Man, this thread is amazing. I've watched a lot of great moves here. Can't wait to practice them once I get my controller back.

Btw, that post hook by Robinson is one of the cleanest moves I've seen in any 2k.

Thanks!! I really want to get down the shimmy hook. After trying it yesterday. I feel like I need a lot more practice in the area. I didn't know why it's so easy for me to do it with fade away. But I have such a hard time doing it with the hook.

Hahaha I was literally trying this after the game. It's pretty tough to pull off the way he did it. But it's definitely possible. I think the level of body contact is why.

I might have shown this earlier. But when a defender is pointing in the opposite direction. ESPECIALLY when they are trying to recover back to your body (See that Duncan vs Z-Bo example). You can hit them with a hop step that will throw them off balance. That's why I've really love running post up plays. Especially with that flex screens

It creates a ton of space. So your defender is human is going to try and eat that space up. I tried covering all the different outcomes. But it's a nice little more.

It creates a ton of space. So your defender is human is going to try and eat that space up. I tried covering all the different outcomes. But it's a nice little more.

I used to a lot of the jump faders out of the post, this tactic I don't use as much because I find the consistency to be lacking sometimes.

Wait are you talking about the Hop Step out of post up or Just normal fade from a back down.

Here is my take. I've noticed yes fades are probably the most effective post up shot (I think hook shots are just as good). But I think mixing it up is probably the best way to destroy a defender. You can just read a defender. Instead of this pre programmed fade.

I think this "jump out" animation is more for perimeter players. A player not looking to bang down low (especially if they don't have the badges). Once you jump out there. They can just read the defender. He comes out=drive. He doesn't=Shoot easy mid. That's kind of how I see it. I wouldn't recommend a player like Shaq to use this. But even a player like Zion could create space with his dribble and get an angle and score

Yes, exactly why I've stopped doing certain ones. To be fair, there was another version of this in old games I'm sure had to be a travel where you catch the ball in the post (don't use your dribble) and then do the hop step fade haha. I think there would be a gather dribble thrown in but it was silly the amount of space you could create basically doing a stepback hop step out to the 3-point line from the nail, not that it was an easy shot to time.
