Lebron Era should be called Warriors Era. He thought it was going to be his but the Warriors took it from him lol.

Newspapers for the 80s is cool.

I don’t see enough in MyNBA for a day one purchase, maybe when it goes on sale. Still enjoying my 80s Era in 23.

Glad they filled in the gap with a Lebron era. If I had to choose one more void that could be added, it would be a mid- late 90s era. Would be nice to start in 1996 or 1997 & get the full authenticity of the cartoon logo/ uniform era.

Who knows, maybe one day we'll be able to start from any year from 1950- present.

I think also ppl have to realize that adjusting the draft classes is one thing, but talking about it is another.

If you all are upset about those names, what do you think about Giannis and Wemby? You prolly would of thought Giannis is "unrealistic" as well but look at the times.

We def live in a different world, so I can understand where ppl come from but you think they are going to say "There shouldn't be a Rob Jones from Russia" when Kobe Bryant lived in Italy most of his life before going to PA for school? Dennis Schroeder is German but isn't.. what most look like?

You also have the great way of editing it to what you like, so if Sergei from Russia that's black doesn't fit your view, you can always edit that.

I always view that as being inclusive of what is going on in the world, even though sometimes I do think they may take it to the extreme.

Herbert Smith from China could be an expat, lol

My only issue with the “LeBron era” starting in 2011 is all the other “era” modes are set up to start with drafting the next big prospect. Jordan draft, Shaq draft, LeBron draft.. nothing special about tanking a franchise for the Kyrie Irving draft…

Also lots of guys need updated younger models. Pau for example, Dwight with no tattoos for Orlando, plenty more. But LeBron with his own era but not even an accurate player model for that point in his career is super whack.

lol touche. My come back is that if you generate 100 draft classes in 2k you'll notice that the percentage of Chinese players with American names is near 90%. That's clearly too high.

I said earlier in this thread that they should let us choose any year, even if there’s no official roster for it, but that said, particularly if 2K is committed to providing at least one anchor-point roster per decade, I would be surprised if they go much earlier than they have. There’s a certain aura to the Russell/Wilt rivalry, but outside of that the pre-Magic/Bird period is just not so sexy from a modern, casual perspective. A lot of us would enjoy those earlier eras, but they would have significantly less crossover appeal to casual NBA fans. Not to mention it’d arguably be even harder work to create those earlier eras, since far fewer players from those eras have existing cyberfaces. Just seems like a lot of work for very little potential payoff.

Can 2k at least update the list of names available for generated players? There’s a lot of last names like Barry Carroll and Morris Sr. that I see every draft class. Lots of first names seem straight out of the 50s and 60s, there’s not a lot of players named Homer, Bert, Sylvester, or Claude anymore. Players from England only have two names it seems: Reginald or Archibald. There’s a 50% chance an Australian will be named Boomer for some reason.

Maybe 2k limits the names so we don’t have guys named Magic Olajuwon or World B. Nowitzki showing up in draft classes.

To add on to this, one of the things that makes the Eras mode work is the yearly draft classes. And sure, the default classes do not currently include all the important players each year, but they do include enough to make things work, especially once editors fill in the blanks.

If 2K ever wanted to start an Era in, say, 1956 (Russell rookie year), they'd theoretically need to piece together draft classes for every year from 1956 through 1984 (until they run into the the Magic era). And to add onto that, even if they somehow skirted around the draft class issue by just accepting they won't be super accurate, there'd still be the issue of not only creating the art for the players who actually played in 1957, but also trying to secure their rights, which would likely prove increasingly difficult when accounting for how many have since passed away.

On the plus side, there were only eight NBA teams around in '57, so it'd theoretically be a slightly more manageable task than some other eras. Plus it'd be kinda fun if 2K really leaned into it and created an authentic '50 playing experience.

I'd say they could even run a capped era if that helped (where you can only run a few years due to logistics) but I know that'd just be asking for complaints.

…or at least if names like this pop up, the player’s appearance should be a morph of those two players’ appearances (/s)

Trying to imagine World B Nowitzki…

The historical draft classes in 2k already start at 1960.. they would need to add a lot more players (1960 for example only has Oscar, Jerry, Tom Sanders, and Lenny Wilkens).

Not sure how many years are skipped along the way.. but at least somewhat of a foundation is set. Starting at 1960 wouldn’t be a bad compromise for not going all the way back to 56.. Hell I’d be on board with it starting at like the NBA/ABA merger even.

Yeah honestly, I simultaneously acknowledge the complications of creating an older era while at the same time thinking it'd be an amazing addition. I don't know how popular it'd be among 2K gamers, just because it's so niche, so I understand why 2K wouldn't even consider going there. But man, how cool that could be...
