Pick & Roll Spacing - How to get my PF out of the dunker?

Playing in an online MyLeague. Whether I call for a mid, side or step up pick and roll, whoever is at my PF slot just sits in the opposite dunker. I have excellent 3pt shooting wings at my 3 and 4 and would love for them to just spot up in the corners and wing when I call for a screen from my 5 man.

Does anyone know how to manipulate my teammates into better spacing overall? Gameplan, playbook, whatever it is. I can't seem to figure it out and I am a huge stickler for spacing.

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: It also seems like a ton of plays are being automatically run despite me turning every auto coaching setting off (or so I thought). This isn't what I was referring to up above, but it's also impacting my spacing greatly.

I don't have a solution on-hand because it sounds in part like maybe you're in the wrong sort of base freelance offense for your personnel. There are different base ways a team will setup depending on the style you play.

On top of that, the auto-running of plays, is it freestyle plays or like playbook plays?
I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.

instead of calling a quick pick and roll you could look for different pick and roll plays with good spacing and add them to your playbook.
also selecting a differenct freelance offense could do the trick,.

If you don't want to go thru the trouble of scouring playbooks, you could try a quick isolation/pick and roll combo.

Call isos from different parts of the floor and see where your players go, then find the best spot to arrive at your desired PnR spacing

I'm not too familiar with the freelance offense mechanics in this game. That looks like something I can only change while in a game, correct? I just tried changing my freelance #1 to 4 out 1 in. Played a game, no luck. Any time I call for a screen from my center, my PF dives to the dunker.

The auto-running plays seems like freelance, but I suppose it could be playbook plays. They call something after each timeout/start of each quarter, and will start running flares/splits when I post up without calling anything.

Solid, definitely a workaround. I made my own playbook with a few P/R plays and they maintained that nice spacing. A bit tedious as I now have to pause the game and assign my plays every time I play a game, but it works nontheless.

This sounds good, but whenever I call for a screen, my PF dives to the dunker automatically.

I'll answer this part because I think its the best method for you.

            1. Change freelance to 4 out 1 in within the in game coaching menu (as you did)
            2. During gameplay, bring up the coaching menu (right on the d-pad I think? Maybe left).
            3. Select Gameplan
            4. Select "run freelance"

A potential alternative to setting the freelance to 4 out is to set it to "competitive." Think thats what its called anyway, but it basically eliminates your teammates cutting and any off ball movement

This seems to work perfectly, I can set the freelance once and forget about it the rest of the game. Thank you!
