I do think that this is the last cross gen year for most games. We're at the point where last gen cross gen games are getting roster and quality of life upgrades. And with the consoles more easily available, less need to hold on to last gen.

Fast Feet – It wouldn’t be a fair game if only offensive players received speed boosts. Fast Feet can be looked at as a “quick first step” badge for defenders, allowing defensive specialists to stay in front of shifty ball-handlers.
Right Stick Ripper – Those who utilize the right-stick steal mechanic will receive a boost on steal attempts with Right Stick Ripper.
Immovable Enforcer – A direct counter to Bulldozer, Immovable Enforcer allows defenders to win physical matchups when it comes to body-ups and contact layups.
94 Feet – Players with 94 Feet receive fewer body-up stamina hits and improved body-up wins when pressing full court. Don’t worry, those who do not have this badge will regret pressing full court.
Defense should be fun this year!

I like that they buff the post and middies
Now you can score all over the court Instead of just booming 3's and dunks all game
            Balance across the board
            With defense!
Let's just hope the game translate into that

Apparently there is badge REGRESSION now. That sounds like a horrible idea.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of having to force something in order to maintain a badge. As long as it isn't a fluctuating badge system like how 95-99 OVR use to be

"Open Looks" I'm not surprised, but open shots in 2k are already at pretty high percentages even for average shooters

"Blow-By" Good, because blow-bys are a core part of the NBA

Edit: Speaking as an offline player, it's interesting about differing perspectives on defense. It seems clear that in recent years they've hamstrung explosive offensive players by having weird dribble hitches which are most noticeable on fast breaks. That is because of online play influencing game design. In 2K23, I see mediocre defenders able to put up strong contests with ease -- again likely due to online complaints. I see remnants of wildly unrealistic 2K17 stonewall/physic perimeter defense.

It just seems more obvious that 2K can never get particularly close to the real games, because 2k players don't want that experience (whether those players actually watch the real games is a separate thing entirely)

Float Game – A player’s ability to make floaters and runners while attacking the basket is improved with Float Game.
Likely re-worked Tear Dropper, which was on hiatus for 2K23.

Scooper – Quick scoop layup shot chances are improved with the new Scooper badge.
Bunny – Hop step layups and dunks receive an increased shot chance with Bunny.
Spin Cycle – Drives finished with a spin layup or dunk will receive an increased shot chance ability thanks to Spin Cycle.
Two Step – Cradle and Euro step layups and dunks receive a shot boost with Two Step.
Precision Dunker – Those who utilize the skill dunk mechanic will receive an improved chance of flushing their dunk attempt with Precision Dunker.
I think a few of these badges have existed in prior seasons under different names.

Hook Specialist – No love lost for post-play aficionados. Brought back from the dead, Hook Specialist increases a player’s ability to make hook shots out of the post.
Post-Fade Phenom – Similar to Hook Specialist, Post-Fade Phenom will allow a player to make post-fades and hop shots out of the post at a higher clip.
These were likewise on a 2K23 hiatus.

Open Looks – As a way to encourage sudden opportunities, Open Looks will enhance a player’s ability to make wide-open jumpers.
Spot Finder – By utilizing the “Get Open” mechanic (R2 or Right Trigger Tap), Spot Finder allows players to receive a speed boost off-the-ball to get to an open space, with a raised chance of knocking down the shot off the ensuing catch.
Sounds like Claymore, but they are tying a gameplay mechanic to it.

Whistle – Creating contact and getting to the free throw line when attacking the rim or shooting a jump shot is improved with the new Whistle badge.
                    Fearless Finisher for shooting.

Free Points – In clutch moments, knocking down free throws with the game on the line is improved with Free Points.
Previously Ice in Veiins, which was on hiatus. Also technically replacing Clutch Shooter.

Bulldozer – A mix of a scoring and a ball-handling badge, think of this as Bully version 2.0 with elements of the old Clamp Breaker. Bulldozer improves the player’s ability to push through physical body-ups and finish with physicality around the rim.
As they say, they're just merging two badges together, which makes sense based on how they doled them out in the first place.

I am all about this. Fouls regulate alot of the bs problems in previous 2k games. There was old NBA game back in the day that had a working draw foul rating (cant remember the name. Maybe NBA action). Moses Malone played with the spurs and was a monster off the bench cause he always got to the line.

The ability to draw fouls is key in real life. Hopefully, it applies this year in 2k.

That seems cool to get signature animations if you don't customize a player template. For example, choosing Steph Curry or Kobe template and getting their signature template off rip

I rather all the templates be available off the rip. It would suck to choose a player template because it is the best equivalent, but then a couple seasons later, the exact player template becomes available

I wouldn't want the Player Templates to be a "Poor Man's" version of a NBA player. That almost defeats the purpose of it.

I get competitive balance for Online, but for someone who doesn't play online, I don't want the same type of restrictions. I'm not trying to create a Wemby build or a Giannis with Curry's three ability build. I just want to create my preferred build without feeling like I have to completely neglect certain ratings
This would help when you're trying to make unknown less popular players. When I make my builds I always want everything to be 100% accurate to an NBA player.

I think MLB the show was the first to do this. If this works well this is a great addition to 2K. I hate that they will release some by seasons which sucks. All of them should be available from day 1.

As is the case with any badge that gets taken out for a year - it wasn't working as intended and was tuned.

I'm not a gameplay specialist anymore and couldn't tell you what issues players had w/ the badge (and Fade Ace) back in 22. I recall one of those being overpowered or something.

I'm curious to see the player templates next week in the early videos. Is it an exact replica of the NBA player's build or a poor man's version? If those templates are exact replica, then they might less restrictive than making standard builds. But that also brings up another question. If you use a NBA player template, is that template the cap of what your player can be. I can get it if you're using a NBA superstar and you can't exceed their template. That would be like choosing a Steph Curry template and exceeding that to also have a great defense on top of that, which would be OP. But, what if you're using a non-superstar template, I wouldn't want to be capped at that. There needs to be a balance of not being able to exceed superstars, but not being capped at a role player.

It should be available day one. As someone who only wants to make one build, I want to be sure of the player template I'm building my player with. Least I have an idea of what player I want to use. But, if a better build comes later, then it would very upsetting. I would be happy with a Draymond Green template. But, if a Hall of Famer template would come later, I rather have the HOF. I would wait on Olajuwon, Kevin Garnett, Pippen. I would even want a Prime Klay Thompson player template.
