Yes the cpu get wide open threes bc my teammates navigate screens pin downs etc like they are 5th graders. How can we counteract this Rob?

I never knew you could call for switches on defense by holding the A button.

So what I do on pin downs now is switch to the hedge defender on the pin down or whoever is closer to the shooter and hold the A button.

Then the man who is getting picked will switch to the screen setter.

That one adjustment has allowed me to prevent about 8 to 10 threes a game. Makes playing defense much more fun.

Oh my god how did I not know this... been playing since the original 2K and never knew this was a thing. Excited to see how much this changes my defense. Double checked and it's not even in the controls or tutorial. I've always just tried to force switches my super aggressively crowding the person I want to switch on to, which is really hit or miss.

Such a fundamental control should be front and center in the tutorial and controls. I'd even prefer to see it have a dedicated button. Maybe something that feels more natural like a tap of LB causing a switch and a hold of it causing a double team.

Still doesn't solve the problem, that the cpu can't defend pin downs properly. Open shot for the user everytime. Or is there a setting in the defensive instructions that could change that?

so using switch as defensive setting doesnt work, too? why? can you describe the problem you are facing? what is happening? does the switch happen too late? don't they switch at all?

Man, the easiest thing for this is you have to study the game and you have to know when screens are coming. Actually the CPU does well here and I’m going to tell you why. Sometimes when I try to cheat the screen, they will fake and go back door. That’s good basketball.

The cpu cheeses off ball actions, and the defense on off ball is terrible. Especially the defenders with off ball defensive badges.

The glas half full argument is that it you have to play all 5 players, as opposed to just 100 percent on ball defense. There should be more to good defense than just guarding the ball handler. So, even though I get mad with the off ball scoring, it definetly makes watch all 5 players.

I think if they made passing more realistic, and slowed down the catch and shoot speeds for non catch and shoot players this would help.

Secondly, the pass/catch animation system gives the shooters an extra boost by either speeding them up or warping them open by allowing them to teleport to open space.

I guess the first can be somewhat addressed with badges but there is little that can be done about passes and the receiver of the pass being tethered to a location

Man, I just had a really good game against the Heat. Back-and-forth, I was up double digits twice and it got close, but you must use all five people. I did see some rotations, but I funneled Butler as best as I could. Game played really well after I just got over the fact of expecting the computer to help me all the time, but when I made some computer tweaks, they were better at rotating and the threes were to stop penetration.

I meant the cpu as an opponent, when i am on offense. I can use pin downs and to a lesser extent pick-and-rolls to get easy open shots.

Would be nice if the cpu could defend the human player better and more realistically. CPU defense is just not smart enough. Way to go in the AI department imho.

Response was that it was handed over to the dev team and the devs even sent a response to me:
They saw in my video, that I was using the on-the-fly-coaching menu and this might be causing the problems. so for now until it is fixed, we should restrain from using the on-the-fly-coaching...

I've been thinking an interesting approach regarding this would be to revamp passing altogether. The lead passing options has been in the game forever, but it's always been a little overpowered imo. It just works too well and makes it where the passer and receiver are almost TOO in sync.

A reimagining of the passing would be a major change, but imagine if we actually had to aim our passes. Or if I try to lead pass to someone who is running in the opposite direction I'm trying to lead them in, maybe that causes a pass to go out of bounds (similar to like a miscommunication in real basketball).

This would help the issue we've basically always had with having an unrealistically low amount of turnovers in the games. It can mitigated a bit with sliders, but still never feels quite right imo.
