Re: NBA 2K24 Community Triple Threat/Face Up/Post Up Thread

Been working on little post moves to get to the rim. They are so tiny.
This is me using the switch hands to eat space or get an angle on the defender. By attacking the front foot. I know it's so hard to see.

This is a switch hand and attacking that front shoulder/foot (2K did an amazing job here. That's how it works in real life)

This is me using the same thing to get closer to the rim without using too much back down or drop stepping

If you check out the shading meter/system of a defender. You notice all these little things. Also happen down low in the post. Kevin did a great video about it last year.

So I think I've just figured out a new control. I want to thank Chase for bring up the hop shot up the other day without him. I would not have discovered this. Or maybe I completely missed the memo that the right stick controls all post moves now? I remember in years past. You could do the drop step with the right stick. I just figured out you can do every move from the right stick.

          Can you notice here?

The differences are so subtle. Especially the fakes. I spent some time practicing and that was the first game (above). On that hop shot with Duncan. You'll notice a tiny little fake before I hop. The problem I've always had was hop shot was using the buttons. It's why I only drop step when I'm desperate. But now.....

You've been able to do it both ways for at least a couple years now I think? But yeah at one point it made more sense to do certain things on buttons because you'd get more consistent animations. I think I just went down the rabbit hole before you years back since I was deep in my Dirk bag at some point.

I agree with what your saying. Definitely more consistent with the button. Just more out comes with the stick. But I get it. You don't want the wrong animation to be triggered at the wrong time.

Sorry I've been posting like crazy on the post game [emoji23].

I'm getting some insane combos right now. How is no one else using this?

Ok so after thinking about what you said yesterday. The controls aren't that bad. It's literally like dribbling in this game. Being able to mix pump fakes, shimmy, stutter steps, drop steps and hop shots all together. There is just too much for me to go back to the button.

In that video I posted above vs the Hawks. There is a shot where I turn to the defender (a mistake by me reading the defender). With no dribble. Usually I'd be stuck if that was a failed drop step. But I was able to fade away with a nice bank shot.

I guess what I'm saying is we shouldn't dump down for one button. But just like dribbling it's a small learning curve. Worth the out come. I've been able to pull off some very cool combination.

This is a pump fake, stutter step, fend off, hook shoot.

I could never do that with the button. The reaction time to switch to the stick from the button. Because Horry goes for the pump fake. It just creates this lag. But I don't think the learning curve is that bad.

My bad if I was unclear, I'm saying it USED to be that the button had to be used to sort of make some animations come out you couldn't just use the stick, but 1-2 years ago I went to just using the stick basically only once I realized they had refined it enough to make it consistent.

So yeah, I was agreeing. It's kind of like how it was with pump faking to then jump into the defender for a foul, you could do it both ways but it was a little more consistent with one method vs. the other for a long time.

Ahhhhh I see. My bad too. I was like what is Chase talking about. The stick sounds awesome lol. The one thing I found from using the RS stick. It works really well with "body up" animations. You can definitely make a defender pay for trying to make contact. That's probably the coolest thing I've found in the last year days.

Anyway, So I've been playing around with the hand switch in the post. This is a very cool mechanic.
@jeebs9: Switch Dribble Hand (in post up) is a fake, direction change and cut off. I'll explore that in this thread. #NBA2k24 #2knodribble Here I use it as a fake and go right into a hook. With...

Drop Switch is a very nice change up. I haven't even deeply played around with it yet.

The animations for defenders are so cool. Watch his head snap back after the drop step. It's awesome they did all that. https://youtube.com/shorts/zrR7EYgo4...uHhS42SVQsxK0e

(Or it's the same (mirror) animation as the spin away in during the first part of the first.

Posted about cutting a defender in half with these moves and a few things you can do with the right stick. I find it odd that we just fell into this button thing. But also no word from 2K about all these things.

@jeebs9: One of the things I like to do is cut my defender in half. We kind of do the same thing dribbling the ball on the perimeter. But in the post your super close. (Thread) I...
