Re: User Off-Ball Defense is broken on 2K24?

Since I can't have everyone stay home without using deny ball, I set a double team on Morant and leave him off ball and gap for Biyombo while denying everyone else and Claxton is still guarding Biyombo out at the 3 point line rather than bringing help on the drive or protecting the paint.

I've also had instances where double on drive is selected but they bring the double team on the perimeter instead and if a double team does come on the drive, the secondary defender enters this really weird walking animation that looks crab like instead of rushing the offensive player.

And even with limit transition on, everyone jogs back instead of sprinting. Mix that with the inbound hail mary passes with Tom Brady accuracy and that's a baseline layup or dunk on made shots if someone really wants to abuse it.

Try it. There isn't any other option that allows for a per player basis, so either stay attached works for you or nothing will. Think there's a "stay home" defensive adjustment, but that applies to your entire team
what does it mean by tell the defender not to help? how this could help my ai teammates to guard off-ball picks and avoid open 3s all the time...? thanks.

The only way to have shooters stay home is deny ball which is susceptible to back door cuts. I don't know why there isn't a way to have defenders stay home on individual players while using, tight, moderate and even gap as well. That said, I've had instances where even with deny ball on, the cpu will just randomly leave their man, with no double team called, every other defender covering their man and no mismatches.

Beyond that, defensive settings don't seem to work whether ACE is on or off.

When I go up against the 70/71 Bucks (who should not be a tier 3 team, they have a higher rating than some current tier 1 teams), I put deny ball on positions 1-3 and sometimes 5, leave him off ball and gap on ball for Greg Smith at the 4 with a double on catch and double on drive for Kareem and Cameron Johnson STILL guards Greg Smith out at the 3 point line and might bring a late double team on occasion. Emphasis on might.

            This nonsense is my favorite:

Had a guy run a similar play with Klay Thompson in PNO. Decided to try a switch on the screen and the initial defender, in this case Cam Thomas, was still the closest defender to Klay and the only one playing the ball. Even had leave him on Draymond and Looney and double on perimeter on catch for Klay and Cam Thomas was still the only defender in the vicinity. I don't think any off ball defensive settings work except deny ball and even that doesn't always work. I've tried all these settings with ACE on and off. If I know someone is a drive threat and there's a 5 and maybe a 4 that can't shoot, I'll have leave him off ball and gap on ball on both, double on drive for the threat and my 4s and 5s STILL guard non shooters at the 3 point line rather than bringing a double or protecting the paint.

It's bad enough getting an animation where you are sucked into a screen, but getting sucked into a screen the CPU doesn't even know it's setting? Especially with a good defender in KCP.

Plus the walking when he should be running to keep up with Bridges, like he momentarily forgot he was on a basketball court.

And cats will talk about "stick skills" and "there's no play that's unguardable" lol
