the perimeter and in transition everybody catches up to you from behind like prime Lebron.

Got to the point now, Eras is the only mode I play. Modern NBA got patched to death and don't play nothing like Eras. Eras is more free flowing. The AI decision making is better and quicker. Add to that fastbreaks happen on a regular basis in that mode, yeah I am sticking with Eras. Playing Eras feel like you playing against a human with the stuff the AI be doing.

With the way you can force full court bomb passes through several defenders, if anything it's too easy to run the break. Add in the way defenders just jog back even with run in transition selected and you can run a break even after made shots, consistently.
