Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
Really hoping for this as well. Conceivably they could collect animation data from hours and hours of classic NBA footage. How amazing would it be to have Jordan move exactly like real life or Kareem's actual sky hook?Comment

Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
Guess I'll be the party pooper but I want to see the other 8 players on the court. The 1v1 animations look great but I want the whole shabang. It's a good start with this tech though. Only a matter of time before 2k eventually gets all 10 players moving more realistically.Comment

Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
I love the concept of this, but I’m still skeptical about how its implemented. It looks like a canned animation, the way the defender is moving and switching stances on the KD and Steph ProPlay clips.
Would be nice to see these plays happening on screen and actual gameplay. How free are we to branch out of these animations? What happens if I try this KD move but instead decide to cross over one more time and drive, or cross the other way and shoot ? How will these animations blend together?
Because what they showed is basically a Canned animation of something going on exactly how the real life clip. In videogames that’s now how stuff play outComment

This looks amazing.
Down to the detail of players inbounding the ball differently is crazy, lol
Zero concern about those moves and animations being canned. They’ve moved away from that a long time ago. There really aren’t a lot of canned animations in the game period anymore.

Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
Alright i'm hyped and ready to be disappointed again by the time patch 1 rolls out.
I like that shot contesting is being reworked. Hopefully it's a little more engaging than simply holding right stick up to completely shut down the CPU. I'm hoping that the changes made to shot blocking/fouling also works for shot contesting. A poorly positioned or timed shot contest should also result in a poor contest or a foul. This would really make playing defense fun and challenging. I really loved '23 but what kills it for me as an offline player is how easy it is to defend the CPU.Comment

Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
The gameplay Courtside Reports are always the ones I take with the least grains of salt, because a lot of the finer-detailed changes are the sorts of things we get jerked around on from patch to patch all year anyway. Honest-to-God concrete features (as opposed to 'we made this easier; we made that harder') are what you can hang your hat on, and like everyone else I'm happy to hear that they're addressing substitutions. My biggest peeve with substitutions in the past has actually not been the mass-subbing of players, but rather the way the CPU doesn't recognize the end of the 2nd quarter as 'crunch time' when the starters should be playing (or at least that's how it was for a long time; has it been fixed already on new gen?).
I think ProPLAY looks good, though it strikes me as more of a cosmetic feature than something tied into the gameplay mechanics.Comment

ProPlay Durant looks good. Surprised to not see any footage of ProPlay Luka. Show me that with all his slippery dribbling, footwork, and shot and then we can really start talking about game changing tech…Comment

Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
After seeing this, I genuinely think people are over thinking this. I'm willing to bet they implemented this in a very small way for 2k23 which is why they had so many accurate sig styles that improved shooting last year.
If you brought the ball up with Magic he turned his back to the defender, Jordan had the loose sway, Jokic had his weird one legged turnarounds, Rodman had sig animations waiting for you to shoot your free throws and celebrating, Steph and Luka's stepbacks were accurate, smooth, and lethal.
My guess is they probably got to a level of full implementation that they wanted which is why it's being advertised now. Mike Wang mentioned on Twitter about the signature motions for running and walking they had only like 37 in 2k23 but over 150 in 2k24. This feels like a way more comprehensive adaptation of something that's already there.Comment

That definitely caught my eye as well. Being mostly a Coach Mode/Spectator/GM guy, if this is what live action looks like on the court...that's gaming heaven."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Eh, I've already figured out what one of the main exploits will be. I'll let others figure it out the hard way.Comment
